3 Big Reasons to Thank God!

Colossians 2 is one of the big hotspots in the Bible. Here we learn that there are three big reasons to thank our God:

  1. [*=1]Because He has forgiven us of all our sins.
[*=1]Because He freed us from dead religion.
[*=1]Because He has made us alive and united together with Christ.
I hope you enjoy this video message and that is encourages you to thank God in three very big ways!

In Him,

I just don't understand why we need these certain teachers to tell us that.
Those points seem so obvious in Scripture.
Read Romans ch 1-8 and Gal ch. 1-5.

These points seem obvious? If it were so, we wouldn't have all these threads debating the Gospel of Grace. Most people do not understand the total forgiveness they have in Jesus, hence why they continue to confess sins in order to receive forgiveness. They are asking for something that is already in their possession.

In regards to dead religion look no further than Legalism, in all of its subtle ways, and even again sin confession trying to "restore fellowship" with God as if Christ's sacrifice on the cross dealing with sin was insufficient. Religion always working its way to God, or some paradise, but Jesus Christ is the sole reason that we may enter God's presence, unhindered (and confident). Reconciliation has been made, restoration complete (in terms of fellowship).

On to the third point, people seem to battle sin with practicality and principles of denial, using their flesh to fight their flesh. The repentance, ever held so dear, is at times empty and just an unkept promise. Victory over sin is relegated to condemnation, stop or else. As if fear and not love is the motivator. The way preachers, in time past, have beaten believer's up with the law ("thou shall not") has shown its fruit, has it not? People still sinning, and people still confessing the same sins they've been confessing for the longest time, and there is no end in sight. Yet the solution is found in identity, being dead to sin and risen unto newness of life. It is an identity crisis, not a self-control issue (in part).

You are right, these truths are in scripture, and these truths need to be meditated on so as to renew our minds. In this way, our conduct is transformed and sanctified. The old nature is dead, but you are alive unto God. Too many people because they do not fully grasp the reality of such verses, are stuck in a religious mire trying to obtain things already granted through Jesus. This is why the Gospel of Grace is direly needed, because it emphasizes the victory we have over sin through Jesus Christ and being born-again.

No, the unending threads are because of the constant posting of videos and copy/pastes from these false teachers who must be opposed. Any teacher like Farley is false who denies that all of Jesus teachings to the apostles are for all believers in the new covenant. Especially something as crucial as the Lord's Prayer.

You apparently have deceived yourself to think that Christ will let you stand in his presence with your attitude that any sin you might commit doesn't need to be acknowledged. Though he paid for all sins to satisfy GOD the father's righteousness and holiness, he himself says "I hold against you"...

The Lord has sent us gifts to the body of Christ so that we would grow up in Him. Teachers are one of them. Some teachers are anointed to teach on certain areas of truth. If we reject teachers teaching us we are cutting ourselves off from what the Lord has for us.

The Holy Spirit uses teachers to help with us to learn the things of Jesus. He is the One inside us that witnesses to the truth. The very question as to why we need teachers is basic unless we know everything now. So, unless people have arrived as outlined in verse 13 below - we will always need teachers.

Ephesians 4:11-13 (NASB)
[SUP]11 [/SUP] And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers,
[SUP]12 [/SUP] for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ;
[SUP]13 [/SUP] until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.

Acts 13:1 (NASB)
[SUP]1 [/SUP] Now there were at Antioch, in the church that was there, prophets and teachers: Barnabas, and Simeon who was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

The fact that this even has to be said is a little disturbing...* .there's something wrong in Denmark..*

I just listened to him........he perfectly describes the "so-called christian religion" extremely well.. it is definitely opposite of knowing Christ Himself and what He has done for us....thanks for sharing...

Dear Crossnote : What is obvious to some is not obvious to others. There are mature Christians and baby Christians. Some on milk some on meat. There are some who have left the faith and are coming back. There are Christians that sometimes in this busy, chaotic, sinful world need a reminder. I read the bible daily and have read it front to back 30 times at least, and every time something new is revealed or when I get discouraged or have doubts what I know is refreshed in my spirit. The word is LIVING not just a book of knowledge. I never get tired of hearing and singing that Jesus died for us, I am free from dead religion, he has made us alive and united together with and in Christ and so on. If the message you feel is not for you then remember there is someone out there who desperately needs to here it or be reminded about it. As the message is preached even if you think it is old, spend the time praying for it to reach another heart, to touch it and turn them to YESHUA. It's ALL ABOUT JESUS.

I didn't realize a child by confessing his disobedience to his father wasn't asking for forgiveness...even though he forever is a son.

No, what complicates the pure water of Scripture is the muddy teaching of false teachers.

So reason#4 to be thankful--for true teachers of His Word.

Surely it's all about Jesus. And if Scripture is insufficient or too difficult to understand where a child should not err then good teachers should be prayed about to be sought out.
The reality is that there are false teachers out there and what if not Scripture is going to be your defense?

Read Romans ch 1-8 and Gal ch. 1-5.

And yet so many deny what is obvious. Hence the need for 'certain' teachers to teach them what should be 'obvious' truth.

Romans 1:11-13

11 I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong— 12 that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith. 13 I do not want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, that I planned many times to come to you (but have been prevented from doing so until now) in order that I might have a harvest among you, just as I have had among the other Gentiles.

1 Thessalonians 5:11-24
11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

12 Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord and who admonish you. 13 Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other. 14 And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone. 15 Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else.

16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually,18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

19 Do not quench the Spirit. 20 Do not treat prophecies with contempt 21 but test them all; hold on to what is good, 22 reject every kind of evil.

23 May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.

Any teacher who is building up, encouraging, and exhorting the Body about who they are in Christ while also preaching the Gospel is doing exactly what they need to be doing.

One more:

Ephesians 4:11-16

11 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, 14 so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.

15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, 16 from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

All true...yet...there are false teachers...

Acts 20:28-32 KJV
[28] Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. [29] For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. [30] Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. [31] Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears. [32] And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.

Scripture lacks nothing. There are teachers who put their own spin on things. Scripture tells us this will happen in the end times. People will seek and hear and follow what pleases their ears. Pray for true teachers. But most important pray for the Holy Spirit to guide and teach and fill you, for it is the Holy Spirit who reveals, convinces, teaches, woos us. New and older Christians alike need to drown themselves in scripture. If you hear a sermon check the scripture yourself. But do not take things out of context. That is how false teachers are so successful because they are followed by blind sheep. The blind leading the blind. They have been there from the days of Jesus. And he had a few choice words for them:). The scripture itself says to search it and study it. Study does not just mean read something, it means did deep. God knows ones heart and a sincere request for knowledge and wisdom that is HIS will not go unanswered. It is a war out there. Not of the flesh but the spiritual realm. HE knows who is His and who is not and who will be. Relax people YAHWEH has got it. Those who are false teachers He knows. They have their judgement coming. Let us love and plant good seed and remember, one plants the other waters God causes it to grow. If there are weeds God will sort it out and burn it. Oh how I love HIM!!!

No doubt - that's why we must test everything.

We must also be willing to set aside our denominational or ideological or theological lenses and simply read what is in the Scriptures. Farley, in particular, is really good at doing that and exhorting others to do the same. The name of his church? "Church Without Religion."

And Andrew Farley doesn't claim some unique insight to the Scriptures - he came out of many of the things we see discussed here at CC. He's a linguist (professor of Applied Linguistics at Texas Tech and former professor of linguistics at the Roman Catholic University of Notre Dame) in Biblical languages, so he comes to the Scriptures looking at the original languages and context. He comes from a conservative Christian/Evangelical background. Before you label him a false teacher, you should know what he teaches. Just sayin'. I will warn you ahead of time, he will challenge your Calvinist leanings ;). That doesn't make him a heretic, though, right?

Anyone who takes away from the things that Jesus taught to his apostles in order to make their own doctrine sound plausible is doing the work of satan.

I don't think the cross has sides. I live in the cross, under the blood, kneeling at the base. Then I stand before the tomb and lift my hands as I weep, tears of joy to my resurrected Lord. Then I stand on the Mount of Olives and wait with expectancy for His glorious return. The world either lives here or wherever. Wherever is outside of the shadow of the cross. Regardless of your religion or absence of. There are two categories -- saved or unsaved. 10171032_10152004182056356_5068766329581976796_n.jpg

And yet so many deny what is obvious. Hence the need for 'certain' teachers to teach them what should be 'obvious' truth.

***********************

Just so!

When we are saved...or born again....we have a similar spiritual journey comparable to a baby's physical growth

These forums alone are the perfect illustration as to why we need continued ops that address the wrong nature of certain teachers whose main aim, it seems, is to judge folks and put us all back under condemnation

So proclaim the truth with freedom and rejoicing

It never gets old!!!
