The scripture is very clear on how sinners shall be made Righteous before God, hence by the ONE OBEDIENCE of Jesus Christ Rom 5:19b

19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

Thats Paul's Gospel ! Now because of Christ's active and passive obedience, and that alone, for His Church, Spiritual Seed Chosen in Him Eph 1:4, God does Impute to all of them a Perfect Righteousness, that constitutes them or causes them to be Righteous in His Sight ; This for them is done freely without works or any conditions performed or acted by them. This Righteousness we are made to be by Christ's Obedience is a Perfect Righteousness, His very own Evangelical Obedience to God's Law and Justice, so therefore it cannot be any of our own evangelical obedience to Gospel commands involved, that is why it is the Obedience of One, that they are Made Righteous ?

Was Christ's Obedience evangelical ? Yes it was, That was the Point Christ made here about water baptism Matt 3:13-15

13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.

14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?

15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.

By His Obedience , all for whom He died are made Righteous, thats the only way a man can be made Righteous before God !

2 Corinthians 5:21 We see Gods righteousness imputed to the believer as our sin was imputed to our Savior.

"For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will NEVER enter the kingdom of heaven." Matt 5:20

"Brothers, I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees." Acts 23:6 __Spoken by Paul many years after his experience on the road to Damascus.

As christians we have two natures: one carnal (of the flesh) and one spiritual (of the spirit).
Paul tells us "to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true
righteousness and holiness." Ephesians 4:22-24

we are to put to death our carnal nature, and live by our new spiritual nature which we have received through Christ. We are not mere robots of God, but are active participants in his work of redemption. We have a choice to live by our carnal nature or live by our spiritual nature. It is not by our own works that we are made righteous, but it is by our participating in his work so that his true righteousness and holiness is made manifest in our lives.

How do you explain then that David, Job and Abraham were considered righteous by God?

yes it definitely is.....
But since we are a new creation, our lives will change..
That doesn't mean we have any credit, since our failures in Christian walk is clear enough to show we achieve Salvation by Christ.
All Glory always goes to God...and that leaves no room for condemnation preaching nor self condemnation.
But Acts of Compassion(in Jesus) must Reflect because of Gratitude for the Pain Jesus took for us..
God Bless:)

By the blood of Christ being applied unto one who acknowledges Jesus by the act of faith......
This is what Paul, by the Holy Spirit, is teaching in Rom.5:15-17 Only the "many" will get the gift. "those who RECEIVE the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.)" This gift of justification will only be given to those receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord by faith. And we know that only those who are "born of God" will come to Christ. And we know that only those chosen of God will be saved., as Rom. 8"29fff teaches. There is a potential of all being saved if they would meet the conditions of repent trust and obey. But the chosen remnant is only by grace not works. Only those who submit to God's way will be saved, by grace that produces faith and works of righteousness. I know many are saved who reject the election of God. Then , returning to Rom.5:19 Paul returns to the new birth, sanctification begun, the radical brake with sin by the new birth MAKING the sinner righteous, by the new nature imparted to them. and ch. 6 is all about who we live for. Being born of the Spirit ch. 6, we live for Jesus and His righteous ways by our new nature that makes our righteousness better than the pharisees because their was only outward conformity to man's rules not to God's holy laws. then 7 & 8 continues the holy Christians life lived by the Spirit's direction. You miss real salvation if you fail to see both Sanct, and justi. Love to all, Hoffco

There is both a 'declared' righteousness=justification thru faith.

And a process of being made righteous=sanctification thru continuing in the faith.

...All byHis grace.

More False witnessing ! Rom 5:19

19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
But you have left out a big part of it

Romans 3

21 But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. 22 This righteousness is given through faith in[h] Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25 God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement,[i] through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— 26 he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.
27 Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. Because of what law? The law that requires works? No, because of the law that requires faith. 28 For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law. 29 Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too, 30 since there is only one God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith. 31 Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law.

Jesus had not yet been crucified, they believed God and He accounted it for righteiusness.

  • [h=4]Romans 4:3 KJV[/h] For what saith the scripture ? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.

  • [h=4]Galatians 3:6 KJV[/h] Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.

  • [h=4]James 2:23 KJV[/h] And the scripture was fulfilled which saith , Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.

Through the Blood (Life) of Jesus we are made righteous, and not of our doing. Jesus is real, He's not a name from the past only.

More False witnessing ! Rom 5:19

19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
Context would help your confusion.

Romans 5.17 - 21

For if by the deviation of the one death reigned through the one, much more those who are receiving the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness shall rule in life by the One, Jesus Christ. So then, as through one deviation it was toward all men to condemnation, so also through one righteous act toward all men to justification of life. For as through the one man's disobedience the many were constituted sinners, so also through the obedience of the One the many shall be constituted righteous. But Law came in besides, that the deviation might abound. But where sin abounded, grace much more abounded, that as sin ruled in death, so also grace might rule through righteousness to everlasting life, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Key terms to remember...grace and justification are combined with Righteousness....and these things come through The Second Person of The Trinity.

Thus, Righteousness is in response to worship of the Triune God.

Period.
