I agree 100% with your understanding.
I will add that the 70th week continued during Jesus ministry.
The time was suspended at His crucifixion and will began again when the man of sin is revealed.
There is no 7 year tribulation period and no peace tready between the man of sin and Israel.
When the time of tribulation begins at the man of sin's revealing, there will be about three and a half years until the return of Jesus and the end.

There I said it. Let the Bible Scholars begin their attack.
There's no reason for this. The apostles, Christ's body, continued confirming the new covenant with Israel and Judah for the remainder of the 70th week; and then the door was opened to the gentiles when the leader of the church, Peter, authorized Cornelieus and his household to be baptized into the body of Christ. At this point the promise to the houses of Israel and Judah had been fulfilled.

I'm good with everything except the last part lol..... we can't agree on everything. Where does the 3 1/2 years come?

The first half of the 70th week was the ministry of Jesus as He offered Himself to Israel as the Messiah.
That leaves about three and a half years to complete the 70th week and God dealing with Israel.

And I offer as my proof:

how will we escape [if we] neglect so great a salvation which had [its] beginning [when it] was spoken through the Lord [and] was confirmed to us by those who heard, Hebrews 2:3

Allow me to rephrase this:

how will we escape [if we] neglect so great a salvation which had [its] beginning [when it] was spoken through the Lord [for 3.5 years] [and then] was confirmed to us [for another 3.5 years] by those [disciples] who heard [him].

You just made my point for me.
You added to the Holy Word Of God to justify your false understanding.

So I am annoyingly insensitive or slow to understand.
Back at you--------------------
Dull. Slow to understand.

Let's see...

  • Daniel said in a prophecy about the messiah and Israel that someone would confirm a covenant for one week (generally understood to be 7 years)
  • Christ ministered the new covenant to Israel for what is generally considered to be 3.5 years. Christ through his apostles continued to confirm that covenant with Israel for another period of time before the door was opened to the gentiles, indicating that GOD's promise to Israel had been fulfilled (Jew first, then the gentiles). So it's not far-fetched to think that this period was 3.5 years as prophesied by Daniel. The writer of Hebrews said that the new covenant was confirmed first by the lord, and then by those who heard him.
  • Daniel predicted that sacrifices would cease at the half way point of the 70th week (3.5 years)
  • Christ's sacrifice after his 3.5 year minstry ended sacrifices.
  • Daniel prophesied that the messiah would be cut off after the period of 62 weeks had elapsed (which followed the 7-week period)
  • Christ was cut off 3.5 years after the 62-week period ended.

This doesn't even cover Daniel 9:24 which is all about Christ ending the problem of sin and bringing in eternal righteousness.

Hello HeRose,

Christ ministered the new covenant to Israel for what is generally considered to be 3.5 years.
The above is conjecture on your part, as there is no scriptural support for the above and two, it would have nothing to do with what Dan.9:27. As I have continue to demonstrate through scripture, the Anointed One was cut off (Christ crucified) at the end of the sixty-nine seven year periods. The seven years spoken of in Dan.9:27 takes place after the Anointed One is cut off and is in reference to that ruler that is to come. People have attempted to make Jesus the "He" in Dan.9:27, which is impossible because by doing so you make him the One who is setting up the abomination in the holy place, which is detestable and abhorrent before God, according to the definition of Bdelugma which is the word translated abomination. Since there is only one person mentioned in the scripture, the "He" who sets up the abomination could be not be Jesus, but is that coming ruler, the antichrist.

Here is a question for you Scholars---------
Daniel 8 mentions 2300 days and Daniel 12 mentions 1290 days, 1260 days, and 1335 days.
How do you fit those days into your end time understanding?
Hey Herose, You want to enlighten the obtuse one on this question?

2300 days = the cleansing of the temple when it was desecrated by Antiochus Epiphanes when he desecrated the temple

1260 days = The last 3 1/2 years of that coming seven year period

1290 & 1335 days = 30 days and 45 days respectively, after the 1260 days (last 3 1/2 years) which are events that will most likely have to do with judgments and other business that will ensue when the Lord returns to the earth to end the age, such as the judgment of the sheep and goats and other kingdom business.

Daniel 12:11,12
And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken awayand the abomination that maketh desolate set up there will be 1290 days
Blessed is he that waiteth and cometh to the 1335 days

I think you might be wrong on your all knowing understanding.

It doesn't say at the end of the 69 weeks, but after that period. That would put it into the 70th week. Daniels' wording is too obscure to make such definitive statements that you make. You really should read the Septuagint version, which essentially nullifies your point about the prince. It says that Christ will destroy the city with the coming prince.

And after the sixty-two weeks, the anointed one shall be destroyed, and there is no judgment in him: and he shall destroy the city and the sanctuary with the prince that is coming: they shall be cut off with a flood, and to the end of the war which is rapidly completed he shall appoint [the city] to desolations. Daniel 9:26

I don't pay much attention to that. I think that all of Daniel's prophecies have been fulfilled, except possibly for a few things in chapter 12.

Hi KJV1611,

For the answer to this, read Nehemiah 1 & 2 and count from 446 BC to 483 years to the Anointed One being cut off.

Why are there 7 weeks and 62 weeks? Why the seperation?

Seven weeks of years = To restore and rebuild Jerusalem

Sixty-two weeks of years = At the end of which the Anointed One was cut off (Christ crucified)

The two above equal sixty-nine of the seventy seven weeks of years that were decreed for Israel and Jerusalem as proclaimed in Dan.9:24. The last weeks of years will take place in the future and is drawing very near. It will be initiated when that ruler, the antichrist makes his firm covenant with Israel, which will allow them to rebuild their temple and begin to make offerings and sacrifices. In the middle of that seven years, the antichrist will put a stop to the offerings and sacrifices and will set up that abomination, which will cause Israel to flee Jerusalem and Judea out to that place that God will have prepared for her (Rev.12:6,14) in the wilderness where she will remain for 1260 days, which is that last 3 1/2 years.

lol anyone can 'prove' a theory by citing books which agree with them. But where are the SCHOLARLY books. Noticeably absent!!!
The TOP Scholars in this land wrote the Commentaries:

The Seminary Professors of Dallas Theological Seminary wrote the Bible Knowledge Commentary.

Here is as short Biography of Dr. John MacArthur's background:

[TABLE]
[TR]
[TD]

John MacArthur is the pastor-teacher of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California, as well as an author, conference speaker, president of The Master’s College and Seminary, and featured teacher with the Grace to You media ministry.
In 1969, after graduating from Talbot Theological Seminary, John came to Grace Community Church. The emphasis of his pulpit ministry is the careful study and verse-by-verse exposition of the Bible, with special attention devoted to the historical and grammatical background behind each passage. Under John’s leadership, Grace Community Church's two morning worship services fill the 2,600-seat auditorium to capacity.
. . .
In 2015 The MacArthur New Testament Commentary series was completed. In its thirty-three volumes, John takes you detail by detail, verse by verse, through the entire New Testament.

The Master's College and Seminary was formerly known as, the Los Angeles Baptist Theological Seminary opened in 1927 with 24 students. William A. Matthews serves as the first president. Dr. John MacArthur became President of the Master's College and Seminary in 1985.

Here is a short Biography of who Dr. Thomas is:

The following are notes that I have prepared from my own study of the Scriptures. I have distributed them to my students in my Bible classes at Dallas Theological Seminary for many years. I have also made them available to the people in my church. They provide more information than a study Bible, but they are less technical than many commentaries.
These are working documents. I retired from teaching at DTS in June of 2011. Since then I have been giving my full attention to producing these notes, as well as preaching and teaching as I have opportunity. Whenever I teach a class and distribute them, I print out the most current edition and name it for the year in which I teach the class. So the edition year indicates the last time I taught the book using the notes.
