Let's take at look at a serious warning in Romans 1
First of all, who is this letter addressed to?

Romans 1:7 NKJV
7 To all who are in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints:

As those who are in Christ, we are called to be set apart and called out of the world. We have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and as 2 Peter 2 warns, we should not return to be entangled in the world's ways again as there is a heavy consequence.

At the end of this chapter God explains that He has His wrath on unrighteousness.

Romans 1:18-22
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.

Prior to this passage, it is established that the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith and that the just live by faith through the gospel of Christ!
God has shown mankind His power and presence. His existence can be seen by the simple proof of Creation and thus we are without excuse even those who deny His power and presence by suppressing His 100% absolute truth. This is the reason why mankind instead of continuing to follow and believe God instead lift up the creation over the Creator. They promote and lift up powers other than God by giving glory to mankind, animals, science and randomized processes, etc instead of God while the evidence of His existence is clear before their eyes.

Romans 1:24-25 NKJV
24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

The perversion of God's order comes at a price. God gives these individuals who know better but instead promote the perversion of what He has done up to uncleanness and to dishonor their bodies with vile passions. The natural use is based on God's order. What is against nature is the perversion of His order and in this case, God speaks directly against homosexuality. Women exchanging the natural use for what is against nature is likened to men leaving the natural use of the woman for men. This results in a penalty for this exact error which is due. There is a heavy price for going against God's order!

Romans 1:28-31 NKJV
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality,[c]wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they arewhisperers, 30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving,[d] unmerciful;

Thus is a serious warning against this type of sin as well as any sin that perverts God's order. To receive the penalty for this error which is due has dire consequences. More specifically, God gives these individuals over to a debased mind because they did not like to retain God in their knowledge. Instead of keeping God in the front of their lives, they instead followed the ways which are not of God. God does not force us to follow Him nor does He force us to continue to follow Him, but we do need to retain Him in our knowledge and actions! This list of things which are unfitting is an exhortation to not continue in these actions and behaviors and to continue in Him!

Romans 1:32 NKJV
32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.

Now in reference to the OP and Christians who approve of Gay Marriage. As Marriage is a covenant between a man and a woman before God, it's sad to see the world adopting a term that is and always has been something before God and perverting it for a homosexual union. Even for those in the US or other countries who claim a "separation of church and state" which is not written in the US Constitution, since marriage is a covenant in God, they should really find another term and give them a secular union that has the benefits of what is currently given to "marriage." Leave what is of God to God if they truly hate Christianity so much and want to have nothing to do with it.

The people who know the righteous judgment of God in these matters (all the perversions of His order listed previously), know that those who practice these sins are deserving of death, but more importantly, those who approve of those who practice them. This is a clear warning to the Church to remain in Him and what His word says. As those who have been called out of the world and bought at a blood price, we are no longer our own. It's not about following what we want to believe and doing what we want to be doing, but seeking what is pleasing to the Lord. As we have been born of light, we need to walk in that light. As we have the Holy Spirit, we need to not grieve the Holy Spirit or worse, quench the Spirit. Since we have escaped the pollutions of the world, we need to make sure that we are not entangled in them again as the latter end will be worse for us than the beginning.

As Christians we do need to be compassionate for those who are lost and reach out to them. However, we cannot compromise the 100% absolute truth that is in the word of God and the leading of the Holy Spirit. When we begin to compromise and adopt the values and morals of the world, we become salt that has lost its flavor. If we are indistinguishable from the world, how can we effectively witness to the world? When we look like and sound like the world, what distinguishes us from the world so we can effectively give them truth that leads to repentance? If we are walking by something outside of truth, what truth do we give? As Christians, we need to take up our cross by standing and remaining in God's truth. Let us not depart from that truth to a lie and accept a perversion of God's order.

Can a Christian be pro gay-marriage? No.
What we can do is give them truth as the Holy Spirit leads us. However, we cannot accept what is sin as something acceptable.

The loaded phrase there is "lifestyle of sin". I backslid and was involved in sexual immorality for years. I was still saved, and God didn't give up on me.

I was saved both before and after it.

God's grace extends way beyond what most people think. I am living proof of it.

During that time, though, I was messed up in terms of my communion with God, and my thinking was disordered as a result. I dishonored God during that period. My union with Christ was there, but my communion was not like it should have been.

I believe "lifestyle of sin" refers to someone whose salvation never made a difference in their life whatsoever. It is not talking about a Christian who has issues with something over a protracted period of time.
People can backslide and return if they repent and seek forgiveness. But I can assure you during that time of sexual immorality you did not have a union with Christ. Christ will not be enjoined with a harlot, neither can a person be "in sin" and "in Christ" at the same. For "in Him" is no sin. It is your sins that separate you from God, God will be faithful on His part, but we also must be faithful.

1 Corinthians 6:15-17 "Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.[SUP]16 [/SUP]What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.
[SUP]17 [/SUP]But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit."

Isaiah 59:2
But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

Hebrews 7:26
For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;

First of all, homosexual's can not get married. Marriage means the bond and promise between a man and a woman. So call it what you want, just not marriage. Second, if God opposes homosexuality, which is laid out in First Corinthians, then how can we, believers, condone it? People choose to be homosexual, just as people choose to lie, or steal. It is a sin and it can not be condoned by any TRUE believer.

Where have you been the last couple years? Gay marriage IS now legal in several states..shouldn't be but it is.. :/

...with those Corinthians that were having sex with the temple prostitutes ..the Holy Spirit was still there in them the whole time...He never left because they were having sex.....He certainly didn't like them doing that or anything that grieves His heart....but He doesn't leave

......one day you are a sheep ( when you don't sin )..the next day you are a goat ( when you do a sin ) ..then back to a sheep ( when you stop doing a sin ) again...etc...etc....

..do we keep on changing our "animal status" because of a sin.....I'm sure Jesus' work on the cross was much greater then any sin.... it's a crazy mixed theology...

Wrong. The Holy Spirit did not leave me and come back when I repented. God caused me to repent and that is why I returned.

Sorry that doesn't fit your paradigm.

If the Holy Spirit hops in and out of you ever time you sin and repent, salvation is a revolving door.

Paul was pointing to WHY you shouldn't commit fornication..because you are one with Christ, and He died for our sins. He wasn't saying that you would lose your union with Christ due to sin. It does affect your communion with Christ, but not your union.

The union with Christ, and the presence of the Holy Spirit, is what brings to repentance and causes further sanctification. If God simply leaves the Christian, nothing would change.

These sorts of views really don't give God the glory in salvation, whether we are talking about justification or sanctification. God doesn't give up on anyone.

Your remarks don't correspond with my experience. However I won't argue excessively with Semi-Pelagians or Pelagians because it's hopeless. Their theology is about ME....ME...ME...ME...I am the one who is the controlling factor, not God and his remarkable work of salvation.

When I was saved, I became clay, with God as the potter. Too many Christians don't realize they are clay. They think they are the potter. God is the potter.

I Corinthians 6 [SUP]12 [/SUP]“I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything. [SUP]13 [/SUP]You say, “Food for the stomach and the stomach for food, and God will destroy them both.” The body, however, is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. [SUP]14 [/SUP]By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also. [SUP]15 [/SUP]Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never! [SUP]16 [/SUP]Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.”[SUP][b][/SUP] [SUP]17 [/SUP]But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit.[SUP][c][/SUP]
[SUP]18 [/SUP]Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. [SUP]19 [/SUP]Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; [SUP]20 [/SUP]you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

Oh my, so much confusion.

1 John 1:6
If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:

1 John 2:4
He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

1 John 4:13-15 (NASB)
[SUP]13 [/SUP] By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.
[SUP]14 [/SUP] We have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.
[SUP]15 [/SUP] Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.

1 John 3:23-24 (NASB)
[SUP]23 [/SUP]
[SUP][/SUP] This is His commandment, that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He commanded us.
[SUP]24 [/SUP] The one who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. We know by this that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.

Can a mature Christian be pro-gay marriage?
Absolutely not.

Many of them are younger Christians, and they tend to be gay or bisexual themselves. However, some churches, as we know, support gay marriage and even gay leadership within the church.
Younger as in their chronological age? If they are homosexual or bisexual, then they are simply young, unsaved people.

My position is that this is one of the issues which sort out true Christians and organizations that God is working through from those that are not true Christians and organizations that he is not working through. It is going to become plainer and plainer which people and organizations belong to Him and which people and organizations are in rebellion against Him, despite their claims.
I agree. It's rubber-meets-the-road time for the Body of Christ.

Can a mature Christian be pro-gay marriage?

There are a number of individuals within the Church that categorize themselves as evangelicals who are promoting gay marriage.

Many of them are younger Christians, and they tend to be gay or bisexual themselves. However, some churches, as we know, support gay marriage and even gay leadership within the church.

My position is that this is one of the issues which sort out true Christians and organizations that God is working through from those that are not true Christians and organizations that he is not working through. We are not under the law.

Well, that was the easiest poll I have answered. Homosexual marriage is simply not from God, never has been and never will be.

As I have mentioned before, in our new church in the city where we moved, we have a man who is a homosexual. He even has a gay "look" about him, although I realize not all gays can be stereotyped that way.

He was raised an Italian Catholic, and then drifted away from the church. But God called him, and he was saved. He knew he could not go back to the gay lifestyle. So he met a woman and married her. They have been married for over 25 years and they are very happy together. They are both leaders in our church, and are very involved in the community helping people and finding ways to share Christ.

My thought is that if this man could walk away from homosexuality, any person can. He may still have desires, but he does not act on them. (Not sure about that!) He is faithful and committed to his wife.

So no, I think the choice is either celibacy or marry the opposite sex. The Bible simply does not allow for gay marriage.

Society joins a man and man or a woman and woman and calls it marriage.
God joins a man and woman and calls it marriage.

Seems like someone is working out of the wrong dictionary...

Genesis 2:23-24 KJVS
[23] And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. [24] Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

Can a mature Christian be pro-gay marriage?...

In the eyes of God marriage is by definition the union between a man and a woman, so there's no such thing as 'gay marriage.' Hence a christian can't possibly be 'pro gay marriage.'

Jesus loves us all....he hates sin but LOVES the sinner.
we can accept people who sin. but we cannot support it (my opinion)
if God says for example don't smoke cigaretes and we don't but yet we buy a pack for someone else we are keeping them down
with my homosexual friends I love them and laugh with them but I do not partake in there outings nor do I call them the opposite gender (my one male friend wants to be called girl and I refuse I always say hey man. or you look handsome) to keep the demons around them happy by being pro gay marriage is declaring them to stay down.
now I'm not saying to picket with large signs saying God hates gays because that is wrong lol
we are not to judge anyone.
but pray and show them love. rebuke and bind the demons that are making men feel like less of a man
and bind and rebuke the women who think they are a man. that's not of God that's a lie from the devil.
and as a friend once told me women now a days have altered visions of what a man is. and same for men about women.
(my opinion lol so don't go bite my legs over it anyone. lol)

I agree. This was demonstrated to me yesterday when I learned about the history of the dissolution of Exodus International, which was a ministry devoted to helping homosexuals escape their sins through Christ. According to a former board member (in some capacity), a popular 'grace' pastor/teacher (Grace Church Orlando) co-opted the organization after installing a homosexual member of his congregation as its president, who then shut the organization down in accordance with his view of grace (no condemnation) with the goal of reopening it along the lines of 'grace' teachings, in which homosexuality would not be condemned, but be accepted as one's self identity in Christ.
