****I think preachers should talk less about giving----and Church members should give much more money to fund the
Gospel...
It could be argued that the preaching on giving leads to your desired result of church members giving more money for the purposes of the Kingdom. Well... if certain individuals actually gave to the cause people put their money in for, as opposed to lining their pockets.

I don't attend Pentecostal churches..... I guess we will have to depend upon members of those churches, like you, to inform us.
:)I go to a non-denominational church, but I use to go to a pentecostal church, but I do watch Donnie Swaggert on tv a lot and he Is pentecostal and he speaks In tongues a lot without an Interpreter and he says,Its his way of worshipping.

Going back to the title thread.

Obtuse whinney people who take everything for granted and give nothing back, but
they moan and whine a lot and never think to say thank to the pastor and other
hard working volunteers in church.

When the preacher thats giving the message Is constantly speaking In tougues without someone Interpreting what Is being said Is this out of order or Is It just a form of worship?

:)I ask because I see It In pentecostal churches a lot.
If you're speaking into the microphone then it's annoying. Some are respectful and do it away from the mic

I was one of those people who read the bible every day, went to church several times a week and listened carefully, listened to all radio and TV bible teachers, read all the Christian books...and then one day it hit me. I was listening and reading from bible teachers that did not know what I knew, or else they were revealing some great truth that I had discovered 20 years before. Now for years when I go to church or hear bible teachers ,it is like going back to the fourth grade. Maybe I studied too much?

There's a point at which you have to go from one who is being fed to one who is feeding others. If you've progressed as far as you can in the one, you need to graduate to the next level.

Truth is only available to those who are willing to question what they think they know. Spiritual stagnation can also come when you pigeon hole yourself to beliefs without question. No matter how much we think we know, today is not the day to stop learning. And the day we stop learning is the day things stop being interesting.

And absolutely, too much knowledge is a terrible, horrible thing! :)

People at Church who act judgmental, mean spirited and self righteous. Also, people get caught up in what I call, "THE BIG SHOW" at Church.

I went to this church that was out of town in the middle of nowhere here in my area. I really liked it a bunch. There was some music played, at the very beginning, they played a few songs while people came in and sat down. Then they ended their set, and the pastor came up to the stage and began talking. I really liked his message, it really spoke to me and encouraged me, and I even really felt like I learned something, and was given a new way to look at things.

The people there were polite, but they didnt make you feel like you were being forced into their "collective" or anything : p It was a very pleasant experience and I really liked that church alot.

Wish I could still go to it. Sadly I cannot drive, and my job has just finally started giving me sundays off regularly. Maybe I can find a way to start going there again.

From the other thread

Yes, my wife and I are part of the greeting ministry in which we greet people as they enter the church and we hand out church bulletins. We really enjoy greeting people and making them feel warm and welcome when they get to church. :)

I posted one on each, my post on here was about ungrateful Christians that go
to church, rather than directly the church. :D

I just find it a very telling story that given the opportunity to praise or gripe, griping garners 3 times the responses in 1/4 of the time.

That bugs me hugely... in both the world and even more so in the church.

You're one of the consistently positive forces around here :) You've earned the right to gripe a bit by not doing so elsewhere.

It bugs me when some churches (and maybe they shouldn't even be considered churches) preach contrary to what the Bible says. I don't mean have different interpretations of some verses or confusion over which Old Testament laws apply to Christians. I had one pastor who believed everyone went to Heaven because Jesus gave a gift and regardless of whether or not we accepted the gift it had been given. Another believed that the verse referring to the wolf dwelling with the lamb referred to the idea that our sinful natures would still be present in Heaven. Neither of these theories are Biblical and they blatantly disregard other verses.

It also bugs me when Christians are so eager to demonstrate that they know the truth that they lie and say they don't sometimes doubt or are confused about certain issues. To be fair, I've been guilty of this in the past, so I'm not saying this applies to others but not me. I get angry with myself when I do this, as well. I just think that there are a lot of issues that we talk about and don't admit that we sometimes wonder if other interpretations are correct or if we're looking at things the wrong way, or even question God about.
