On those occasions that you purposely disobeyed the Lord, you became his enemy. Hopefully you repented quickly.
sorry my friend but I disagree. We were his enemy but no longer. When Jesus said "It is finished" the war between us and God came to an end through Jesus. We now have the right to be adopted by him, that's why we can come before the the throne of God.

Romans 5:1-2
Chapter 5
Faith Triumphs in Trouble
Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

The word peace is one that has the following connotation

a state of national tranquillity exemption from the rage and havoc of war
peace between individuals, i.e. harmony, concordsecurity, safety, prosperity, felicity, (because peace and harmony make and keep things safe and prosperous)of the Messiah's peacethe way that leads to peace (salvation)
of Christianity, the tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and content...

At times I have purposely disobeyed God, does that make his enemy? I think not, just a brat child who got it wrong.
The consequence is on me, as a result it strains our relationship, not on his side as such but mine.

I agree. if a child isn't disciplined then they turn into spoiled brats, I agree with much of what you said except the enemy part I think enemy is perhaps the wrong word to use
Don't worry about the word "enemy." We have enemies who willfully disobey the Lord all the time. They want to be popular and are more than willing to disobey the Lord's will to accomplish that. They cause all kinds of trouble for the Lord. Do you remember how Jesus complained about the hypocrites that made so much trouble for him?

It is one thing to give in to temptation and commit a sin. It is another thing to give your blessing to sin, in an effort to make yourself popular. If you give your blessing to sin, in an effort to make yourself popular (like liberal politicians who bless homosexuality to get votes), be sure the Lord takes notice.

So when I sin and mess up I am his enemy but when I am obedient I am his child then? Seems pretty fickle to me, either I am his child or I am his enemy who I am to him cannot be based on my own works.
when you sin Blain, you do not become His enemy...in fact the opposite, scripture says that He pours out even more graces upon you but each time you sin, for your own good, you should try hard to improve...that way your journey with God will become more joyful...always remember no one on this planet is perfect, we are all pilgrims in the process :D

Maybe I've misinterpreted your post. If so I'm sorry. I do agree with your repost. I thought you were saying that as Christians if we disobey then we become his enemy.

I'm trying to give an insight into the world. The Lord tells us the world is an evil place. What makes it evil? What makes it evil, I believe, is that so many people would rather please each other than please the Lord. In other words, they will happily break the Lord's commandments if that makes people happy. It is a path that we must resist following.

Words have meaning and power father knew this more than anyone Psalm 33:6 By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth.

To call someone an enemy is not something to be taken lightly

When someone intentionally leads people astray for his own benefit, he becomes an enemy. You need to know this so you don't try it yourself.

Well, I don't think we should compromise with the devil, if that is what you think I should do. I make sure I get a day of rest each week.

Ok so the people who have no choice but to work seven days a week or they get sacked are of the devil...
this thread reall is the world if you ask me its full condenation.

The sabath is to be honored but you can still honor it and work as Jesus said pick up your bed and walk..

The fact that i have a hard time honoring my earthly father,,,as do millions who are either fatherless (earthly father.)
or whatever we are told to die to sin daily... meaning no one of the old t could keep the commandments... And that is why we have Jesus...sin is sin whether its breaking the commandments or not still sin... what you should have asked was do you sin and not do you break the commandents ,,, which again has nothing to do with you...

The intention of this thread was to point out we have an enemy. Satan rules this world and tries to lure us all into doing things his way. What you find is a lot of people who might claim to be Christian, but really they ignore Christ's commandments because they know that by ignoring the Lord’s commandments, they make themselves very popular.

So you’ve taken the thread in a different direction. You talk about the sabbath. Yes, the Lord wants us to have a day’s rest each day. I didn’t say you’d go to hell if you didn’t get it, but you’ll get tired.

As for honoring your dad, I doubt if you understand the commandment. You don’t have to bow down to him. Just refrain from telling the world bad things about him, unless it becomes necessary to do so.
