Do you love your parents? Is that a sin?
Does a beautiful sunrise make you feel good? Is that a sin?
Do you own a computer, or a car or anything else man- made that you use daily? Is that a sin?
In all fairness, a beautiful sunrise makes me feel good when I see a picture of it. To actually experience it? That means I have to be awake before the sun rises. Ew! Give me a sunset instead. lol

i am sorry

i dont love this world

i was emancipated as a minor but yes i love my "parents"

just as i love allll my brothers and sisters

but i dont put them before God

i dont go out and visit family or go to movies

im working towards having nothing but work sleep hygine and the Word

thats all i want in my heart
(well if i could id take out that work part)
but ya ive put worldy things before me when im being worldy and not showing my Father the love he deserves

no i dont love cars or sunsets or w.e else you said

but if you needed help id do what ever i could for you
Really, work, sleep, hygiene, God? Where does "love your neighbors fit" in? What is it about God, if you don't even take the time to enjoy what he gives you?

There is this pretty purple flower that grows around here. The entire plant is about the size of my thumb. It's not native to the area, so it's considered invasive, but it's just so darn pretty. If you look at it closely the tiny little details God put into it are truly amazing. (Want to capture it on camera, but the camera doesn't do that close.) It's just a weed that takes over lawns at parks around here, but God made it just to enjoy. And he put it out of its original habitat, in part, so I could find it. (I really like the different shades of purple in flowers.)

If I worked, slept, showered/shampooed/shaved, and spent time only in God's word, I would have never seen that flower. If that's all I did, I'd also wouldn't do anyone else any good.

If your only purpose is to give up without swapping it for something good, it is useless. It's also ignoring what God has already given us to enjoy. I may never have seen a feathered dino, but I see tiny purple flowers that shouldn't be there.

God doesn't say, "give up" like that. He says, "Give in!" Give in to what he wants, not austerity!

I posted a similar thread a while ago. I asked if there were video games in heaven and if there where would we even care if there was. Could you see Jesus and I chilling on a couch eating Doritos and drinking mountain dew while playing mario kart? Or does that sound like something he wouldn't do. My question is if you could see anything in heaven what would you want it to be? Oh and if you want to give me "video games are evil" do it on another thread, this is just for fun.
Sure there will be video games in heaven and other types of recreation you can't even imagine at this time.

Sounds like a very dull and joyless life. Soaking in the Word will do you little good if you don't put what you learn in practice in serving the Lord. God wants us to have life and have it abundantly. There is nothing wrong with getting enjoyment out of God's creation and the things that He provides.

finished reading it

i never said i dont thank God for what he provides

and i never said i didnt fill in that time with better things that are of God

like sermons instead of games
street preaching instead of bad music
fellowship even if its on the internet to try and show what ive been shown instead of sports

im not saying im sanctified saying that that road doesnt involve conforming to the world but seperating from it

But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. I Corinthians 2:9

I live in the woods and have 10 cabins (9100) square feet of cabins....and 9 cats....they all love me and will lay their heads on your shoulder for a good petting AHHAH

Hmmm. Maybe more people should read the book of James for some practical Christian application. Oh never mind, that would just transfer them to the works/righteousness threads

Nice verse....what about the next one?

But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit
: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

what about it?

do you know all that will be there?

I sure don't

we won't even really know Jesus until we see Him face to face

I'm content to wait. there will be animals. Jesus is riding a white horse in Revelation

Sure I do but you live in the world and can't shut yourself out of it. I take joy in eating too and watching football on TV and spending time alone with my wife. It is hard to minister to others if you just dwell on the Word but don't act on it.

I literally read James every Saturday evening, all five chapters. I have a lot of it memorized now, but I still get something new out of it almost every time :). It's solid, practical advice on how to live the Christian life, and it prepares me for another week of striving to live like Christ did. Its one of my favorite books in the Bible :)

How can you help (anyone) if you isolate yourself?
How can you know how to help if you don't know what peoples lives are about?

I remember being given an assignment in programming, to make a game similar to "angry birds"
... I'd never played it (I tend to avoid the popular stuff :p ), so I had to find out what it was about to do the assignment.
- You have to know what the world is about to be part of it. Not saying you have to go crazy and spend all your day playing video games or getting drunk ... but you have to be enough out there, in the world, to know the people who do,

... and, to be honest, I think God wants you to enjoy life.
