They are intended to be one and the same.

"Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me."

We are saved by the Spirit of life in Jesus Christ. In other words we must abide in Christ.

Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

Joh 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
Joh 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Yet in order to abide in Christ we have to deny ourselves, pick up our cross and follow Jesus.

We have to lay aside ALL known sin in order to receive with meekness the implanted word which saves our souls.

We have to strive to enter in at the strait gate and endure steadfast to the end the narrow way which leads to life.

God leads and we follow via an active obedient faith.

It is a very simple message. The simplicity in Christ which is the doctrine according to godliness.

Ephesians 2

2 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. 3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh[a] and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. 4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. 6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Just as those under the Law had a choice to obey or not to obey, and by such, either receive salvation from the death decree of the Law or a verdict of condemnation, we too, have not lost that choice to obey or not obey. So, Jesus is the One who saves us from death and is our Shepherd, we are to follow Him to God's rest or we run the risk of becoming a lost sheep. We do not save ourselves, but by obedience to our LORD (MASTER) we maintain our salvation in His flock.

Still didn't save himself, no matter what he "did", he could not have done these things without first having Yeshua's example, and choosing to follow it. Therefore, Yeshua saved Him.

All those things are commandments of Jesus. He doesn't save you so you can do those things later on. If that was the case then all those things would be OPTIONAL.

Let's say you are starving and dying of thirst in the desert. A man approaches and gives you food and water and tells you to eat.

Are you saved before you eat the food and drink the water or is it through putting to use what the man gave you that salvation is found?

That is why Jesus commanded us to be DOERS of the word. It is through doing that God's grace is made effectual. Obedience to the truth purifies the soul. If there is no obedience there is no purity.

Such a simple thing is so perverted today.

'Such a simple thing is so perverted today.'

Same old 'earn' your way into heaven.
By stressing works you put the onus on the follower.
Thus straining at the gnat of perfection you swallow
the camel of self-righteousness.

You will never be good enough. The only thing you attain
with that theology is self delusional 'rightness'.
While overlooking an innumerable host of sins you
didn't know you were guilty of.

The DOING is the belief.
The BELIEF is by Grace.
The GRACE is a gift from God.

The only works God is interested in are those wrought by
His Holy Spirit - - - - (through you).
- - - After all, the believer is the vessel; the spirit is
what fills it.
It is God's responsibility to fill the vessel.
And He will. ('For a broken and contrite heart Oh Lord
you will not despise').
Humility is the key, and recognition of what Jesus did.

The bible tells us that we are SAVED because of God's grace NOT because of our works. However, when we have sin against God ( perform those things which God forbid) we confess our sin to God and God promised that He will forgive our sins. However, this should NOT be used as an excuse to keep sinning. We should remember that no doubt God is merciful BUT GOD IS RIGHTEOUS AS WELL.

You are a classic example, of which I spoke, one who holds to a perverted view. Tell someone in the church system that they must yield obediently to God and they cry "works" and accuse one of being self righteous.

I bet if Paul or Peter were to enter a church building today they would be kicked out for being self righteous and teaching a works.

Obeying God is not earning your way into heaven, it is simply doing what He told you to do. Keep my commandments, strive to enter that narrow way, pick up your cross, deny yourself, count the cost, go and sin no more, etc. Were these mere suggestions by the master? No, those commandments were the way to life. Just as the starving man in my example, those who refuse to DO will not enter the kingdom.

We receive grace for obedience.

It is through obedience that grace is not received in vain.

If there is no doing then no heart purity results and no salvation.

A great example of a most common straw man. These deceived people build up such a high standard that no-one can keep and then say , "see, you cannot do anything," then use it to teach their DO NOTHING Gospel.

What did Paul write?

Rom 6:17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.

Obeyed from the heart. That is all God is looking for, a people who will obey God from the heart, obey Him by a faith that works by love. That is what matters, not never making a mistake.

Gal 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
Gal 5:2 Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.
Gal 5:3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.
Gal 5:4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
Gal 5:5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
Gal 5:6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

Repentance and conversion are absolutely mandatory requirements that must be fulfilled before God will raise someone up to newness of life.

Act 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;

Have you ever seen this verse?

2Co 6:1 We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.

What happens if you are not a worker together with Him?

Skinski,
But it is by His Holy Spirit that we are able to overcome.
That is my point.
You continually stress the words of the apostle written for edification as
requirements for salvation.
These are works of sanctification - (as all believer's works in Christ are);
NOT salvation.

Again, you make the keeping of the law a requirement,
thus making null and void the blood of Christ.

Here is the purpose of the commandment, it is the outcome. HEART PURITY!

1Ti 1:5 Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:

Jesus gave Himself for us because...

Tit 2:14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

PURIFY Himself a people who are redeemed from ALL iniquity. A worker of iniquity is the opposite of someone who has been purified and has a good conscience with faith unfeigned.

A very simple message indeed. :)

Yet another example of the cart before the horse. You ought to stop listening to false teachers. The scriptures testify against your words.

Here is what James wrote...

Jas 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
Jas 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

The engrafted word is what is able to save the soul. In order that the engrafted word save the soul one must RECEIVE it. Receiving is the OPPOSITE of REJECTING. That is why one MUST lay aside all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness. To continue in rebellion is REJECTION of the engrafted word and no heart purity will ever result.

See how simple the message is. Very simple.

You are the one putting the cart(works done to save oneself, by oneself); before the horse(Jesus' perfect life and
obedient death).

It IS simple; You say - 'In order that the engrafted word save the soul one must RECEIVE it.'
You say receiving the word is a work of yourself.
I say the ability to have a heart able to receive the word is a gift from God.
Lest any man should boast.

It indeed is very simple for those with eyes to see and ears to hear.
