So, I was recently talking with my science teacher and she was trying to persuade me that the big bang was for real. I was totally against it when i went into the conversation, but by the end I had some different thoughts. For instance it never says in the bible how God created the earth, it just says that he did. So, who's to say that he didn't spin the earth into motion through the big bang? Now I'm not saying that I agree with evolution cause I absoloutly do not. But I am wondering why so many christians I know hear about the big bang and right away say no. It's quite possible that God created the earth through a bang, is it not? I just kind of want some thoughts on this. Thanks guys. God bless you.

The big bang theory doesn't exactly contradict scripture. As long as your teach doesn't convince evolution is true you're fine. :p

I agree, I've never had a problem with the Big Bang, just how most scientists say it was caused.

There are various versions of the Big Bang theory.

It is well known among physiscists that for every particle of matter, there is a particle of antimatter which means that the total net amount of matter in the univers is zero.

Interestingly the Bible says that God created the universe out of nothing.

Observationally we appear to be near the centre of the universe. Because this appears so unlikely to the Godless they develope a theory of space wrapping back on itself and having no edges. This defies Occam's Razor.

Anyone needs to look at a book called starlight and time.

In this theory it all started with water.

Interestingly Genesis backs this up.

I'm in favor of the Big Bang theory. When the big bad atheists try to rub scientific theory in the face of religion, saying how backwards Christianity is and how great science is for it's ability to explain everything without God, I like to remind them that the man who came up with the theory, George Lemaitre, was a "Christian, backwards, anti-science, stuck-in-the-middle-ages" priest.

I believe God is the creator of all that is. The Bible tells us this. However God wanted to do it is up to him. The point is, he is responsible, we're his creations, and we owe him everything and he owes us nothing.

One of my pastors said something along the lines of "explosions don't create, they destroy", and everyone in the church agreed.

The Big Bang theory was proposed by Georges Lemaitre, a physicist who was also a priest. He, and several others at the time, saw it as proof that the universe had a beginning, and therefore had to have a cause (i.e. God created). If the universe was eternal, as was commonly thought by atheists at the time, then that contradicted the biblical account of the universe having a starting point.

One positive implication of the BB theory is that if everything is expanding from a central point we have evidence for a beginning.

The flaws include:
1. what exploded
2. where did it come from
3. where did the energy necessary for the explosion come from
4. where did all the subsequent matter come from
5. how did life develop
6. how did the chaos become so orderly and run with such precision

So why is it so hard to believe that it is possible that God spun the earth into orbit through a bang? It just sounds to me like you have put no thought into it and just insist no because that is how you were brought up.

Sometimes my head aches with the research and proof that people require. Somethings you have to just take on faith, and BELIEVE

This is the thing though. Why not believe in a bang creating the earth? We aren't called to have blind faith. Who says God can't have been behind it? I 100% know that God created the earth, I do. But who's to say he didn't do it through a bang. The bible doesn't tell us how God did it, it just says he did.

God spoke it into being... no banging around... Worldly view can never comprehend faith in God's word that what God says is true is true. We are so arrogant in our need to be seen as "intelligent", we need to know these details and argue our God to the worldly scientist genius's who lack the spirit and therefore can not understand just having faith because God said so. God is so much bigger than us & we in our pin headed comprehension will never be able to fully grasp his greatness and exactly how we came to be. not even the greatest genius of our time. They recreated the "big bang" machine... did you hear about that. I seriously roared when i saw that... wonder if new heavens & earth will be created by the "miracle" (their words not mine) of the big bang machine. I'm with Cup of Ruin & Pastor Keith... I'll stick with Gods interpretation of creation as given by scripture.

God spoke the world into existence. The big bang doesn't make sense. A bunch a gases floating in space and it blew up and it created earth. After that, people start talking about evolution. Big bang is another way evolutionists try to say there is no God. You are right God could have done it that way, but I think the problem is the people who support big bang support evolution and atheism.
