Are you gearing up for a battle of who knows the most scriptures to support what they believe? ? Because if you are then I'm not playing That game today. I don't like fighting. I only stated my opinion And then tried to back it up in scripture to show why I feel a certain way. That's all.I certainly wasn't trying to challenge or contradict anyone.

In your religion - if you died tonight - if you didn't confess this sin - you would not be righteous and thus go to hell.

This is why this religious nonsense is NOT the gospel of the grace of Christ.

I'd typically rather talk with a 'scruffy' minister than one dressed in a 3-piece suit. From my experience, the latter speaks to me of worldliness, seeking praise from men, compromise, conformity to the world's standards, hypocrisy, superficiality, plastic, phony, used-car salesman, etc.

From now on notice that when Christ is mentioned, the words what he has done are almost always appended to it. Also notice that faith is in Christ AND what he has done (ie, the new creation). So it goes beyond faith in Christ himself to faith in the new creation.

The trouble with you Christians today, There is no holiness or Spiritual maturity at all, If you were a little bit holy, You would want God's people to dress smart.
It's common sense and Spiritual maturity to want to dress nice for God.

We believers are supposed to be getting used to the idea of not looking on outward appearance of things. Check out Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses].


God says in His Word., He takes the things in the world that are "not" to show out the things that "are" So God uses people who look (and are kind of) 'odd' to show out His life in them. You're missing out on a ton of good stuff by looking only on the outward appearance of people and things. The world does that all the time and we are supposed to be learning not to do that.

That is in fact a very annoying characteristic in us humans- to be respecters of people based on something as superficial as the outward appearances or having or not having money. A Christian has to learn not to judge; not to put those people they judged to go sit in the back at a lowly positional place at the table.

When you consider how God loves us and takes the 'likes' of us and sits us at the front of the table and gives us the best of His blessings you can't (unless you are blind to the grace of God) treat others based on their outward appearances. God loves people; clean or dirty., smart or stupid., attractive or unattractive. God loves people so much He sent His most and best by sending His only Son Jesus to die for us all. While we were yet sinners Christ died for us.

My first church I began going to I had just got out of the millitary and moved back in with my mom, had a cardboard box of clothes to my name, and this pastor with a watch that must have cost twice that of my used car made me feel I was dishonouring the Lord because my Sunday best was not equal to his.

Mine might not have been his best but it was my best.

So I didnt have eye candy, if God was larger than life in his life he wouldnt be eyeballing what I didnt have.

Some churches can just be a big fasion show, but I wouldnt be the one being immodest and wearing the costly apparel he was sporting. I wasnt the one breaking that rule and looking down my nose at the have nots, thats his to answer for.

As such I wouldnt seek the word of the Lord at their mouth anyway.

If a man's heart is right, his dress will be smart. And if his heart isn't right, then his ability to minister will suffer.
God hasn't changed, and neither should His ambassadors. Yet modern day Christians have changed so much that the early Church Father's wouldn't recognize them as God's Ministers, [Shame on them].
A Country will never send a scruffy ambassador out to represent the,, and neither will God.
You watch those scruffy ministers when they go to a business meeting, or to meet an important person, They will dress very smart, yet when it comes to Church and Ministry, their attitude is, "Oh It's only God".
They have no respect for God, their ministry or the people they minister to.

Actually., that is just doing the same thing but on the other extreme. That is why man's reasoning cannot be counted on either way and why God's Word tells us not to judge each other since we cannot see the heart like God does.

No, it's not. I was careful to condition my statement with the word typically. I judge a man by his words, not his clothes.

Ohhh., I didn't put enough emphasis on your word "typically" ? (don't think you did either HRFTD) your emphasis was on the comparison with the poorly dressed guy vs the well dressed one..and what you think of them.,and then what you "typically" think of them. I pretty much read what you wrote with your emphasis being clear.

How was Jesus dress when He died for us on the cross?

If you want to dress nicely and feel it honors God, then do so.

However you are wrong to judge someone based upon their clothes,because Jesus didn't look at clothes or worldly status, riches and position. He looks at people's hearts and we should do the same.

What I'm talking about is the Pastor or Leader of the church looking a hot mess..not the congregants.
