Good morning :coffee:fellow Sojourners. Wanted to share with you some Bible verses and thoughts as well as some wonderful music to read and pray by. The artist's name is DappyTKeys:)

Being here on CC again after a number of years encourages me on to share what I'm reading in the morning. That is how it's always been., wanting to share and hear from other believers what we're discovering in His Word for that day. (already sent it out to friends via our phone txts looking fwd to hearing back from them & vs/vs)

Today the devotional is about being mindful of Christ's obedience 2 Cor.10:5
[Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One),

The writer talked about his bondage to bad thoughts he had. He thought he had to confess each and everyone of them for God's forgiveness. He ended up thinking all the more of his bad thoughts and the condemnation he felt over them. But that's not what God's Word exhorts us to do. (Instead God wants us to bring "every thought into captivity to the 'obedience of Christ." Whose obedience do we focus on? Christ's obedience and not our own obedience.)

Romans 5:19 19 For just as by one man’s disobedience (failing to hear, [a]heedlessness, and carelessness) the many were constituted sinners, so by one Man’s obedience the many will be constituted righteous (made acceptable to God, brought into right standing with Him).

So when our thoughts condemn us we are to focus our thoughts on Jesus obedience at the cross.

The enemy makes inroads into our minds when he gets us to focus on OUR obedience instead of Christ's obedience. The strategy is to point us to our obedience or the lack of it to determine our standing before God.

I'm reminded & encouraged by other believers who point to the Bible that our righteousness is not based on what we do but because of what Christ the last Adam did on the cross.., and who we now are IN Christ.

Our righteousness and standing has nothing to do with our obedience but everything to do with Jesus obedience that makes believers righteous. We always have access to the Father because of what Jesus did. This truth in our identity solidifies our place and then for me it solidifies my mind to know I'm the righteousness of God IN CHRIST.

2 Cor.5:21 For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in and through Him we might become [[a]endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness].
