2 Esdras isn't Scripture; it's Apocrypha, which is pseudo (fake) Scripture. Best to confine our reading to the actual, rather than to the counterfeit.

Its okay. 1st and 2nd Esdras is in the Greek Manuscripts, and was found in Hebrew in the Dead Sea scrolls now. The only reason that it was not kept, in the English versions likely because; they were not found in the Hebrew as well as the Greek.
Now that copies were found in the Dead Sea scrolls, ( many years ago now ), I would consider looking at them, they would make a good read.

There is a song in those Apocrypha of the old testament,"The Song of The Three Children" , of what perhaps Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah sang, while in the fiery furnace...

There are some translations of words, here and there that can be found I do not agree with scattered throughout the Apocrypha and that can be taken the wrong way by people that are not familiar enough with God's word, it can confuse some, but. That aside I recommend it and that its okay to read.

These i think are all of them of the ones I'm talking about that are okay

1 Esdras
2 Esdras
Tobit
Judith
The Rest of Esther
Wisdom of Solomon
Ecclesiasticus
Baruch
The Song of The Three Children
The Story of Suzanna
Bel and The Dragon
The Prayer of Manasseh
1 Maccabees
2 Maccabees

They were actually in the very first King James Version Bible in 1611.

Here is a copy, good luck trying to read it. ( if you have a add blocker it wont display the pages ) -->

As far as the contents of the scripture you posted, and how it can relate to the Bible from what I can remember anyway-

2 Esdras 2:42-48

Ezra Sees the Son of God

42 I, Ezra, saw on Mount Zion a great multitude that I could not number, and they all were praising the Lord with songs. 43In their midst was a young man of great stature, taller than any of the others, and on the head of each of them he placed a crown, but he was more exalted than they. And I was held spellbound.

Zechariah 14:4-9

44Then I asked an angel, ‘Who are these, my lord?’

45He answered and said to me, ‘These are they who have put off mortal clothing and have put on the immortal, and have confessed the name of God. Now they are being crowned, and receive palms.’

I Corinthians 15: 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

( Mortal is a soul liable to die at the Judgment day. And Immortality is the soul has overcome.

54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

If your really not grounded in the Bible, then I think a Christian needs to start there first, before trying to read other materials and possibly getting confused when they see something they are not familiar with yet. Like I said even some words people tend to make whole religions out of, just one verse. ..So thats why i say, be sure of what the Bible teaches first.

But I like the Apocrypha of the Old testament, and i think its a good read, for me anyway.

These writings were included in the original KJV. I love the excerpt from Esdras. It describes a known event in the Word. I wonder if with the crowns judgment will be received. It seem so, but no matter, judgment will be given to the saints on His day, amen.

To each his own.................[SUP]46[/SUP]Then I said to the angel, ‘Who is that young man who is placing crowns on them and putting palms in their hands?’ [SUP]47[/SUP]He answered and said to me, ‘He is the Son of God, whom they confessed in the world.’ So I began to praise those who had stood valiantly for the name of the Lord.[SUP]*[/SUP] [SUP]48[/SUP]Then the angel said to me, ‘Go, tell my people how great and how many are the wonders of the Lord God that you have seen.’........... see either this was written "before" Jesus died, rose, and ascended to the Throne, OR it fails to recognize that Jesus IS GOD..........as well, Jesus humbled Himself, made Himself a little less than the angles, and was not an attractive man in His physical form, for He wanted people to come to Him because they believed in Him because of what He said and did, NOT because of His physical appearance...........another point is why were they "praising" those who had stood valiantly? Did Jesus say for us to worship (praise) the Creator, not the created?

Anyway, if people enjoy reading these writings that is fine with me, and it is their right to read them...........
