In our church we are doing a study and series on revival. Now I would love revival, not because it is good in itself, but it brings reality to peoples lives.

Many have testified at revivals people weeping over sin, and their real sense of abject failure when compared to the glorious love, purity, light of the Lord.

I have occasionally been in this place, but it is hard for humans to stand here. One person in our group shared, "I just do not feel like that. I know I should feel bad about my sin, but I do not. I have repented, but what then?"

This makes me very sad. The problem is if I put forward an idea or approach which is from the Lord, you would be amazed at how easily this is dismissed. The presumption is "I am right, that ...... just is not where I go, but I am justified in the Lord, so do not even suggest you have something better."

This poison is the very heart of sin itself. The killers in the concentration camps felt the same way about the people they killed, they were taking away the because of all the evil and problems in society, which was an insane lie and from the pit of hell itself. I have met people who are not christian, seem nice, have all the normal life experiences but see no problem in this Nazi approach to life.

Sin so easily sticks to our souls, is a daily companion, whispers hurting others is ok because they hurt us.

I need to learn more about my rebellion, my blindness, my self justification and see the effects of the evil I do, to know how glorious the Lords gift of love through Jesus really is. I need to weep before I can weep no more, because we are so self satisfied, so wrapped up in our own security and safety and so little on the needs of others.

What about you, does weeping for sin register on your experience?

You don't need to learn more about your rebellion, your blindness, self justification and the effects of the evil you do to understand how glorious Jesus is. The Bible says to magnify Jesus not ourselves and our sin. If you are a believer, Jesus already took all that ugly stuff for you and He suffered for your rebellious nature and paid for all of your ugliness. So why try to do it yourself? It is finished already and now you can lean on His grace for you. There is no more condemnation and your sins are as far as the east is from the west.

The Bible says in Philippians 3:13,14.. Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet. but this one thing I do; forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies a head. I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." :)

I don't think you going to find too many on the forum who would weep over sin...I doubt you would find a few that are even willing to use the word...unless its to attack other believers for standing in some way against evil.

Peter,

many years ago we both learned just how meaningful weeping for ourselves and others truly is, for we had so
much to weep about in our lives....it really is a gift, for even though Christ washes us from our past
sins, He also shows us who we were and allows us to shed our own tears so that our
conscience may be released from the weight of the burdens of guilt that we no longer have to bear.....

our desire for this forum is that we be a good collective example for those who come and are seeking
good fellowship and have a desire to learn the Spiritual principles of Christ and how He expects us
to behave.
we understand that complete unity with people with such diverse beliefs and back-grounds is an
unrealistic expectation,
but we do believe that we may all learn to lovingly agree to disagree.....

my husband has asked me to relate this now at this time, --many times we collaborate on our postings
and if I can't think of the right word or phrase to type, then I will say to him, 'honey, would you please
help me to find the right word to say in order to get my point across?
and then, there may come a pause.......and then I will always ask him if he is praying in
order to receive the correct words, and he will often answer, 'no, I am thinking'...
He has asked me to tell all of you that through his response to me, that he has discovered that this
is sin, because through his many years of study and seeking understanding, he has acquired a goodly amount
of knowledge...but Christ has shown him that his knowledge is sometimes Puffing-Him-Up, (big-head)
because our Father has been showing him that he is to come to his Lord and Master FIRST, and not
to lean on his own understanding -
so, since he has 'switched' his way of thinking to the Lord's Way of thinking, which involves immediate
submission before the fingers reach the keyboard, he has found that this way is always more fruitful.

so we have recently learned another NEW LESSON, and that is, before we type, we have to be in submission
to our Father, for if we are in submission to the body of sin or self, our typed words will not bear the
intended fruit....this takes practice, because 'old-habits-die-hard', so my brethren, please pray for us
that we may over-come and become submissive to our Saviour in our every thought and action...

I share, that after (33)years of diligent and regular Bible Study, I thought I knew something for sure,
but, God took me to the scripture, 'when a man thinks he knows something, he knows nothing at all.'

I find it hard to believe a person who is born of God. Is forgiven ALL his sin, Is no longer spiritually dead, but filled with the spirit can not feel any remorse whatsoever for their sin.

If they feel this way, I would question their faith.

It is fine to cry over our sin, SOmetimes even brings healing when we are openly confessing that sin to others.

But once you realise you are forgive, time to move on. Not look back. Satan wants you to look back, God wants you to know and understand, he has removed that sin as far as the east is from the rest.

yep. lets all be pharisees like you.

You have alot of hate in you. I do not know who hurt you, or what sin your trying to hide, but something in your life has come between you and humility.

I pray you find healing soon.

I find myself more likely to weep over the wounds and hurts of others. It is a waste of time to be self-focused on your own human nature (which will always trip up). God, himself, is now overlooking it since He sees the righteousness of Christ covering you.

Instead, rejoice in your Savior, worship Him, spend time giving Him thanksgiving for everything. You will find your need to sin begins to fade away - and a new peace and joy takes root in your spirit.

This is exactly the approach to take sister. EVERY time I look back at the sins I have committed, it puts the focus squarely on me and NOT on Jesus. Then the evil one whispers something like "how can YOU REALLY be saved, look at what YOU'VE done". Then we walk around defeated and unfruitful. My most sincere prayer is that I and anyone else doing this would simply focus on Jesus and let His Grace envelope us.

Why are you weeping for your past sins that have already been confessed, forgiven and forgotten about?

Do you doubt Gods "forgive and forget policy"?

For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: (Which means no more need to repent or "weep") but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

There is no condemnation. Your sins have been confessed and forgiven you. Your slate has been wiped clean.

Why then are you weeping over past sins that have been wiped away and forgotten about?

Luke 9:62
And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

Philippians 3:14 “I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

Isaiah 43:18 “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old.”

2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

Job 17:9 “The righteous keep moving forward, and those with clean hands become stronger and stronger.”

Hebrews 12:1-2 “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Philippians 3:12 “Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own.”

Psalm 119:110 “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

It is a fine line we walk, a narrow path. Thank you for the reminder...

Whenever you are at the point where you realize you need Christ and you know all your sins and are weeping about all of this then ya I agree that it shows true repentance and is beautiful but the thing is when we are saved God says that our slate is wiped clean that he remembers our sins no more. Many many times I see in the scripture that says we are forgiven that we are made pure in Christs blood but I do see many Christians including me who have yet to come to understand this.

I have been thinking about Sodom and how Jacobs nephew and his family escaped the city of sin, I was wondering about how God said not to look back at the city of sin and his wife did and turned into a pillar of salt. Salt represents purity so I was wondering why she turned into salt then I wondered how is this story relevant to us today? And something thing came to mind, perhaps this scenario for us is to say not to look back at our past and at our sins but to look forward. I have seen the difference in believers who hold on to the thoughts of their sins and how imperfect they are and how they see themselves as horrible sinners and believers who have accepted God's grace who are free in his blood.

These ppl know they sin and they in no way use grace as a free ticket to sin but rather as a precious gift to not take advantage of, they don't feel bad about their sins because Jesus took that burden for them they are no longer in chains they are free they are pure and clean and beautiful in God's eyes. Honestly I think this is the kind of thinking that can make you soar in faith because if we are constantly concerned about our sins if we are still in bondage then that right there is poison to your heart and to your faith. If there ever is a type of sinless Christian it would be one who fully understands God's grace believes it and rejoices in it and can boast in God's goodness and how he made them free

I would say yes I do hurt and cry over some sins. And I also get angry at myself and very disappointed....but that is why Jesus died...to remove me from that association and to bring me into fellowship with Him and other believers.

It can be a long dark tunnel, but there is that proverbial light at the end of it and God has many and every way to bring us to where He wants us to be as long as we surrender ourselves to Him and are not afraid to show Him our hearts because He knows what all is in them anyway.

Revival is great I guess...but I think maybe santification, on ongoing process, without emotional ups and downs may have more merit!

Revivals have brought many to Christ over the centuries, but it is that steadfastness of heart that moves us into the right place

Ember I want to tell you what God placed in my heart. As I am sure you know if you saw my post I am in the same boat as you but also something that I believe fully with all my heart is this- it doesn't matter how weak I am now it doesn't matter what I am lacking in God or what my flaws mistakes and sins are now because I know that if any one can make me just like Jesus in every way and in the deepest levels possible it would be God. I rely 100 and ten percent on God not even .000000000000000000001 percent of myself, my hope my faith my strength my love is all in him with him and for him which is why I am not ashamed of my weakness because while I am weak he is strong.

But you know as for the weeping, I do sometimes lay in bed at night weeping for the world rather the ppl in the world

I think we are suppose to regret, repent, and flee from sin. But there's no reason for a Christian to weep over sin. However, if our past sins involved actions that hurt or were detrimental to others, its normal to fell bad about that. Sometimes forgiving ourselves is the toughest thing to do.

"Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed" (Isaiah 53:4&5). What makes me sad is that if none of us were screw-ups and sinned, he would not have had to go through this. But of course, we rejoice and are thankful for his sacrifice.

There seems to be two issues here which are being confused.
Jesus wept over Jerusalem. Nehemiah wept over the state of Israel.
Neh 1:4-7
When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven. 5 Then I said:
“Lord, the God of heaven, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with those who love him and keep his commandments,6 let your ear be attentive and your eyes open to hear the prayer your servant is praying before you day and night for your servants, the people of Israel. I confess the sins we Israelites, including myself and my father’s family, have committed against you. 7 We have acted very wickedly toward you. We have not obeyed the commands, decrees and laws you gave your servant Moses.

You all have the ear of the King of Kings. Would you wish the Lord of heaven being judgement or grace upon this world?
Do you rejoice as people dance and sing while dying inside? As christians argue over things they cannot achieve or imagined powers they do not have, people stumble and fall into oblivion.

But hay, this tragedy should not bother you because you are loved by God, assured of heaven and your sins are long forgotten in your perfect walk.

I no longer wonder at why the church is the way it is, I mean divorce, murder, theft, lying, pornography, fake miracles, slander are not the problem, it is how big your church is, or how spiritually mature you appear to sound, or how many books you publish, or which conference you last went to.

This reality of sadness over sin separates those who know the beginning of righteousness from those who just pretend.

Peter, you have to understand what we are saying. Also I wouldn't assume you know us and how we feel, I don't want judgement on the earth I want the earth to be drowned utterly in his love so all know how deeply he loves and cares for each person how far he is willing to go for even the darkest and most cruel heart no matter how blood stained their souls are, even when his judgement comes he will be hurting deeply inside his heart for he does not wish this upon his children and if I was there next to him in this time I would be comforting him and reminding him of his promises and to forgive them.

tragedy bothers me very much I cannot even watch the news sometimes without bawling I lay at night at times bawling because I so concerned for all the wounded and broken in this world for those who have not known love for those who know true pain sadness being un cared for feeling lost and alone because I have and still know all of this and because they are his beloved children because of how I know he loves and cares for them I feel the same way and honestly having such a deep love for others like that hurts because your heart aches for them and yet you cannot do anything because you do not have the gift of healing you cannot reach from where you are to them and comfort them and tell them they are not alone show them the love they never knew.

I bear intense pain in my heart and soul but it is a pain I chose because I sought to be love above all else to see others as he does and to love others as he does. Believe me he has bore much more and much deeper and intense pain than any of us all because of love because he chose to bear this pain and I am starting to understand how he feels. Never assume you know the hearts of ppl My friend
