The ever abounding excuses and also yet, the convictions of the heart. People around the world feeling unworthy to step foot in a church for fear that they may be a hypocrite to the standards proclaimed therein. Do you not know that the difference between those within and those without is simply belief in Jesus Christ, the Savior? Do you not know that those within too are hypocrites, also falling short of the standard of perfection that is God's righteousness? God's word says that all fall short of His glory. Everyone, there is not one of us who are perfect in all of His ways.

This being the case, why would we not go to church? Why would we forsake that which we need? Even so, forsake those that need us? Yes, the people in the church need you. God so desires to work in and through you to lift up others, so enough with the excuses. You are essential to those you meet, in divinely set encounters. You are not a hypocrite, you are a human in need of God's sanctification. Part of that process can happen in that church you're avoiding. So step in, walk in love, and be open (and listening) for His leading.

This is an accompanying song, that while listening to it I could see it speaking to those who have fallen short, and feel defeated. It doesn't have to be so, as the song says "its only one day." While I don't think its a Christian band, the song itself is powerful when understood that God doesn't condemn us and mistakes/errors happen. Yet, move forward, and rise to new heights.

BenFTW: I have spent about the first 25 percent of my life going to one ‘church,’ by force. I became exposed to the Bible, God and Jesus through creeds, dogma, rituals and catechisms.

I spend the next 15 percent of my time roaming from ‘church’ to church,’ on my own accord. I found a relationship with my Lord Jesus Christ and learned a lot about scripture especially in bible studies.

I haven’t been back to a ‘church’ since that time. I’m happy for it. I now learn about scripture alone, with family, a few friends in-Christ, and in forums like this one; and I’m really growing, well I believe I am growing.

Today for me, and only for myself, I do not find going to a ‘church’ beneficial for my spiritual growth. There are too many distractions, secular type social gatherings, and those creeds and dogmas, and even false preachers that are impediments to knowing what my Lord Jesus Christ with the spirit within wants in my daily walk.

Now the question is, based on my feedback, am I a hypocrite by not going to a ‘church?’ And that is a ‘church’ as it commonly understood, and I believe you intended.

In Christ, Always

There are those that avoid going to church because they are not walking perfectly in righteousness and therefore have decided to avoid going all together based upon their supposed hypocrisy. This judgement is one they have made of their own self, that they don't wish to be a hypocrite. Its not that not going makes you a hypocrite, its people who feel that they are a hypocrite for going and not doing.

As far as your own personal walk, go where the Lord leads you. That could be a church building or it could be a home fellowship. Most importantly, walk in love, and walk according to His will. Operate in the gifts He has bestowed and edify those around you.

If you let another person ( a Hypocrite?) because of what they think, say, or do, stand between you and God, the other person is actually closer to God than you are. I wonder which is the Hypocrite?

That's great that you're growing, but that could be subjective?
Is our walk about ourselves, or about others?
Do we see church as a place to consume or to bless?
If I wasn't in a gathering that growing with new converts that need to be nurtured and taken care of, its once less place where I can expose myself to the needs of others.. Ey I'm not rebuking you or anything, perhaps I am? But I'm still learning this selfless life myself.

God, grow me! I say, and if listen I can hear Him say, go serve someone.

When you mean church you mean the body of believers, that feed you and clothe you and take care of you when your sick.

The ones who take interest in you and work with you and give you somewhere to stay if your homeless.

Where is that church exactly?

I'm at one. We love to take care of people inside and outside of the church. Just at our last meeting, I turned around at the end and there was someone handing over a bag of groceries to a struggling single mother. It was wonderful, she was so blessed by receiving and knowing someone is thinking, praying for and helping them out. That's just one example of what happens.

Or you could stay away from the churches, spend the time with the Lord and actually grow. Your choice.

This post kind of reminds me of a saying that used to be outside a church near me. They usually post inspirational or witty little sayings on their sign and change them out every now and then. Not sure what it says now, but it used to say, "Church: Now Open Between Easter and Christmas."
Funny, but also sad.
