Wait...wait...I figured it out.

We call the earth Mother Earth. This implies the Earth is female. We all know it is impolite to ask a woman her age...some things are best left unsaid, including the age of the Earth.

:D

a radioactive dating machine created by man if you put faulty input into a computer program, guess what the program is faulty. man has input formulas into equations and the information is guess work so this is how we have man's test going against the Word of God My Guess is what the Bibles says somewhere alittle older than 6000 years old

Of course 6000 year view may be in error if someone can't do the math.

It may seem nieve but its not something I worry about. All that man does is just theory, all that God tells us is perfect. Ill leave the age to Our Lord God. It doesnt really matter to me. Knowing what Our Lord God asks of us does matter. God bless, pickles

The apparent age theory states that God made everything already grown and mature. AS IF everything had been around for billions of years. That the chicken came before the egg! He made Adam and Eve already adult. We have no reason to doubt God's word like the serpent did in the garden. If God said seven days, why should we question Him? He never lied to us before. Furthermore, when the astronauts touched down on the moon for the first time, they were amazed at the tiny accumulation of space dust. They were briefed by scientists speculating that due to billions and billions of years of build up of space dust collecting on the moon, to be ready for an ocean of light fluffy powder. When Neil Armstrong set foot on the surface, he made an imprint track with his boot less than a half an inch thick! We live in a YOUNG universe after all!

The reason why I posted this thread is this:
I was taught from my church that the earth was approx. 6000 years old which they backed up with testimonies from various scientists and the Word of God mainly Genesis. All the information seems sound, especially convincing to me is Genesis. So I have been a fim believer that the earth is in fact approx. 6000 years old.
Now I'm absolutely fascinated with all things to do with space and the universe, watch TV programs that show visuals of our solar system and outer galaxies etc with utmost awe for what a Great God we have. To me when I see and hear from scientists how things of the universe are formed and how they develop, it makes the scripture in Psalms 46:10 ("Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!") so clear!...oh most High God, how Great thou art!!
In the last few years I have been struggling with the question: Is the earth really 6000 years old?, because at first I discarded any secular scientific proof as being nonsense. But more and more very convincing hard evidence and facts are being proved and found all the time, most of which just cannot be refuted.
So I know the Word does not lie as God cannot lie and besides He will not lie, He said He will pore out His Spirit upon ALL flesh in the last days and we are in the last days which I'm sure you all agree, history shows us how knowledge has exponentially increased within the last century of which my personal belief is because of the Lords Will.
So I am sure that we are missing something, and when I heard a Preacher that I believe has the anointing of The Spirit mention that he believes the earth is 13 million/billion(didn't hear which) years old I was surprised but felt relieved in a sense because I am starting to believe that maybe Genesis days where not days as we know it now. In all honesty to me it does not matter if creation was in 6 days (as we know it) or 60 zillion years, as I see and learn more of how our world and the heavenly bodies are formed it cements the fact that we serve an awesome God because like someone said in a previous post that it is not important how the earth and universe was made but the fact that it was created by God is what is important. But I do believe God in His Wisdom reveals all to us.
That is BASICALLY why I posted this question because I am curious to see what other views/beliefs are.

Graybeard do not loose you faith in God's word. The earth is almost 6,000 years old, and the 6 days of creation were 6 literal days. This is very important to understand and believe (especially the 6 days of Creation) because if the earth was not created in 6 literal days as Genesis 1 says it was then why should any of us believe anything else scripture teaches. If the very first chapter is wrong then we should just throw the rest of it out as well. Why do you think Satan tries so hard to discredit Genesis chapter 1?

Do not get me wrong please, Like I said..I believe emphatically wholeheartedly completely never swaying that the Word of God is truth...as it is written: 2Ti 3:16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.
what I'm trying to say is that on one side you have a truth, that is the Word, and on the other side you have a truth as well, BUT and here is the thing...they both at face value appear to contradict each other, like when the theory of "The Big Bang" came out all Christians where outraged and at the time rightly so. But as technology and knowledge advances and more and more proof/evidence/facts are discovered, I can well believe that is how God created the universe, maybe the days thing is really as it is today and scientist have got that wrong as some time spans they thought where long new findings have proven them wrong but I think the intricacies of the formation of how things where actually created are true. I believe God Almighty is the architect of the universe, His divine design is mathmatically calculated and not done on mere chance, He created the laws that govern the whole universe and He has made the whole universe to submit to those laws so what is being discovered today CONFIRMS the Word of God more than ever!
I do not believe that when God said "Let there be light" for example, that suddenly poof it just appeared! I believe that when he spoke the words that his Word started a chain reaction of events that ended in the result He spoke of!....come to think of it, that was probably the first demonstration/act of faith revealed to us as He called the things that where not as though they where.

I didn't say you didn't believe, I simply encouaged you to continue to believe. You also stated it didn;t matter if the 6 days of creation were 6 literal day or 60 zllion years, and I stated the fact that it does matter. If the earth was not created in 6 literal days the Genesis is false and therefore all of scripture is to be distrusted.

There are verses in the Bible that sometimes appear to be unexplainable and/or contradictory, those verses to me cannot be contradictory at all as God does not lie, I believe that with all my heart so I usually file those as just not understood.
For me it does not matter because I do not doubt whats written, and I do not preach "look!..contradictions!"
so because I do not understand it does not mean that the rest of the Bible becomes false. I know soon all things will be clear it's just that when I see and understand how things so powerful are created my whole being rejoices and worships God, to witness His creation obeying His word, to see how irrelevant we are in comparison to the vastness of His creation, to realize our futile little worries and lack of faith for surely He has a purpose for all that He is making.
