Put on the New Self

8But now you also, put them all aside: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive speech from your mouth. 9Do not lie to one another, since you laid aside the old self with its evil practices, 10and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him--…

Your thoughts please

Get your eyes off sin and get them on Jesus. It isn't what you do that saves you, its what He did. Self-righteousness is not the righteousness that God accepts, it is only the faith righteousness that God accepts. Focusing on sin never releases someone from sinning. "Sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but grace." Grace is what will free them, not law, and not condemning them. For Christ doesn't condemn them, even yet while in their sins. "There if therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ." Grace isn't a license to sin, grace never empowers a person to sin. Their flesh does. Their lack of renewing their mind to the truths of grace, of Jesus is was keeps them in bondage to sin. You want liberty? Look to Jesus.

Found a nice Bible that tells it like it is:

The new living Bible, you can understand a lot of these sayings easily

take KJV NIV and this new one and compare and many verses are made clear

16
To those who are perishing we are a fearful smell of death and doom.
But to those who are being saved we are a life-giving perfume. And who is adequate for such a task as this?

17
You see, we are not like those hucksters
-- and there are many of them --
who preach just to make money.
We preach God's message with sincerity and with Christ's authority.
And we know that the God who sent us is watching us.

Taking these three versions and comparing them exposes all hucksters and profiteering churches as what they are.

Paul says:

13 My letters have been straightforward, and thereis nothing written between the lines and nothing you can't understand.

we dont need a secret priest to interpret anything
what they do is COVER UP the truth and twist it so that they are not exposed by Gods word
read your own Bible
Jesus sends the spirit to understand

those quotes were from 2 corinthians in the new living Bible which is the best Bible for newly converted...

nice and clear
compare with KJV and NIV and you have a full u nderstanding

best to look up each word for the real meaning by computer...

but simpler to read through the new living Bible one time
really nice

maybe it will help if we do like God said to do. Take the plank out of our own eyes, before we try to remove the speck out of our brother or sisters eye.

I have never met a christian who tries to justify his sin. This is not the problem. Who can be birn of God, chastened by the spirit and justify sin? No one can, the chastening would be to tough.

What I see is alot of people justify their sin by preaching law and rules. and trying to force everyone to see their view. Which focuses on sin, And prevents them from seeing the actual sin they have in their own lives.

We need to focus, like ben said, On God and not who is the one following the law the best, or who is struggling. God will take care of the ones struggling, All we can do is come along side. It is not our job, nor do we have the ability to change anyone, when WE STILL struggle with sin (maybe not the same ones, but still the same)

4We use God's mighty weapons, not mere worldlyweapons, to knock down the Devil's strongholds.5With these weapons we break down every proudargument that keeps people from knowing God. With these weapons we conquertheir rebellious ideas, and we teach them to obey Christ.6And we will punishthose who remained disobedient after the rest of you became loyal and obedient.7The trouble with you is that you make yourdecisions on the basis of appearance.

that is a poor translation and why I hate the NLV

[SUP]4 [/SUP]For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, [SUP]5 [/SUP]casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, [SUP]6 [/SUP]and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.

this disobedience is the thoughts which come into our own head. the punishing is punishing the evil thoughts in our head, and casting them away.

It is not punishing disobedient people. it is punishing any idea or thought which is opposed to God.

I have failed pretty miserably. I am studying james 1: 1-8 because I have to teach in church tomorrow night. I had to go get a permit to do some work on my house, and the city gave me a hastle. and the person who told me what to do the week before made a mistake. I was supposed to be doing the work today and took of to do it, but can;t because of the mistake. I got angry and did not represent God, because I knew I would suffer.

Talk about God testing me in my teaching, and me failing miserably.

woe is me..

God say we have to live among the weeds your right about that,, but we win the race the weeds dont ,, :) amen,, but here will not be any weeds left at the end of the race..

[h=3]Matthew 13:24-30[/h]New International Version - UK (NIVUK)

[h=3]The parable of the weeds[/h][SUP]24 [/SUP]Jesus told them another parable: ‘The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. [SUP]25 [/SUP]But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. [SUP]26 [/SUP]When the wheat sprouted and formed ears, then the weeds also appeared.
[SUP]27 [/SUP]‘The owner’s servants came to him and said, “Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?”
[SUP]28 [/SUP]‘“An enemy did this,” he replied.
‘The servants asked him, “Do you want us to go and pull them up?”
[SUP]29 [/SUP]‘“No,” he answered, “because while you are pulling up the weeds, you may uproot the wheat with them. [SUP]30 [/SUP]Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: first collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.”’

Oh goodness, did I stumble onto one of those grace vs law threads?

why is nothing simple any more? If the Bible says to stay away from malice, wrath, etc, then it means we should not partake of them. Simple as that.
