By faith and also we have a witness of the Spirit in our hearts. Not necessarily in our heads. Many times we need to have our minds renewed to the truths of the kingdom of God that is within us. It is with our heart that we believe. Romans 10:10

We receive the Holy Spirit when we believed in the message of Christ.

The process is:

1) we hear the message of Christ

2) we believe the message of Christ

3) we become in manifestation what Christ is now because we see Him for who He really is. We are transformed to reflect in our outward behavior the life of Christ Himself by beholding the glory/goodness of the Lord by the Holy Spirit. 2 Cor. 3:17-18

We can see this being done in Eph. 1:13 when we first received Christ. The whole of our Christian life from start to finish operates in this same exact truth.

It is all by grace through faith in what Christ has already done for us.

Ephesians 1:13 (NASB)
[SUP]13 [/SUP] In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, ( 1)the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, ( 2) you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise,( 3)

Grace777x77, I agree with your points 1 and 2, but your point 3 seems me contradict with 1 John 3,2. We are a new creation right and we are sealed right, but we are now not what we are, this we will be when our Lord returns.

You seem to be basing your ideas on experience rather than scripture. It is one thing to say you don't observe these kinds of mircles or lots of them. It is another to say this is normative for the church. The Bible says 'quench not the Spirit' so maybe us humans can have something to do with a lack of spiritual gifts.

I Corinthians 12 still teaches that the gifts listed in that passage are given as the Spirit wills. We should accept that as doctrine.
What then with the, poor Romans, which got from Paul and list of gifts which excludet speaking in tongues, healing and miracles. In deed for us as christian me seems is Romans chapter 12 more that what the Lord wants from us then 1. Cor.chapter 12! If God does healings and miracles who I am to be against it. But is really God behind all miracles and healings? In Math.7,21 - 23 we read that not all who are doing great things are accepted from the Lord.

If the Romans really did not know what Paul was teaching them, then maybe they were worse off than the Corinthians. He told them about having faith and being saved, the type of things we share with unbelievers. I am not saying that they did not understand these things. He said their faith was spoken of throughout the whole world. Paul had not been to Rome, so he was not offering them the fatherly correction of specific problems that he did with the Corinthians. But he did address the issue of a reader who called himself a Jew and taught against adultery, whether he committed adultery. I take that as more of a rhetorical argument.

We also see that Paul wanted to impart some spiritual gift to the Romans in chapter 1. They may have been lacking to some extent in spiritual gifts.

If God does healings and miracles who I am to be against it. But is really God behind all miracles and healings? In Math.7,21 - 23 we read that not all who are doing great things are accepted from the Lord.
Notice that casting out devils in Jesus' name is one of the works listed that those He would reject would claim to have done. Take a look at Matthew 12. Jesus argued against the idea of Satan casting out Satan.

24 Now when the Pharisees heard it they said, “This fellow does not cast out demons except by Beelzebub, the ruler of the demons.”

25 But Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand. 26 If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand? 27 And if I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges. 28 But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you. 29 Or how can one enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man? And then he will plunder his house. 30 He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad. (NKJV)

If Satan cannot cast out Satan, then what of those who are rejected and sent away in Matthew 7? Are they mistaken? Would they be bold enough to lie about having cast out demons in Jesus' name at the judgment?

Notice they also said they prophesied in Jesus' name. Are all who prophesy regenerate? What about Balaam? He normally resorted to divination, but he prophesied by the Spirit of God. Later, he taught Israel's enemies to entice the people into idolatry using fornication. He became a type of the false teachers who led God's people to stumble through fornication and eating meat offered to idols, and a type of those who teach error in exchange for money.

Caiaphas also prophesied while plotting the death of Christ. Was he a righteous man?

Jesus gave the 12 disciples, including Judas, the power over sickness and disease, but Jesus said none of them is lost but the son of perdition that the scripture might be fulfilled.

The work of the Spirit in power in working miracles and healing, and the work of the Spirit in regeneration are not exactly the same thing.

I prayed with a stranger, she started crying saying the pain was gone and came to church and tithed, without being asked.
I know because I sat near her. She continued to come to church for a time. I am not sure if she still goes.

A man shared that as a child his Christian aunt prayed warts off of his hands. He recalls it today, associating the following blemish-free hand to her praying in Jesus' name.

I know a man who had a heart attack. They thought he would die, well, while praying for him, he experienced a popping in his chest. When he got to the dr.s office, the man was told: you have an extra artery. It was not there before, but it seems to formed. (artery might be the wrong word, but it serves the point: a physiological/biological present-day miracle happened)

I know a man who was paralyzed by pile of bricks crashing onto him. While he was in the bed, some Christians were told to call a number, they called it-- it was him. No, not God; it was the injured man's phone. They eventually prayed with him and, soon after, when the doctor came in, he said, "I think I am better." The dr. replied, "No, you are injured." He started pushing himself upright, "I really think I am okay" The Dr. reminded him of his injury. Then he stood up. "You're standing" and the dr believed.

There was a senior who was slated to die, was in vegetable state. No, not Nebraska :D
He was close to dying, but the church prayed. In his case, he did not die. In fact, the man who forgot, could not talk, and was written off as soon to die...
I've since seen him multiple times in Wendy's with his wife. He talks with me when he sees me. He does not use a cane.
Doctors could not believe the recovery.

My own mom is one of the greatest miracles that I know of personally. She forgot her ABCs in college. No, not alphabet soup :D.
She was plagued with an unknown spell of forgetfulness. She forgot everything. Letters, numbers, went to several hospitals.
but nothing doing, they could not restore her. But my grandmother (her mom) prayed and fought in faith for miracle.
In my mom's case, she was healed... to the point of eventually serving the state in a leadership position.
And she is now busy helping others, including the mother who prayed.

Miracles still happen.
All of these were in Jesus' name.

And who is then working in sects/cults? Who is working in the false prophets? Who gives them the power for healing and miracles? It is not God, but Satan. If your doctrine with the miracles and healings today would be based on Scripture teaching, why then it is not clear mentioned in the Scripture and began with the Pentecostal movement and found ground in the charismatic waves during the last 100 plus years. Are in your eyes only the sign gifts spiritual gifts? Where you found this? And to get any gift is not a question of a mature christian life, otherwise these gifts would not found in Corinth. Still you left my question open. Was Parham right in his doctrine?

Cessationism is the theological innovation, which is about 150 years old or so. Where were the cessationists before then?

Was Parham right in his doctrine?
Parham was a human being. He was probably right about a lot of things and wrong about a lot of things like most of us. Did he teach something truly unorthodox in his doctrine?

Well, before him nobody taught the doctrine from the second baptism with the Holy Spirit and as proof for to got it, the gift of speaking in tongues. This doctrine was then created from the Scripture but not found in the NT churches and in the churchhistory. When then we see how this doctrine splittet the Christianity till today. Look the splittings in the Pentecostal movement, i mention F.e. the oneness movement with around 24 million members which teaching clear a wrong doctrine and reminds to an cult. This all made through the Holy Spirit who leads into the truth. Which spirit is really behind?
I don't think it was nessasary to distinguished between continueism and cessationism, because their was no reason before.

I had a similar experience; as a firefighter/emt we had been doing CPR on a patient but to no effect and the medics decided to call it off. I felt the Spirit move, so I laid my hand on his chest and softly spoke in Jesus Name be healed. His heartbeat came back. Only one person there actually heard what I said, he came to me afterward and simply said isn't God amazing.

Yep He sure is!
That is AMAZING. pleased my heart to hear this. What an awesome God we serve.

I'm not clear on this. Was this experience a 'real life' experience or a dream or vision?
Sorry about that, that is entirely my fault, that i was not more clear, and can most certainly see how it could be confusing. i was responding to another post about dreams and visions being clear, and like the other post they went on to tell of a miracle that happened.

The miracle that happened was a real life event. It was not a dream or vision, but what actually happened. So sorry about the confusion, i will try to do better the next time.

Oh and thank you, for not attacking me on this or using my words against me in some manner, you merely asked me to explain instead of doing what is common practice on CC, and for that, i am Truly grateful. God Bless you and those that you love.

garee,

Paul said salvation is not by works.
Getting Saved is not by works. Walking Saved, is a whole lot of works. Jesus Commanded us to Love One Another, how is that not works?

Have you noticed that the miracles we hear about are not in mega churches done by great scholars but by simply people with great faith.

The people of Christ's day lived a very different life than we do. We often get more worldly information in a day than they did in a lifetime. We have many different seminaries all giving a bit different interpretations of scripture with many different doctrines. They had few seminaries with the Gamaliel one a main one. Paul graduated from there, but when he was chosen by Christ to be an apostle to the gentiles he received knowledge of truth, so he retained the knowledge of the Father, but not the doctrine he learned there. Our Christian world is filled with doctrine.

Once we put something in our minds it stays there. In 2 Timothy it explains what all this worldly information creates in us, and it warns us of learning without gaining truth.

2Ti 3:7 always learning and never able to come to a knowledge of the truth.

To give us miracles God would need to get by the TV shows, the movies, the thoughts of judgments we have of others without giving them acceptance and forgiveness, and all of the worldly information we are presented with in our life today.

Without reading other's statements, IMHO the answer is ...... Jesus was establishing His body the Church (His Kingdom) and He was providing proof of His deity and His claims. Now that His Church (His Kingdom in which we are ambassadors) has been established and up and running for over 2000 years, these miracles aren't as necessary. For Jesus said blessed is the man who doesn't need a sign to believe (John 20:29).

Many Christians here on CC totally agree with you. But this kind of thinking is exactly why so many Christians are not seeing victories and miracles and break throughs in their lives. Looking for "signs" is different than living a life of great expectations from a loving God who 1st has given us His best...His only Son. And then the provision from the Savior who promises when we believe the Lord is my Shepherd., I shall not lack. We shall see those promises come to pass in our lives. But only when we believe what He says in His Word and through His Holy Spirit. We are daily encouraged to EXPECT from the Lord.

Jesus is STILL establishing His church even now more are being added to the number. His miracles are just as needed today as ever. Faith is always being established by the Holy Spirit in the lives of His people and before those who are yet to BE His people. This idea so many Christians have that there is no more need for unearthly things by way of showing the heavenly things is beyond frustrating to me when I come to CC. No faith in seeing Jesus hand in a life will show no hand in a life. No prayer., no answers. You have not because you ask not. How much plainer can it be? But he who asks but ask in believing..,in faith. And the Lord is not One not to give many encouragements along the way.

We are told to live by faith and not by sight. When we live by faith we will see amazing things here on earth because God's hand is involved in our lives and the lives of those we have anything to do with. If we live by sight., we see only those things that are earthly and limited. We will limit Jesus in our lives by our unbelief. Is it any wonder we don't see provision in many lives in the church body today? I do not wonder at it anymore at all. I see provision in the lives of those who believe but not in the lives of those who don't. Myself included so I have come to see the drastic need to walk by faith and not by sight.

I was introduced to the ministry of Curry Blake this past Monday and am growing greatly in the wisdom and knowledge of our Lord through it.
He speaks of why His signs and wonders have had ebbs and flows and how this last, great, move is now.
https://youtu.be/oxDPENVTZXQ

The second in this series of teachings tells of the Spiritual link between John G.Lakes ministry and his.
Please enjoy just the first few minutes and see if it resonates in your soul as His truth is taught.
Our churches didn't die for our sins, we are not Lutherans, methodists, etc. who are Christians, we are Christians who may attend Lutheran, Methodists, etc. churches at this time, so often what we were taught was wrong on how He works in our lives.
I believe and am sure many here are seeing it, there is an increase now, right now, in His move of His Spirit.
Recently I heard a teaching speaking of revival- You won't see it,
You won't know it,
You won't recognize it,
Unless you are part of it.

We are ALL going to have to grow up in Him
Blessings

I don't know much about these men you speak and have not heard them speak but I agree with what you have said here shittim that the Holy Spirit is moving. It was not the church that died for our sins and we don't stand as Methodists or Baptists or Presbyterians etc... We are Christians who know Jesus died for our sins and we chose to stand and honor Him., not the church affiliation we have come to know and be raised in. Many of us have been taught wrong and we are limiting the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives and the lives of people all over the world because of our propensity to love the familiar even when it is detrimental to our health and faith.

Why Don’t We See Miracles Like the Apostles Did?

I believe we experience some miracles but nothing like they did.
Back at the apostles time it was a more purer time than today, and Christianity was new,and did not have the hypocrisy as today, and they were more zealous at the early Church, and divisions were not prevalent at that time, like today with the many different denominations.

Time is was happened, for through the course of time human nature did the damage, which Jesus said when He comes back will He find faith.

1.Lack of Faith.
2.Hypocrisy to not act like Christ, led by the Spirit.
3.Jesus said since iniquity shall abound the love of many shall wax cold.
4.Evil men shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.
5.The end time many claiming Christ will be increased with goods, and rich, and say they have need of nothing.
6.Highly selfish,highly arrogant.
7.Disobedient to parents.
8.Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof, ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God.
9.The Bible misinterpreted more than any other time in history, even to the point of Christian Science,Scientology, and the new age movement.

At the end time with the condition of the world, and many hypocrites claiming Christ, there will not be healings like there were back in the early Church.

Jesus said a sinful and adulteress generation requires a sign, and the Bible says the last generation will be the worse of all the generations, disobedient to parents, highly selfish, and highly arrogant, aggressive towards each other, and will devour the poor from off the earth, and the neeedy from among men, because of their love of money to exalt themselves, which they can do at that time because money is flowing like never before, especially in America.

Selfishness, arrogance, self exaltation,is higher among people at this time than at any other time before it,and will get worse, for that is the direction they are going.Ever since Adam and Eve sinned, the world has been headed towards the beast kingdom, and when the transgressors come to the full, then the last king will cause all who do not love God to follow his kingdom, and then it will be over as God puts them down.
