what does it mean to have a real heart for God ? any thoughts ?

I have been thinking about this : and I would like to have some feed back on this ..its really been on my heart for the past few days so. I was thinking it goes along this lines.... so please feel free to reply ..God Bless

I believe that it means you are willing to leave your life behind. Willing to leave addiction, family, friends, freedom, even this world (through death) so you can do God's will. I believe that it means not only making God more important than anything, but everything.

I haven’t heard that expression before, but Jesus did tell us that the great commandment was that we should love the Lord with all our hearts, minds, and souls.

How do you do that? Paul tells us we should pray constantly. (You don’t have to stop what you are doing to pray.)

Genesis tells us that Noah “walked with the Lord.”

Some people seem to resist that idea that we should have a personal relationship with the Lord, yet I think it is easily the most important thing of all.

You want his will to be in you. We are all to surrendar our lives over to God. Let him mold us to be how he wants us to be and to do his will.

King David had a heart after God. When he screwed up he confessed and quit doing what was evil. He waited upon God for direction. When God said go, he went.

Matt. 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Having a heart for God includes giving our treasure to Him- whatever that means to you- money, possessions, relationships. He should be more important to us than those things themselves.

I agree with Giantone. The scriptures say the David had this heart. I don't know about anyone else, but I see so much of myself in David sometimes, particularly in his failures. It's comforting to know that while I desire God's will and direction for my life, and to please Him because of my love for Him, I so often fall short. But it's okay. He looks on the HEART and knows this is my desire, and He has it all under control. I feel sometimes that I'm letting Him down, but I guess that's not possible when He's holding ME up, not the other way around.

It means "Giving thanks" Even if what you think is a disaster in your life you should give thanks knowing fully that that is His will for you because you are trusting in Him to bring you successfully to eternal life and glory. You are God's workmanship. He will not fail. Give thanks,always.
