Do you have any go to psalms for specific circumstances? If so, which ones and for which circumstances?

128 Therefore I esteem all thy precepts concerning all things to be right; and I hate every false way. - Psalm 119:128 (KJV)

This is one of my new go to verses in the Psalms. It is a good verse of Scripture that shows that the Bible is always right. So no matter what circumstance one is facing. The Holy Bible has the solution. And it is right concerning all things.

[h=3]Psalm 1[/h][SUP]1 [/SUP]Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
[SUP]2 [/SUP]but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.

The Lord gave me this one this last Saturday. I love it.

Psalm 71:1-24 (KJV)

[SUP]1 [/SUP]In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion. [SUP]2 [/SUP]Deliver me in thy righteousness, and cause me to escape: incline thine ear unto me, and save me. [SUP]3 [/SUP]Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress. [SUP]4 [/SUP]Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man. [SUP]5 [/SUP]For thou art my hope, O Lord GOD: thou art my trust from my youth. [SUP]6 [/SUP]By thee have I been holden up from the womb: thou art he that took me out of my mother's bowels: my praise shall be continually of thee. [SUP]7 [/SUP]I am as a wonder unto many; but thou art my strong refuge. [SUP]8 [/SUP]Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day. [SUP]9 [/SUP]Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength faileth. [SUP]10 [/SUP]For mine enemies speak against me; and they that lay wait for my soul take counsel together, [SUP]11 [/SUP]Saying, God hath forsaken him: persecute and take him; for there is none to deliver him. [SUP]12 [/SUP]O God, be not far from me: O my God, make haste for my help. [SUP]13 [/SUP]Let them be confounded and consumed that are adversaries to my soul; let them be covered with reproach and dishonour that seek my hurt. [SUP]14 [/SUP]But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more. [SUP]15 [/SUP]My mouth shall shew forth thy righteousness and thy salvation all the day; for I know not the numbers thereof. [SUP]16 [/SUP]I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only. [SUP]17 [/SUP]O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works. [SUP]18 [/SUP]Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come. [SUP]19 [/SUP]Thy righteousness also, O God, is very high, who hast done great things: O God, who is like unto thee! [SUP]20 [/SUP]Thou, which hast shewed me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken me again, and shalt bring me up again from the depths of the earth. [SUP]21 [/SUP]Thou shalt increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side. [SUP]22 [/SUP]I will also praise thee with the psaltery, even thy truth, O my God: unto thee will I sing with the harp, O thou Holy One of Israel. [SUP]23 [/SUP]My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing unto thee; and my soul, which thou hast redeemed. [SUP]24 [/SUP]My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long: for they are confounded, for they are brought unto shame, that seek my hurt.

Psalm 50

16
But to the wicked person, God says:

“What right have you to recite my laws
or take my covenant on your lips?
17 You hate my instruction
and cast my words behind you.
18 When you see a thief, you join with him;
you throw in your lot with adulterers.
19 You use your mouth for evil
and harness your tongue to deceit.
20 You sit and testify against your brother
and slander your own mother’s son.
21 When you did these things and I kept silent,
you thought I was exactly like you.

[SUP]22 [/SUP]Even an heritage unto Israel his servant: for his mercy endureth for ever.
[SUP]23 [/SUP]Who remembered us in our low estate: for his mercy endureth for ever:
[SUP]24 [/SUP]And hath redeemed us from our enemies: for his mercy endureth for ever.
[SUP]25 [/SUP]Who giveth food to all flesh: for his mercy endureth for ever.
[SUP]26 [/SUP]O give thanks unto the God of heaven: for his mercy endureth for ever.

Psalm 91 has helped me through a lot of sleepless nights. Been plagued by nightmares for most of my childhood and much of my adulthood and the fact that they are lucid makes it difficult to deal with sometimes. Starts to be a heavy weight after a while and nothing I really could ever get used to for some reason. This psalm always helps.

91 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
[SUP]2 [/SUP]I will say[SUP][a][/SUP] to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”

1 Still I did not go to Psalms, Psalms came to me TWICE in my life, and BOTH times had major effect on my life.

The first time was when God stepped in to save me from false doctrine and false teachers and churches. I was in my be with a laptop on my lap. I was doing what God told me to do, and that as to READ the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. I was stating to read Psalm 119, when God touched my heart. I suddenly had the urge to type a letter to God. So I started typing after I read the first verse.....

I typed whatever came up in my soul and spirit. I laid my heart before God and just typed.... it was around 11 PM and my wife was fast asleep net to me. when I finished I looked at the clock and it was close to 1 AM. I almost typed for two hours. Then I continued to read the Psalm. I was SHOCKED... I typed that whole Psalm. I NEVER read, or heard that Psalm in my life. I did not type ALEPH, BETH, GIMEL etc. but I laid that Psalm out as David did. When God speaks to our spirits, HE ALWAYS SPEAKS THE SAME TRUTH.... It was the first real miricle in TRUTH that I experienced....

The second time God gave me a Psalm it as not such a long one, but that Psalm had much more physical change in my life.... God decided I had to get out of the PROFESSIONAL job that I had with a big steel company. After I typed that Psalm, something weird started to happen. I loved my job at ISCOR, but the next mornng driving to ISCOR, I hated it. I suddenly felt bad going to work for ISCOR. There God started to show me I had to move from Vanderbjlpark to George. And everyday I drove to my office with my wife (she also worked for Iscor) I am a Mechanical Engineer and she is Industrial Engineer. And everyday I would tell her, mommy, I hate going to Iscor, I wish God will tell us what He wants...

Then things startd to happen quickly.. first was an advertisement about a chemical company for sale in George... one of our Chemical Engeneer friends always wanted to live in George, so we came down to look at this company. Everything looked so blessed and right. It is very similar to Simon Peter having the vision of the cloth and the EAT! God prepared the situation for us. We all knew this company was not even worth the advertisment as we looked at it, but SOMETHING in me said.... It is not in God's will YET. God will change this company to be well sufficient for our income.... I had to ONLY BELIEVE... Like Simon did when he saw the cloth descent from heaven.

Anyway, long story short... I needed God to tell me that this is what He wants and that He wants me there, not me running from ISCOR, but God sending me to GEORGE... Then I asked God.... Lord what do you want, and Lord please confirm my faith that YOU will make it work.... Then this Psalm came to me....
Psalm 1.....
Blessed is the man ..... I already knew I was in God's will by the Psalm 119 I typed, and that HE is busy with me, but I HAVE TO OBEY...AND THEN GOD SAID THIS....Psalm 1:3.....and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper... Then there was NO STOPPING ME. I knew I had to resign from ISCOR and move to george.... So I paid the deposit, and on new years eve I was in my car moving to George.

If I did not move, I would not have been typing this today.... Obey God, and Ye shall be SAVED! Praise the Lord Jesus Christ, that HE STILL SPEAKS TO PEOPLE TO HAVE HIS WILL DONE....

Blessings to all of you, MAY HIS WILL BE DONE IN US. AMEN!

One thing that recently struck me in Psalms is how David pleads for grace and mercy from the Lord.
"Be gracious to me, O Lord!" beautiful words, yeah? :)
(Ps 25, 30, 31, 41, 51, 86, e.g.)

"Go-to" psalms to see the Gospel in them, and to be encouraged that in Christ, I can ask for the same things for the same reasons.
(forgiveness, protection, relief from emotional distress, etc.)

Psalm 19:14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength and my redeemer.

Circumstances pretty self explanatory!

Psalm 37 for me.

37 Fret not yourself because of evildoers;
be not envious of wrongdoers!
2 For they will soon fade like the grass
and wither like the green herb.
3 Trust in the Lord, and do good;
dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness.
4 Delight yourself in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

An ever present, but oft forgotten reminder to fret not, and do good.

There are times when the mistakes of our past are used to try and drag us down. This passage reminds me that because of the Lord's continuing work in me I am no longer the woman I was 20 years ago, 10 years ago, 1 year ago, 1 week ago or 1 minute ago. :)

@----->------------------

[h=3]Psalm 103[/h]
[h=4]Of David.[/h][SUP]1 [/SUP]Praise the Lord, my soul;
all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
[SUP]2 [/SUP]Praise the Lord, my soul,
and forget not all his benefits—
[SUP]3 [/SUP]who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases,
[SUP]4 [/SUP]who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,
[SUP]5 [/SUP]who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

[SUP]6 [/SUP]The Lord works righteousness
and justice for all the oppressed.

[SUP]7 [/SUP]He made known his ways to Moses,
his deeds to the people of Israel:
[SUP]8 [/SUP]The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger, abounding in love.
[SUP]9 [/SUP]He will not always accuse,
nor will he harbor his anger forever;
[SUP]10 [/SUP]he does not treat us as our sins deserve
or repay us according to our iniquities.
[SUP]11 [/SUP]For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his love for those who fear him;
[SUP]12 [/SUP]as far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

[SUP]13 [/SUP]As a father has compassion on his children,
so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him;
[SUP]14 [/SUP]for he knows how we are formed,
he remembers that we are dust.
[SUP]15 [/SUP]The life of mortals is like grass,
they flourish like a flower of the field;
[SUP]16 [/SUP]the wind blows over it and it is gone,
and its place remembers it no more.
[SUP]17 [/SUP]But from everlasting to everlasting
the Lord’s love is with those who fear him,
and his righteousness with their children’s children—
[SUP]18 [/SUP]with those who keep his covenant
and remember to obey his precepts.

[SUP]19 [/SUP]The Lord has established his throne in heaven,
and his kingdom rules over all.

[SUP]20 [/SUP]Praise the Lord, you his angels,
you mighty ones who do his bidding,
who obey his word.
[SUP]21 [/SUP]Praise the Lord, all his heavenly hosts,
you his servants who do his will.
[SUP]22 [/SUP]Praise the Lord, all his works
everywhere in his dominion.

Praise the Lord, my soul.

The Psalm that brought me to surrender to God is Psalm 51. Then, over time, the Lord has granted me to read Psalm 51to others, thus bringing more sinners to His glory. The Lord is faithful. :D

Psalm 51:6-13
6 Behold, Thou desirest truth in the inward parts; and in the hidden part Thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
8 Make me to hear joy and gladness that the bones which Thou hast broken may rejoice.
9 Hide Thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
11 Cast me not away from Thy presence, and take not Thy Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore unto me the joy of Thy salvation, and uphold me with Thy free Spirit.
13 Then will I teach transgressors Thy ways, and sinners shall be converted unto Thee.

When my heart gets weary, the Lord brings Psalm 121 to comfort my heart.

Psalm 121
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help.
2 My help cometh from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.
3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
4 Behold, He that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
5 Thy Lord (YHWH) is thy keeper; the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand.
6 The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
7 The Lord (YHWH) shall preserve thee from all evil; He shall preserve thy soul.
8 The Lord (YHW) shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

I find that many people use something as an idol, be it for show, protection or as a part of their religion or worship.

How God views these things are important, regardless of what people are taught.

Can man ever create anything that subsitute for him in our worship to him.

Can ANY religious imblem save us from calamity forever.

Psalms 115:1-9 NIV, DARBY, NASB

1. To us belongs nothing, O Jehovah, to us belongs nothing,
But to your name give glory
According to your loving-kindness, according to your trueness.

2. Why should the nations say:
"Where, now, is their God?"

3. But our God is in the heavens;
Everything that he delighted [to do] he has done.

4. There idols are silver and gold,
The work of the hands of earthling man.

5. A mouth they have, but they cannot speak;
Eyes they have, but they cannot see;

6. Ears they have, but they cannot hear.
A nose they have, but they cannot smell.

7. Hands are theirs, but they cannot feel.
Feet are theirs, but they cannot walk;
They utter no sound with their throat.

8. Those making them will become just like them.
All those trusting in them.

9. O Israel, trust in Jehovah;
He is their help and their shield.

Psalm 25:8 Good and upright is the LORD: therefore will he teach sinners in the way.

Psalm 25:9 The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.

Psalm 25:10 All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.

Reminds me how Good is our God :)

Psalms 19:7-11 also

The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.8The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
9The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
10More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
11Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.
