Thankfully, science is starting to catch up somewhat and acknowledges that certain emotions (intangible) affect the physical body negatively and can effect negative psychological (tangible) and mental problems. Some of these negative effects are arthritis, heart problems, anxiety, depression, cancer, etc. Because God created us three parts interconnected, all three parts are able to and do affect each other. When it comes to living as Christians, all three parts of a person need to be addressed for wholeness.

Love, the Bible shows, contains all kinds of solutions to all kinds of issues: diseases, mental and psychological issues, spiritual issues and this dealing with the demonic, etc. The Bible says that "Love covers a multitude of sins." That's not all Love covers; Love generally covers. There's a doctrine of spiritual covering that the enemy defiled long ago to keep people from the undefiled teaching and power of it. The Bible tells us not to forsake gathering with other believers (sincere followers of Christ) because there's a spiritual covering of Love in that place. Can fellowship with genuine believers really 'cure' many types of issues? I might record evidence of this someday. Yes, being in fellowship with genuine believers can bring relief in many areas without extra minister being needed to deal with the issues. Here are some, but by no means all, issues that being in the presence of genuine believers can solve: depression, anxiety, anger, grief and loss and sorrow, minor physical illnesses (like stomach issues, headaches, some colds, vision and back problems, etc.) often caused by a lack of joy, indecision, low self-esteem/worth, curses sent on a person, some demonic issues, unanswered prayers, financial problems, confusion of identity, etc. Fellowship is starting to sound like a pretty sweet deal :)

I know people who aren't part of a fellowship where people really seek God (seeking Him is what makes Him reside among them, causing peace or an overall well-being). They never cease to struggle with this and to need prayer for the same things over and over. There's a very real need for genuine fellowship where Jesus really is in the midst as Lord. Many Christians suffer, most in silence in my opinion, because of a lack of this. Recognizing the need for fellowship where Jesus is allowed to be Lord is a good start in understanding why so many issues are unresolved and many Christians hurt and struggle endlessly.

Allin,

as you say, 'fellowship' is wonderful therapy.

the things that you singled out are very real burdens,
depression plus all of the various stresses.

often just sharing and talking about these things to one another
will start a healing process.....

if we pray as a unified group, oh boy! here come more help!!!
if we develop Christ's art of Love,
being able to speak a word or perform an action according to His perfect timing,
then this will surely help our brethren and ourselves to the fullest extent.

in our experience we have found that so many carry around the burdens of
guilt,
grudges,
bitterness,
anger,
jealousy,
self-loathing,
insecurities........

in the scriptures we read that people are confessing their sins,
all day long, and from personal experience, we find that this
can go on for quite a bit longer that just ONE DAY!
it's equivalent to pruning all of the rotten branches
from a tree, so then the tree is free to bring forth
an abundance of good fruits.

as you so aptly pointed out,
our Lord doesn't want us to carry around all of the troublesome burdens
that so weight us down and stifle our Spiritual and physical, and emotional growth.

true Spiritual Freedom will not hold hands with demonic/burdens.

You said it. You write, "If we pray as a unified group, oh boy! here come more help!!!" Absolutely. And yes, the confession of sin is ongoing. One of the main issues preventing genuine fellowship is that so many don't want any accountability; desiring naturally the company of others, they want to remain isolated so they can live as they want. It shouldn't have to take fear and world collapse to bring Christians together, but it will. Christianity is a game to so many and another source of self-pleasure for others. It'll be cool to see what relevant Christianity looks like and to live it alongside others.

So often science discovers that God shows the way, although it seldom agrees it is simply backing up what scripture has said all along.

The latest and greatest discoveries have to do with the brain, and everyone has said that scripture has explained it correctly all along. Scripture says to renew your mind, it tells us we have control of our thoughts and what to think about. It tells us what thoughts are destructive to ourselves and what builds us up. Now, science is repeating these same things, except they are taking all the credit for discovering it.

Through brain imaging, they found out that you can reshape the very structure of the brain by thoughts. They say that it is how the body works that thoughts come, if the body doesn't work right then it produces thoughts that are not right. Now, they found that it works the other way, too. If our thoughts are as God tells us they should be, now they find that makes the body work correctly so it produces good thoughts and saneness.

There are actually doctors of psychiatry who are making this make them lots of money. They establish clinics where people pay thousands to have help control their thoughts, and so cure mental illness. They use God thoughts, but don't give God the credit for them.

Now, there is great controversy based on "what comes first the chicken or the egg" type of thinking. Was it a body malfunction that caused the thought malfunction or did bad thoughts cause the body malfunction? It is agreed that it needs medical interference once this malfunction is started, but it has been proven that only medicine without following God is only a help, not a solution.

You said it. Someday science may discover, before it's all over, that knowledge and intelligence are not the same-- that the former comes from the mind (and is never really concrete) while the latter comes from the heart (and actually leads toward or/and acknowledges God). I'm yet to hear anyone make this distinction... but then it's because people (like scientists) who've acquired a lot of knowledge like to think they're intelligent, therefore, they never bother to define or distinguish between the terms. Pride often prevents us from seeing answers that are right in front of us, like scientists who are finally discovering old things and broadcasting them as new. That's what happens when "professing themselves to be wise, they became fools".
