Calling them names, making fun of them.. Acting like they know what the other person is doing, saying, feeling or going through. Dictating what they want other people to do, and then not even do it themselves..
Exactly. Putting negative labels on another human being is spiritual abuse. We all do it. The grace people do it and the sinless people do it.

It's not only in the BDF, Sirk.. The singles forum is just as bad, if not worse than the BDF.
News forum also, which of course Sirk knows about. I was thinking recently about how polarized everything seems to be these days but really, this is nothing new.

There are no sinless people, Sirk.. The ones who say they are, are bald-faced liars..

So my question is I guess....what are ways that people abuse each others humanness?
Some people just cant have a respectable debate. Some cant handle confrontation & that's where the insults fly.

Not necessarily. Some flip their gourd when their beliefs aren't shared by others. Then words like heretic, blasphemer, and demon-possessed witch get flung around..

This is so true. I can give fifty Scriptures to support my view and then people will say I ignore Scripture because they give one verse that seems to disagree with my fifty! LOL!!! Meanwhile they refuse to deal with the fifty

That's because people like to cherry pick and twist Scripture to suit their point..

Amen, sister. One of the people involved still refuses to admit to me that he was in error in any way, even after falsely accusing me of a number of things. He simply repeatedly refuses to acknowledge his error.
A man can only rule his own house and he can only set an example himself - he can't force another to set an example. To try to do so will only cause him to be trampled worse. So we let our own behavior as we just continue on in the Spirit, in an unruffled peace, pour hot coals on his head.

Some people allow their emotions get in the way of truth which is unfortunate. I literally saw multiple people point out a persons error & it was like they didn't want to hear anything but what they believed

If you think the majority is always right, perhaps you are in for a very rude awakening. Who do you think put Jesus Christ on the cross and nailed Him there to die? The minority, or the majority?

Well, people may not always know the truth of a situation. One or more members may have more info about it that no one else knows, so when it seems like they're stuck on what they believe, it's because they DO know what's REALLY going on in that situation. Let's just say that a situation presented, is NOT what the person ACTUALLY wants to speak about.

Happens to me alot. I have lots of info on different situations, that I'd rather not know.. lol

The majority, of course.. And it's the same thing here. People are ready to crucify you if you look at them crooked..

You don't even have to look at them crooked. In fact, I would say it is looking at them straight on and seeing them for who they are that rattles people. Their denial will not allow them to admit to the truth of what is seen. Jesus spoke to this also :)

I wonder if the anonymity affords people a little more boldness than they normally have. In my experience in everyday life tho people are pretty combative. I see people practically coming to blows as a fairly normal thing at least in the construction industry. I know a few people around here that might end up with a black eye if they talked to people face to face like they do here.

As for me, I'm not a fighter. I'd rather people had peace in their hearts.

Unfortunately, Kris, there is more strife, contention and evilness on this site, than there is peace and happiness. :(

In the BDF i mean. People calling each other liars and heretics? Where people seem to be more concerned with everybody else's salvation? As if they're "on a mission from God" to put someone in their place. Is that what the Christian walk means to people? An outward circumstance in relation to ourselves? Seems like so much of the world even acts that way. They just use a different language.
Many people who do those things come here because they aren't allowed to preach in their local churches.

Or they have been thrown out because they called their local preacher a heretic.

Or they left because they didn't feel comfortable enough to say what they post here.

We do have a few who come here because of medical reasons that have them stuck at home.

However I have found many who visit this site dont have a local church they attend.

I come because I can't attend as many Bible studies as I would like, and have found folks to fellowship with.

You just have to listen to the quiet ones and not the self proclaimed teachers and prophets who try and take over the forum.

Well i've seen people blantly reject scripture that even a babe in Christ would understand. They tell themselves God wouldn't do that while the scriptures clearly states he does. Then they label people names for pointing out scripture. When it comes to that point it's better to leave them to themselves while they create their own truth they desire to have over scripture
