I see present tense, but not future tense. No "forevers" no "eternallys"

This present tense can be seen as "what you're doing & what you've done". It does say somewhere, "once, for all", but not "once and for all"

Once, for all mankind. God is no respecter of persons.

Ummmmm, we don't exist in the "future" we exist in the present. And in the present, we HAVE forgiveness in Christ.

Are you saying that the organized 'church' just might be wrong about something....? Tell me it ain't so.

This letter was to the Hebrew Christians, wasn't it? why would i see it other wise. it was being addressed to those who were previously under the law before becoming Christians. and the last time i check, the gentiles did not know anything about animal sacrifices!! so what would make anyone think that this letter applies to everyone? For how long will you fight TRUTH? For how long will you keep misinterpreting the Word of God to suit your religious claims?
2 Timothy 3:16 (NASB)
[SUP]16 [/SUP]All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;

2 Timothy 3:16 (NLT)
[SUP]16 [/SUP]All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.

Aaagain..... why do I have to repeat myself?

Only certain people think certain scripture is for them..... cults.

Answer this question and it will reveal the truth about "wilful sinning".

Have you ever wilfully sinned?

Of course you have - so in your religion if the wilful sin is any other sin but unbelief in Christ -
there remains no more sacrifice for sins and thus you will die with those sins still on you because Christ's sacrifice for those sins will not be for you
.

Gee..I wonder why they call the book Hebrews???? I'm not falling for your "baiting" and I highly doubt others are too. We are on to your tactics and deception. I encourage everyone to click on your name and see the posts that you make and they can readily see the "spirit" that is driving them.

Since there's no Book to the Gentiles, does that mean we don't have to read or keep any of it?:p:rolleyes::p

It's not about what scripture is "for" us, it's about what scripture means for us in light of the Cross.

It means that we always need to see who is being spoken too at the time of the writing or we can end up taking some one else's medicine. Paul says to pray for him to have boldness in his letters to the churches. Do you do that now? I sincerely hope not.

I

It's not about what scripture is "for" us, it's about what scripture means for us in light of the Cross.

Amen....all scripture is "for" us but not all scripture is "to" us in it's application in light of the finished work of Christ. There is a massive difference. Don't be taking other people's medicine!

Not knowing this distinction breeds all kinds of D.I.Y. works-based doctrines that are really anti-Christ in their nature.

When Paul wrote the letter to young Timothy,
both of them were already believers in Messiah,

AND

the only Scripture they had was the Old Testament.

fact.

And now we have the New Testament to explain the old to us. Isn't that great!

This hyper-grace pastor, Joseph Prince, writes: “There is a lot of confusion and wrong believing in the church today because many Christians read their Bibles without rightly dividing the old and new covenants. They don’t realize that even some of the words which Jesus spoke in the four gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) are part of the old covenant. They were spoken before the cross as He had not yet died. The new covenant begins only after the cross, when the Holy Spirit was given on the Day of Pentecost” (p. 92, “Destined to Reign” by Joseph Prince).

Equally strange is that, while Prince downplays Jesus’ words before going to the cross, he also downplays huge swathes of scripture after Calvary such as Hebrews and Revelation that allude to unpleasant themes such as apostasy, perseverance, and overcoming.
(Hebrews 6:4-8, Hebrews 10: 36-39, Revelation 2:10, Revelation 3:5 ) **

Why? In order to accommodate the liberal teaching of hyper-grace, only portions of scripture that align well with it are allowed. source...

Not entirely true as Paul wrote 2 Tim at the very end of his life so all his other letters would have been circulating for a few decades before that and Peter called them scripture.

I do agree that the Old testament was used a lot too. We can be able to quote the whole law of Moses and still not know what the revelation of Christ is in it. The Pharisees and scribes of Jesus day knew the scriptures but they didn't know Christ
.

Hear what our Lord says about the scriptures themselves and about Himself.

John 5:39-40 (NASB)

"You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me;

[SUP]40 [/SUP] and you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life.

back up to 2Tim3.15.
these are the Scriptures that Timothy knew since he was a child, my friend.

When one spreads a false doctrine that is not based entirely on the good solid foundation of God’s Word of Truth, ( which is our Rock and Chief corner stone), then certain verses need be ignored or rejected entirely. In order for the lie to prosper the Truth must be misrepresented, twisted, and even flat out rejected in some cases. I have found there is one single misrepresentation, or false doctrine belief that causes so many of its followers to reject, misrepresent, twist, and even outright deny the very words of God and warnings in many parts of scripture in order to uphold this foundational error on which the whole of the false doctrine is built upon.

This one single misrepresentation of scripture that has caused so many persons to be led astray, and has also caused them to want to believe many more lies in order to prop up and uphold the original misrepresentation of scripture is this…… “All future sins are already forgiven no matter what one does.” This false doctrine belief is the cornerstone belief of Universalism, OSAS doctrine, and many of the false grace doctrines we see being widely accepted today. The simple reason why it is so widely accepted by the world is because the whole world lies in wickedness. And so the notion, and the doctrine that you can sin and still be saved is a very popular one for those who are still of the world and living to the lusts of the flesh.

This false doctrine sets no condition on the person’s part to abide in the faith, which is to abide in the very words of God and doctrine of Jesus Christ. This single misrepresentation of scripture has also caused many to also believe there is no need for confession of sin, no need for repentance of and from sin, no need to forgive others of sin in order to be forgiven of God, no need for an obedient walk of faith, and also no need to stop sinning.

So why would one think all the other parts and warnings in scripture do not apply to them? Because in the minds of its followers “all future sins are already forgiven” so why bother with the rest? This single false belief also rejects any notion that one can even fall away from the faith, even though the warnings in scripture are numerous. Not to mention all the warnings about walking in the flesh and not ceasing from sin. This false belief also rejects this verse here…Matthew 12:32 “And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

And so if all future sins are already forgiven with no possible way to fall away from the faith, then why the need for all the many warnings in scripture, and why a need for a judgement, for hell and a lake of fire? Makes no sense at all, if indeed all future sins are already forgiven right? Truth is, there is no verse in scripture that says “all future sins are already forgiven.”
But there are those that specifically speak of past sins being forgiven.

Romans 3:25 “Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;”

2 Peter 1:1-10 “
Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:[SUP]2 [/SUP]Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,

[SUP]3 [/SUP]According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:[SUP]4 [/SUP]Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;[SUP]6 [/SUP]And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;[SUP]7 [/SUP]And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
[SUP]8 [/SUP]For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.[SUP]9 [/SUP]But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.[SUP]10 [/SUP]Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:”

Now, don’t get me wrong. God can and will forgive you all your past sins, and even future sins, but there are some “ifs” or conditions that have be met by the believer if one sins after coming to Christ and being washed. If one hardens their hearts to all those warnings and conditions of repenting of sin, and walking in willful ongoing rebellion and wickedness then there remains no more sacrifice for their sins.

Hebrews 10:26
“For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

the first doctrine " i have made you in my image, i give you dominion over all things, you are free to eat of any tree in the garden but you must not eat of the tree of the knowledge of Good and evil for when you do, you will surely die"

the first false doctrine " did God really say that? surely you will not die, for God knows when you eat of it you will be like Him knowing good and evil"

i find that every false doctrine is patterned after this. they always use scripture, as did the serpent use Gods words. theres always just enough truth to bait a person. " it will make you like God" and there is always omittal of what is important to life, simply hearing what God said, believing it and holding to it through the action required.

false doctrine is the enemies only way to kill mankind, Gods word is the power thats why He used it against eve, and trie to use it against Jesus, only Jesus knew the truth and couldnt be swayed. good post

Yep..as you said ....he was young when Paul met him and the scriptures are no doubt in the Old as well as the letters Paul wrote. They didn't become scripture because some people a couple of centuries later said it was scripture. No, it becomes scripture when it was inspired by the Holy Spirit just like in the Old Testament.

Peter himself said that Paul's letters were scripture too so Timothy had both...thank God.

Plus 90% of the gentiles couldn't read or write too.

Like I said before - all scripture whether Old or New needs to be interpreted by the finished work of Christ and certainly not by the law of Moses. It's purpose has been fulfilled and we thank God for it.
