What are some scriptures that command us to defend God, the gospel or the truth? Why would an all powerful God need defending from little old us?

I was also thinking about how it is God who calls us to repentance. But also how we are members of the body and each of us has certain talents....some are hands and feet and ears and lips kinda thing.

Lol. It also warns us about being a "teacher". That if claim the be one we will be held to a higher standard. Seems like you better have your ducks in a row if you're teaching Gods word. Lol

I would not want to be in heaven, and see all the people who followed me to hell if I was wrong. would you?

"And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might." Deut 6:5

"...a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he." Deut 32:4

"But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel." Phil 1:17

Cool post reminds me of what Jesus said no comment. :)

Mark 15:3-9
3And the chief priests began to accuse Him of many things.
4Then Pilate questioned Him again, “Do You not answer? Look how many charges they are bringing against You!”
5But to Pilate’s amazement, Jesus made no further reply.

He did answer them.

67 Art thou the Christ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, ye will not believe:
68 And if I also ask you, ye will not answer me, nor let me go.
Luke 22

Jude 1:1-4
Jude, a bond-servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James,

To those who are the called, beloved in God the Father, and kept for Jesus Christ: May mercy and peace and love be multiplied to you.

Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints.

For certain persons have crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ
.

Nice. I see this specifically talking about people who came into the company of the early church in order to undermine it.

Defending God?
As Born again Christian Believers. Were are vessels to be used for Gods Purpose. That is sharing the Truth and the Light of of Jesus. We are to be Salt of the Earth. Salt is a preservative and may come off as Bitter to those who are not of God, or knowing of God. It is also a Blessing who have a heart for wanting to learn and know of God.

We do these things not of our own power or understanding. But by the power of the Holy Spirit within us.
For he who is in me, Is greater then what is in the world AMEN!

I think most Christians understand this. How do you know it it's the Holy Spirit or just you and your particular bend about whatever the situation is?

I think this is where the breakdown occurs.. and where the heated debates are grown out of.

Then it snowballs into dehumanization of the other person. Kinda like that dude in the other thread who likes to call us "mockers". I get it, I know why people do it. It's because of intellectual spiritual and emotional laziness.

Hey Sirk, Reply with Quote not working.
How do we know if its the Holy Spirit or just us with a particular bend on the situation?
There is a thread asking members how we know if God is talking with us. That may be worth taking a peek at. ;)

Scripture says Gods works through the heart. Members on CC spoke of a tugging, pulling, prompting of the heart when God speaks to them. It would seem we can have Head knowledge of a situation. Other times we have a prompting of the heart when things come to mind.

Your concern of Teaching and being held accountable to a higher standard? God judges the heart. It would seem then we could misinterpret some scriptures. Not be read up completely for giving every correct Biblical answer all the time. If our intentions are for the good of the Kingdom of God. This would be pleasing to God, even with a few screw ups.

I like that. Intentions are something I've spent a great deal of time thinking about. With my own son I know that for the most part his intentions are good. I even know that in spite of my bad behavior sometimes that my intentions are good and I dont ever intend to inflict harm on people. It could also be argued that Stalin or Hitler had good intentions behind their atrocious behaviors.

Matthew 10:32 - "Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father in heaven". Gods word doesn't need defending he gives everyone a chance to accept it or reject it. The Lord desires for noone to perish however he's not going to force anyone to accept him & be with him for eternity. What we are to do is proclaim his word from the rooftops as the scriptures says.
