This would normally go in the news forum but I think the question needs to be asked, how should we as a church deal with gay people? The Bible is clear that it is 100% wrong, that being said how can we show compassion and lead people out of this bondage instead of closing the church doors in their faces and leaving them to satans hands?

This link is about a girl that came out to her Mormon church. I have several issues with it but it begs the question, what should the church do about gay congregants?

The church should speak the truth. Homosexuality is an act that happens in the bedroom, it is not a personality that you are born with. This is where the great deception comes from. They circulate this belief that gay people are born that way, as if they are another step in the evolution process, such as they are a different kind of human being. Perhaps their own species. They are only seeking to be recognized and loved. They mistake the attention they get for being prideful in their own gay religion for love. If only we could get them to see that God is all we need. If you give everything for God and live for him, they could see this. There is a perversion that comes with the territory also. People are not willing to give up their sexual desires for God, they let their lusts dominate their life. Homosexuality is no more a sin than adultery is. The difference is, if people paraded and were prideful in their adultery, they would be exposed.

Gays are so outwardly pressing the gay religion that it has become the greatest attack to our Christian faith. They take the rainbow, what God has made to be holy, and they made it desolate. Many of the lgbt religious followers are naïve, and have no clue. The best way we can reach them is to show them God's love and not God's condemnation. God will judge them. That does not mean that we are to allow them to spread lies about God's word. If they are re-writing God's word, that is where we have a responsibility to correct them. There is nothing wrong with us saying, "homosexuality is a sin, and here is what God's word says about it." Never feel guilty for speaking God's truth, even unto death. Many deceivers are sent out to change God's word and confuse everybody into believing that people are born as a gay species of human, and they are mislead to think that it is not an act of sexual immorality that happens sexually and physically. The devil is hard at work, and he is using the gay religion to destroy.

Do not be deceived, but fill your hearts with truth. Most will reject the truth and persecute you because they are trained to respond with offensive attacks, most have already rejected God in his whole Glory. Some of these people are lost and do not know any better. The first step in realizing how to defeat this evil principality is to understand that everyone of us is human. We are individuals, and we were all created by God. Do not try to see them as a group but see each person individually as someone who is loved by God, and God wants to know them but they have been given the ability to choose whether to be good or whether to be evil. Sadly, some people want evil over God. All can receive God's forgiveness, if they seek the Lord diligently they will find him. They have to make that choice, we cannot force them. How many of us were once horrible sinners and that rejected God, yet we repented and God saved us and used us for his awesomeness?

We should never sugar coat the truth but come right out with it. We can start by saying, "I do not believe in lgbt or the gay religion, God's word says homosexuality is a sin such as other fornications.". The church should not allow open glorification of sin in the church but should not turn away anyone who yearns for God's truth. If gays are going to the church... why are they there? To create division, to get even with God, or are they truly seeking? A true seeker of God is willing to wash their garment of every spot and is not reserved. Their intent will serve it's own illumination if they are there to create mischief.

If the Church preaches the Bible, they need to teach the whole Bible. I don't want God to ask me why I let my neighbors believe a lie when I had the chance and ability to tell the truth.

Could you expand on that? Do we allow them to show affection to one another in front of children? Do we tell them they are in sin and preach about it or do we ignore it and just let them attend service and hope they come to understand its sin?

I feel like mostly, the whole abomination thing is not being said correctly. Because it is the sexual act itself that is the sin and abomination. But if they, just as I, have gotten over myself, then they'd go onto read the rest of the Bible and understand that man and woman who are unmarried and fornicate are sinners as well. Because nowhere did the Bible say I couldn't tell a girl she was beautiful. At least, I haven't come across that verse yet. I just shouldn't idolize them, and obviously have sex with them, which is completely fine with me because that's what God said, and quite frankly I'm tired of going round and round with him. Lol. I think we all sometimes, want the Bible to justify our actions, but it's just not going to happen!

I personally have struggled with this issue all my life. First off, being a believer of Jesus Christ from a young age I can tell you how horribly it affected me hearing my pastor say that being gay is an abomination. Or really the act of man laying with man and woman laying with woman, which is the abomination itself. But hearing that, horribly affected my relationship with God, I mean in my head I thought: "oh he hates me, but all of these other sinners, he loves and forgives." Plus, I was always taught church is for the sinner, which just messed me up even more. To this day, I don't go to church because I'm scared I'm going to walk in and everyone is going to know I struggle with same sex attraction, and their all going to throw bible verses at me and act as if they have never ever sinned. Why would anyone ever choose to be hated by god or want to willingly be an abomination?
If we could imagine for a moment God preaching his word at a church, and he sees me coming and because he's God he already knows everything about me, do you think he would tell me, please don't come in I don't want you to hear my word, it just might keep you from getting saved, from being changed, from being transformed???
If God doesn't turn anyone away and I'm supposed to go to church so God can really truly help me work out my problems. Why is there any church in the world that doesn't allow gay people in? And also, it needs to be taught to all sinners everywhere not just gay people, that God wants us to control our emotions and feelings, which is pretty much why he wants us to live through him.
You are loved sister. I pray the Lord strengthens you when tempted.

I STILL have to mentally force myself to see women as my dear sisters in Christ, and not in a sexual way. My flesh, and the enemy will always try and tempt me. Renewing my mind daily, and remembering my identity in Christ, has made the temptation null and void.

Matt 5:27“You have heard that it was said, ‘YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY’; 28but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

Does this only talk about adultery, or does it show God's heart towards sodomy, beastiality, & all other sexual sins?

I'm definitely getting stronger each and everyday, and quite frankly it's just a mind game. Because sex with anybody male or female, is obviously a sin, and seems rather pointless to me, if we're not married and trying to make a baby. In today's world, sex has just completely lost all meaning. I suppose that's why God says it's a sin, because people seem to become completely dependent on it. As if the number of sexual partners they have somehow equals their self worth.

Well, here we go again. Abominations are separate from sin. Abomination is one that is totally against God, they are called God haters and they do what they want in spite of the word of God.If there was fear in what they do ,then it would'nt be done. They hate the laws of God, because in the first place, they don't want God. They don't want to hear what he has to say. These are the people that will make way for the antichrist, because he will be for them and not against them. God destest these things, they are down right filthy to him. Yes the apostles talked about them, but they also left them to themselves, having nothing to do with them. I guess I just made all this stuff up.!

Im not sure who this is addressed to, but if your talking about my comment I wasn't trying to say that sin and abomination were the same thing. I meant it's the sexual act itself that is the abomination, not the person! Or at least not the person who understands that, and wants to be changed.

If marriage is consummated with sex, would'nt it be so that... whomever man and woman has sex together, they are then married spiritually? Marriage has been legislated to be a legal agreement, that has no similarity to the blessing of God's marriage. What God has bound together let no man unbind. People's idea of marriage and its true Godly meaning are not the same. Two people of the same gender simply cannot be married by God's creation of marriage, it just doesn't work like that. It's like planting an egg and expecting it to sprout a chicken. Therefore, who ever has sex with more than one mate, is in adultery. But you are right, it is not a sin to love someone of the same sex or spend all of your time with them or think they are attractive. If you lust for them and give in to temptation, then you are in sin. Homosexuality is just like any other sexual sin, it is a temptation. We must flee sexual immorality or else we will fall victim to it's temptation and be in sin, and the cost of that is death.

Thatnks for sharing sister, your struggle is no different to my struggle to porn and masturbation. If anyone in any church wants to single out sins, I'd find another church. Church is a place to equipped, not torn down.

Well, thanks for sharing your struggles! And I'll pray they become less of a struggle for ya! As for Church, I honestly feel like after the preacher is done preaching, it should then turn into a support group if you will. Simply, so everyone in the church can open up, and get the support they need. After all, God does want us to support and help one another. Just as an alcoholic has sponsors to help them stay clean.

Yes, the church needs to hate the sin, absolutely, but love the sinner, also absolutely...

Exactly, and even though we've been set free of our sins or what have you doesn't mean at times, your brain doesn't think about them and sometimes a person needs help praying the thoughts or urges away. That's all I'm saying.

Please carefully read this and don't jump to conclusions, as I will be as concise as possible.

I welcome all to my home church. I am not a pastor, but will gladly welcome all who choose to attend. Now, no one who practices sin is saved. I think 1 John 3 clearly lays this out. So, if a gay person comes to take membership, they have to live a Godly life afterwards. That goes for all. Those who continue to practice homosexuality, drunkness, adultery, lying, stealing, murdering, raping, molesting, &c. need to be turned out of church after they have been counselled and refuse to abide by what the bible says. Those practicing homosexual acts and those who are being adulterous(sex with others and not their spouse) both need tossed out if they refuse to stop. Same goes with other sins I previously mentioned.

Seeing that any sex outside of marriage is sin, and male/male and/or female/female will never be accepted as biblical marriages, it needs to be stopped before it causes strife in a church.

I like to make the difference between a person who engages in homosexual relations and a person who deals with temptation but chooses not to act out on them when talking about homosexuality. I think being "gay" is an identity. When people tell you they are gay, they are telling you that they engage in homosexual relations. I mean, when someone goes to a gay bar or gay club, the entire purpose is to be around people who do the same thing as you.

When the conversation comes up on "how should we treat gay people", I take it as in people who engage in that lifestyle. I do not identify as "gay", because it would lead people to believe that I engage in that lifesyle too. If I call myself a "gay Christian", I lead others to believe that I show support for that behavior in the Christian community.

Thats my opinion, anywho. If we are talking about "gay" people, I take that to mean those who are still a part of that lifestyle, and not those who have accepted that its the wrong path to take, and have chosen to practice self control. Those kind of people are no different than any other Christian, every single one of us are tempted to do wrong. Its something that every one of us here can relate to.

I think gay is the wrong word to use to begin with. Gay, in olden times meant happy, so we can see how word meanings change. The KJV's usage of 'gay clothing' and today's 'gay clothing' are miles apart in meaning. Seems like there was once a saying, "They're so dumb, they're happy." Seems like 'gay' was a perjorative directed at them, but could be wrong here.

Then the 'F' word came from them being burned at the stake with a measure of wood that was called 'F'. So that word is a bundle of wood. Then the 'Q' word means odd and ppl started calling them that word because it is odd to be that way.

They need to be called what they are, homosexual. Just like I am heterosexual. Homosexual is not a perjorative like the 'F', 'Q', or gay words are.

I pray ppl know the thoughts I am expressing here at not full of malice.

Then this should be your second all time favorite Bible verse...

Matthew 22:14
For many are called, but few are chosen.
Your second favorite verse is not the most comforting. Hopefully, you are one of those few that were chosen.

That's exactly my point, we're probably going to always have thoughts of sin or the urges to do something God said we're not allowed to do, mainly because we're human. However, if God saved you like he's done for me or others than there's no reason you can't control yourself, or your urges.
