John 8:19
"Where is Your Father?" they asked Him. "You do not know Me or My Father," Jesus answered. "If you knew Me, you would know My Father as well."

If glory were yours all along, why then would feel the need to seek it? You wouldn't, and since glory is God's, Jesus did not begrudge it.

After all, His attitude, existing in the form of God, was that He did not consider equality to God as something to cling to... but emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death--even death on a cross. Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place, and gave Him the [definitive article] name above all names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. [Philippians 2:7-11]

...however, if you, or anyone else, were to consider equality to God, then this would be robbery, indeed.

Isaiah 42:8 "I am the LORD, that is My name, I will not give My glory to another, Nor My praise to graven images.

John 8
[Subheading] Before Abraham was, I Am

“I do not have a demon,” Jesus replied, “but I honor My Father, and you dishonor Me. I do not seek My own glory. There is One who seeks it, and He is the Judge. Truly, truly, I tell you, if anyone keeps My word, he will never see death.”

Jesus answered, “If I glorify Myself, My glory means nothing. The One who glorifies Me is My Father, of whom you say ‘He is our God.’ You do not know Him, but I know Him. If I said I did not know Him, I would be a liar like you. But I do know Him, and I keep His word. Your father Abraham was overjoyed to see My day. He saw it and was glad.”

“Truly, truly, I tell you,”
Jesus declared, “before Abraham was born, I am!”

IOW, Jesus did not begrudge God's glory, but freely received worship when offered, because... worship IS due Him.

I have a sincere question; my tone is neutral and while I honestly respect your right to your belief (as this is a feature of creation and every man and woman has his/her own free will to inquire as they choose) I am genuinely interested if there is anyone who can provide any sort of proof that Jesus was God.

Before you reply, please try to observe (what I feel to be) are some "given" rules:

1. You may only quote Jesus directly; not someone describing Jesus.
2. It must be unambiguous (not your own interpretation; plain language)

Please; I am not at all interested in what any other "authority" may have said about Jesus, or what they may have described him as; all that is imperative is what Jesus described himself as.

And, go!

Bonus question: When/where did Jesus ever ask/expect one to worship him?
John 10.30-Jesus speaking

[SUP]30 [/SUP]I and the Father are one.”

I find your post among the most sensible I have read, thank you for sharing. Indeed what a powerful idol Jesus has become; the part I'm trying to understand is how did we go from "I alone am just one man" to "I am God in the flesh". It seems almost a complete reversal to me.
you have have been reported to the mods for this thread...and denying Jesus is God....this is agaisnt the rules.

This guy is looking neither for truth nor understanding. All he is doing is looking for a fight. From the very beginning he set the criteria for what he regards as acceptable proof. What his criteria amounts to is "Prove to me that Jesus us God without using the Bible." What this tells me is that he has no regard for the inspiration of the rest of the NT. He does not see scripture as a representation of the mind of God. To him the inspired testimony of the NT writers amounts to nothing more that the personal opinions of those writers and is therefore to be dismissed as untrustworthy. Do not play this guy's game. Ignore him.
I have reported him....The mod, oncefallen, stated on another thread that anyone that speaks against the Divinity of Christ is up for immediate ban....

I think reporting him was a bit rash, he was asking how Jesus is God and cannot understand why people think he is God, now had he attacked Jesus as being God that would be different but asking for help to understand it is not report worthy

Well, they should be banned at some point.

There are several here who do this, attack and or deny the deity of Christ. jaybird is one, and a young girl demi(something or other) does the same as well, among others - denial of the deity of Christ. This has been going on for a long time.

He called Jesus an idol. That's enough right about there.

Matthew 22

While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, 42Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The Son of David. 43He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying,
44The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?
45If David then call him Lord, how is he his son? 46And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.

GOD gave His Son Spirit without measure.

The Messiah when pierced had water and blood run out...

1 John 5

Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? 6This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. 7For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 8And there are three that bear witness in earth, the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.

John 5:22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son

Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

The conclusion is obvious.

...same here. The protection of heresy by the gullible and otherwise on this site is disturbing enough. Especially so concerning Christ. 2 Timothy 4:3

I don't know about Jaybird as i don't think i know him very well but Demi while not understanding that Jesus is God should not be banned, she is still young in faith and even so has amazing insight and understanding and is often times praised by many here for her insight and understanding for being so young and also so young in faith and she rarely ever attacks others even in heated debates, would you have her banned simply because she still is young and has more to grow in understanding? Judge by the fruits of the heart not the doctrine because there other factors to take into account.

just one man.... if this is a statement.. then no He is not just one man.. He is our Lord and Saviour and He is Son of GOD and no other road leads to the Father without the Son. Row your boat down the stream but we will believe unto the saving of our Souls.

Jesus said in John "I and the Father are one.” But it doesn't end there.Look at the reaction of those He was speaking too...
31
Again his Jewish opponents picked up stones to stone him, 32 but Jesus said to them, “I have shown you many good works from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?”

33 We are not stoning you for any good work,” they replied, “but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God.”

In Isaiah it was prophesied the Messiah would be born and He would be called Emmanuel, which means "God with us". Matthew attests to this.

Isaiah also says
"For to us a child is born,to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

In Daniel it is written..."
“In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man,[a] coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence.14 He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed." Which was what Jesus said in Mark when He was before the Sanhedrin.

Mark 14-Then the high priest stood up before them and asked Jesus, “Are you not going to answer? What is this testimony that these men are bringing against you?” 61 But Jesus remained silent and gave no answer.Again the high priest asked him, “Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?”
62
“I am,” said Jesus. “And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.”
63 The high priest tore his clothes. “Why do we need any more witnesses?” he asked. 64 “You have heard the blasphemy. What do you think?”They all condemned him as worthy of death.

In John Jesus said "Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad.”57 “You are not yet fifty years old,” they said to him, “and you have seen Abraham!”
58 “Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!” 59 At this, they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds.

Why did they want to stone Him? Because He used the term "I AM" which the Jews knew was the name Moses was given for God. He is also saying He was alive before Abraham,He existed before His own birth, how is that possible unless He is God?

Colossians says He is "The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.

2:9-For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, 10 and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority.

When Jesus made His entry into Jerusalem they took palm branches and went to meet Him saying "Hosanna, blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord." Hosanna is a term of praise.

After Jesus calmed the storm and walked on water they worshiped Him in the boat. After His resurrection the women "clasped His feet and worshiped Him". Thomas who doubted Him said "My Lord and my God",Jesus never corrected Him or any who worshiped Him.

Please go and learn what logical fallacies are all about. You have employed several here.

Your rules don't limit, encompass, or define TRUTH. They only define what you are willing to accept. Your rules are akin to saying, "Please verbally define "air" without using any."

Nobody has any obligation to play your game. This is called a "burden of proof reversal" and is not valid. If you want to make an assertion, back it up, and invite feedback, go ahead. All you are doing presently is creating a framework whereby your rejection of Jesus as God can be justified (in your mind). If you were truly interested in learning the truth, you would be open to it coming from many sources and through many media.

Your requirement that we quote Jesus directly rules out any valid answer because all we have are quotations of Jesus from other people. Jesus didn't write any books.

Whether or not anyone can meet your ridiculous criteria has little bearing on the truth of the matter. You have defined Jesus for yourself, and despite your claims to the contrary, you have not demonstrated a willingness to learn. When you are truly open to learning, let us know... if you manage not to get yourself banned before then.

All the proof one needs regarding the deity of Jesus is to be found in the empty tomb.

It does not seem right to me to just ban him because he does not believe in the deity of Christ and says so. In his opinion, worshipping Jesus is idolality because he believes Jesus is not God. This is a logical conclusion for someone who does not believe in the deity of Christ. If you know and believe Jesus is God, why take offense? It seems to me that banning people for their beliefs or for offending people because they say something unchristian, gives a poor reflection on Christians.
