The guy says Joel Osteen is weak in Apologetics and theology, which I agree with him about. However he doesn't see WOF movement as heresy. In fact he seems to be a component of it.

I find it kind of funny that the guy actually says he WOULD NOT BUYTHE BOOK, except to review it.

So I apologize, the video is NOT a sales promotion, BUT it is not an unbiased reviewer either.
\
Yes, I watched a little bit of a video that the same guy does where he is supporting the WOF (Word of Life) movement.

So, I listened to the review - The book is to help us find "success, fulfillment, and healing." Kenneth Hagin is mentioned in a positive light. The seven steps to living your full potential given in the book are:
(1) Enlarge your vision
(2) Develop a healthy Self-image
(3) Discover the Power of your Thoughts, and Words
(4) Let Go of the Past
(5) Find Strength through Adversity
(6) Live to Give
(7) Choose to be Happy

Of course each one can be construed to be "Christian" and wonderful. But if I really want to live to my full potential, are these the seven best ways to get there? You be the judge!
If I want seven steps to find my full potential, they will begin with realizing that I cannot do it on my own, and I will need the mercy and grace of God.

Many of us have read Joel o's book. I read it twice trying to figure out why it was being praised by so many.

You aren't really discussing the bible in bible forum JM. You are trying to lead people to certain men and to WOF. You keep talking about discussing but you don't discuss. You just mostly copy and paste WOF teachings. Its apparent that we might need to rethink whether WOF could be classified as a cult rather than just very backwards teaching, based on what you keep doing here.
I'm glad somebody's waking up to the fact that JM does one thing & one thing only............... spread heresy.

This is not the greatest book ever written nor is it one I'd buy

Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding. Prov 23:23

So if you wouldn't buy it then ipso facto. Yet, a man can receive nothing except it be given unto him from heaven, so if you didn't receive it then did you steal it?

This is why we as followers of Christ must teach God's prescribe order of victory (Romans 8:2) with kindness and graciousness so we (Christians) don't enter into the sin of sectarianism; believing that if you are not associated with me, you are not saved, or else, at the best, a second-class Christian, as if there were such a thing (Luke 9:49-50). No effort is to be made to hinder anyone from attempting to do the Work of God even if they disagree.

Luke 9:49-50 King James Version (KJV)

[SUP]49 [/SUP]And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us.[SUP]50 [/SUP]And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us.

This is a book review done by a Christian man on line named Ron Saunders from "Jew and Greek" who brings truth to light about controversial Christians and what they actually do hold to vs what they have been accused of holding to . Ron Saunders does his due diligence to show the truth apart from prejudice and I really appreciate that.

I've shared many of my views and most of my threads get taken over by the same people who do not believe in healing in the atonement. I never realized how other Christians could disassemble another Christian and then put them back together so wrongly and present it as the truth.

This review is about Joel Osteen's book "Your Best Life Now" I was very surprised about it's contents since I've never read the book and figured it was more of a motivational book. Which it is but it also has Biblical principals. I was also very happy to find out about Joel's father John Osteen. Amazing man of God. I hope you who came to this new thread will give Ron Saunders book review a listen. It gave me a new perspective on Joel O. and a great appreciation for His dad.

joaniemarie,,, I have to admit I have never read His book either and the likelyhood of a future read is Zero....You see you title is something that comes out of his mouth all the time.

"Your Best Life Now" If one believes that this is or could be true then It most likely is and will be!

Well, of course I won't watch the video. I rarely watch any video, especially if they are over 5 minutes long. Give me the transcript and let me read it in 2 or 3 minutes, instead.

Anyway, I think we have dealt enough with what a horrible book Joel Osteen wrote, and the reviewer is Word Faith, and how Joanie NEVER responds to anything anyone said.

So, for comic relief, the Babylonbee has Joel Osteen covered.(Sorry Joanie, you may not get the jokes!)

[h=1]Joel Osteen Assures Church He Will Continue To Preach False Gospel In Spite Of Critics[/h]

HOUSTON, TX—After enduring criticism for what some felt was a poor response to the Hurricane Harvey crisis on the part of Lakewood Church, Pastor Joel Osteen proudly stood in front of his congregation Sunday morning and reassured his church members that he would continue to preach the false prosperity gospel, even in the face of withering criticism.

Osteen graciously responded to unfair criticism of his ministry by redoubling his efforts to deceive millions of people into believing an unbiblical distortion of the gospel.
“There will always be voices of negativity in your life,” Osteen said to the cheers of the crowd. “There will always be haters. There will always be those that don’t want God’s best for you. I just want each and every one of you to know that no matter how much critics try to tear me down, I will be here, speaking words of positivity over you and preaching the false gospel of prosperity into your lives.”
“Remember, they can talk about Lakewood Church all they want, but we have to choose to remain vigilant in our mission to spread the completely made up modern American gospel of health and wealth. God will help us pursue our destiny to promote the Word-Faith movement as long as we continue to name and claim God’s blessings and release His power in this church!”

[h=1]Joel Osteen Launches Line Of Pastoral Wear: ‘Sheep’s Clothing’[/h]
HOUSTON, TX—Pastor Joel Osteen of Lakewood Church is a bestselling author, motivational speaker, and preacher—and now, he’s also the head of a profitable pastoral fashion line: “Sheep’s Clothing by Joel Osteen.”

The line of suits, pants, shirts, ties, and dress shoes is designed to distract from a pastor’s empty theology and dangerous heresies by disguising him in attractive, fashionable clothing.
“They’ll notice your suit, not your apostasy,” the brand’s tagline states.
According to Osteen, Sheep’s Clothing has already gotten several prominent pastors and teachers to endorse the line, including Benny Hinn, Creflo Dollar, Paula White, and Kenneth Copeland, among others.
“Whenever I want to blend in among the sheep, I always make sure my suit jacket’s a Joel™,” Benny Hinn says on a new TV spot advertising the formal men’s wear. “You’re gonna like the way you look while you fleece the masses out of their hard-earned cash—I guarantee it.”
The suits went on sale at Lakewood Church’s website this Sunday, starting around $20,000 each.

[h=1]Sad: Joel Osteen Keeps Group-Texting A Bunch Of Real Pastors But He Is Getting ROASTED[/h]

dis-696x394.png

Uh-oh!

Looks like Joel Osteen tried to text some encouragement to some actual pastors, and he is getting STRAIGHT. ROASTED.
Osteen sent a group of non-apostate pastors a group text, trying to get them to name and claim success in their lives, but he wasn’t getting an answer.
You won’t BELIEVE what John MacArthur said next!
Osteen: guys
Osteen: fellas you there?
Osteen: i know you’re reading my messages
[4 days later]
Osteen: Hey guys, praying for your ministries! Let’s name and claim success today!
Kevin DeYoung: who dis
John MacArthur: lose this number fam
David Platt:

Osteen: I DON’T NEED YOUR NEGATIVITY IN MY LIFE ANYWAY
Osteen: Sorry guys, didn’t mean it
Osteen: guys?
Sad! Sorry, Osteen, maybe next time!

I admit, I have learned something from Joanie.

I have learned one can post fast and hard if you copy and paste everything.

To think I stupidly thought I had to post the Bible to support my beliefs, when I could have just copied and pasted everything from questionable sources! LOL

No offense, but you're incredibly ignorant. Joel Osteen hasn't taken a salary in over ten years. He made his millions as an author, and has never made any pull for offerings. He was a middle class guy who was content in running the video production of his father's ministry for many years until his dad passed away and he took over the church. As for being a Universalist, that's nonsense. He believes that there's only one way to heaven, and that's through Jesus. He messed up in the Larry King interview when he was new to the whole PR game, and he issued an apology to his supporters. https://albertmohler.com/2005/06/25/joel-osteen-issues-apology/ If you want to disagree with the guy that's fine, but let's not engage in the un-Christian and un-Christlike practice of spreading lies, okay?

Yep.

maybe they were wrong. And Joel Olsteen was always a false teacher universalist money grubbing person who robbed cheated and stole peoples money to make himself rich.

Or maybe, like th people said,. He did have it ok at one time, and he lost it.

What happened in the past does nto matter, what he does today is just plain evil.

Joel Osteen Issues Apology

June 25, 2005

Joel Osteen has issued an apology for his disappointing June 20 appearance on CNN’s Larry King Live program. The apology is published on the Joel Osteen Ministries Web site.
“It was never my desire or intention to leave any doubt as to what I believe and Whom I serve,” he stated. “I believe with all my heart that it is only through Christ that we have hope in eternal life. I regret and sincerely apologize that I was unclear on the very thing in which I have dedicated my life.”
Further: “I believe that Jesus Christ alone is the only way to salvation. However, it wasn’t until I had the opportunity to review the transcript of the interview that I realize I had not clearly stated that having a personal relationship with Jesus is the only way to heaven. It’s about the individual’s choice to follow Him.”
The statement reflected both humility and candor. “God has given me a platform to present the Gospel to a very diverse audience. In my desire not to alienate the people that Jesus came to save, I did not clearly communicate the convictions that I hold so precious,” he acknowledged. He also described the interview and its aftermath as “a learning experience” and expresssed his confidence that “God will ultimately use it for my good and His glory.”
Mr. Osteen’s statement is encouraging on several fronts. First, it is encouraging to know that the constituency of Joel Osteen Ministries was so upset about the interview. Second, Mr. Osteen’s statement includes a clear and unambiguous affirmation of the exclusivity of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Third, the timeliness of the statement underlines the importance of the issues at stake. Fourth, Mr. Osteen’s apology is free from the evasions typical of the pseudo-apologies so often issued to the public. He did not say that “statements were made,” but instead acknowledged that he had failed to communicate Gospel truth. The humility and honesty of the statement serve to fortify its authenticity.
This is a reminder to all of us who appear in the media. Statements made to an audience of millions are difficult to retract and are often impossible to correct. When Mr. Osteen writes, “I hope that you accept my deepest apology and see it in your heart to extend to me grace and forgiveness,” the only proper response is to extend the very forgiveness for which he asks — and with equal humility. Other concerns can wait for another day.

Actions speak louder than words. You drop not just make mistakes. Our of the mouth the abundance of the heart speaks. You may see it as an apology, I see it as he was caught and had to save face. You want to believe that stuff Go right ahead. I will believe what I see.

A man of God would have opened his house to people in need, and given of the abundance of his wealth to people in need. When hurricane Harvey devastating Houston, Olsteen not only did not open his house, He did not open his church, or share of the abundance of his wealth to help those in need UNTIL people came down on him, and he was pretty much forced AGAIN to apologize, and offer whatever he offered.

Seems to be a pattern there. Patterns of behavior speak volumes

I would not judge his salvation. I do not know if he recieved ther lord or not.. I can just judge what I see and know if he is following the lord at the current time or not.

The pattern is that his haters are always hating on the guy. Lakewood was in no condition to take in storm victims until the water receded enough for their staff members to get there. If you know anything about Lakewood (which I highly doubt based on the ignorance you've shown so far) you know that they have a reputation for helping out in times of disaster, going back forty years when they became a megachurch. They took in victims of Tropical Storm Allison in 2001, and Joel took the lead in relocating victims of Katrina even though it didn't hit his city. Houston got three feet of rain in three days, and the main road leading to Lakewood (HWY 59) was under water for a couple of days.

How stupid do you have to be to think that Lakewood was unaffected and Joel was just being a jerk in not taking in storm victims? As soon as it was safe to open the church, they did what the city requested and functioned as a distribution center. Why don't you try objectivity and critical thinking instead of just parroting the ignorant hate rap that your ilk have been spouting?

I've seen this sort of mis representation of the truth so many places on this planet especially since the internet that it's wise to never believe main stream media about much of anything. And most especially when it reports on us Christians. If they hated Jesus and told lies about Him., shouldn't we expect it will be done to us especially since we have been told so in the Bible. Matt.5:10-12

[SUP]10 [/SUP]Blessed and happy and [SUP][a][/SUP]enviably fortunate and [SUP][b][/SUP]spiritually prosperous [SUP][c][/SUP](in the state in which the born-again child of God enjoys and finds satisfaction in God’s favor and salvation, regardless of his outward conditions) are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake (for being and doing right), for theirs is the kingdom of heaven!
[SUP]
11 [/SUP]Blessed (happy, [SUP][d][/SUP]to be envied, and [SUP][e][/SUP]spiritually prosperous—[SUP][f][/SUP]with life-joy and satisfaction in God’s favor and salvation, regardless of your outward conditions) are you when people revile you and persecute you and say all kinds of evil things against you falsely on My account.
[SUP]
12 [/SUP]Be glad and supremely joyful, for your reward in heaven is great (strong and intense), for in this same way people persecuted the prophets who were before you.

John 15:20
[SUP]20 [/SUP]Remember that I told you, A servant is not greater than his master [is not superior to him]. If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they kept My word and obeyed My teachings, they will also keep and obey yours.

Gossip is something the world does because it can't help it. Unsaved people have no choice but to say and believe what is fed to them. But we who have Jesus are called to something higher than that.
