Well I was going to say something but now I will change my subject matter. I am sad at what I have read on this thread. If you, anyone had a word of knowledge from God through the Spirit and you knew you had to put it on here for only one person, would you?
Knowing that only one person would understand what you meant, would you? Would you expect a barrage of accusation, or that the message would be able to permeate through into someone's Spirit the thing they are having trouble with.
I really do not understand why the majority of answers are so hostile to the op. Wealth is a problem within the Church, or Jesus would not give guidelines of conscience for us to follow. No where has deciplemike said we should give away all we have, but reading the answers one would think he did.
What the Lord gives us to be steward of is for us and the Lord to sort out when He returns. Will the conversation be like that of the beggar Lazarus or the rich man? When we say on that day "Lord when did we see you hungry or naked?" What will the answer be from Jesus? This was the question for both the chosen and the cast out, only the reply from Jesus was different.
It does none of us any harm for our conscience to be pricked every so often, it keeps us on our toes. We as individuals as we live can take the Spirit for granted, The Holy Spirit will never force himself into our lives, we may have asked Him in and "fanning the flames" of the Spirit is a life long process, it is part of our race and the daily picking up of the cross.
No one dose ask me how to use wealth properly, no one will, because I live in social housing and am a carer for my wife with serious health issues, but to my shame when I see a need it does not always click with my brain that I could do anything about it until the opportunity has passed me by.
The one thing that does disappoint me about those who I know as I listen to them in my day to day life, is they say "OH don't give money", or "Don't encourage them they will be back". Scripture talks about fasting, true fasting. It talks about justice and mercy. These are Jesus words after all. It is something I feel we should all do well to keep close to our hearts.
Thank you disciplemike for reminding me of my duty to my God.
Lord Jesus keep in me your love, with the will, to touch those I can, with what ever you have given me to touch them with, in Jesus name, Amen.
