Question: "What is a biblical theology of worship?"

Answer:
Recently, there is a renewed focus on worship—what it is and how it is to be done. The church that does not operate under the biblical theology of worship is in danger of both failing to give God glory and failing to offer worship that is pleasing to Him. Worship is as misunderstood a doctrine as any other within the church. Contrary to popular belief, worship does not begin and end with the singing portion of our church services. Worship is also not limited to only bowing in reverence before God. To begin with, worship is only determined by God Himself, and not everything we do is acceptable to God as worship just because we are sincere or it makes us feel good.

Hebrews 12:28 tells us that we must “serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear” (NKJV). The Greek word translated “serve” here is a form of the word “worship” and is used 21 times in the New Testament in the contexts of service and worship. Another form of the word "worship” is the Greek word therapeuo—from which we get the English word “therapy”—and this is most often seen translated "heal" in reference to the healing of others. In the New Testament, this word is seen in every case of Jesus' healings.

Worshp is only correct when we do it according to the scriptures

God knows what he wants from us

our worship what we think, lke CAINS worship wll always be rejected

worshipping according to what God says will always be accepted

WOrship is SO IM{ORTANT that the first angels message in revelation 14 tell the world to straighten up their babylon ways and worship God correctly!

HERE IS GOD CORRECTION TO BABYLON HOW TO WORSHIP

FIRST ANGEL

Rev 14:6 And I saw an... angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,
Rev 14:7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come:
and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

worship means what?
WORSHIP = to fawn, crouch to, prostrate oneself in homage, do reverence to God, to adore him and love him.
What is with the fountains of waters etc etc?

lets see

Exo 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Exo 20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
Exo 20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
Exo 20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

again, worship the God who created all things and worship on seventh day...

He told us to

if we obey and do on the Sabbath day our worship like he SAID to
and we KNEEL
and we ADORE and we PRAISE him
and do it the whole day

we are keeping it....

there is more

Isa 58:13 If thou keep the sabbath, and keep from doing your own pleasures on my holy day;
and call the sabbath a delight,
the holy reverent day of God the Eternal Creator honourable;
and shalt honor GOD and not yourselves,
and not doing your own ways,
nor finding your own pleasures,
nor speaking your own words:

Isa 58:14 Then God will be delighted over you;
and God will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth,
and give you the eternal life heritage of Jacob thy father:
for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

If you keep sunday you break commandment #4
God is not there
and you will not be blessed

blessing From God is eternal life

If you love God you want to obey and do all that he says
if you do your own way you dont love him more than yourself.

For the record here is the angel two and angel three warning that goes along with it.

Rev 14:8 And there followed another angel, saying,
Babylon (church) is fallen, is fallen,
that great city (church), because she made all nations drink of the wine
of the wrath of her fornication (allowing divorce in the church).

Rev 14:9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice,
If any man worship (listen to, follow) the beast man and his image (pagan sun day worship),
and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,(666 RFID)

Rev 14:10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God,
which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation;
and he shall be punished and destroyed with fire and brimstone
in the presence of the holy angels,
and in the presence of the Lamb:

Rev 14:11 And the destruction into smoke is for eternity:
and they have no Sabbath day rest,
who worship the beast and his image (Sunday worship),
and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name 666 RFID

Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints:
here are they that keep the commandments of God,
(including number 4 seventh day Sabbath)
and the faith of Jesus.

According to the Bible

if you are worshipping on sunday you are not Bible obedient and you are not worshipping God as he asked
if you worship on sunday you are obeying the pope. That is the facts, since He invented and passed the LAW in 321 AD to change that day and KILL ALL THOSE WHO DID NOT CHANGE

so it was a big deal and everyone knows where sunday worship came from... just look in the catholic catechism
it says that sunday is the day changed by the catholics and it is a marker of their power over God and shows how powerful they are.

not kidding you

guess who wins. :)

Christians who follow the Bible

Satan wants everyone to worship him
hes crazy
he created nothing
he cant make anything with life in it
no one likes him
he is a pariah
so he has to trick people to worship him
what satisfaction is that?
insane mind...

Luke 4:6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.
Luke 4:7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.
Luke 4:8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

You are confused on what scripture says and means. According to you, the pope had someone insert scriptures in Romans 14:4-6

.........................we must KNEEL in worship to pray.
More confusion on your part. There is nothing we can do physically to worship God. It is done by our inner man, not the outer.
Acts 17:25 "Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;"

John 4:19) The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
20 .) Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
21 .) Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
22 .) Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
23 .) But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 .) God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

That is a good article. Altho I prefer KJV, it doesn't change the meaning. Here is a sentence that illustrates what worship is: "True worship is offered to God from the depths of our inner being in praise and prayer, in song, in giving, and in living. But always based upon His revealed truth."

The article is very interesting indeed. Worship means much more than bowing and singing (exterior gestures), worship has a spiritual dimension since we are called to worship in truth and spirit. We must worship God with our entire being, with our eyes, our minds, our senses, our bodies, everything. The correct/orthodox worship is in fact the reflection of a correct understanding of God, a correct expression of God.

I also agree that the worship based on sentimentalism (the writer says "sincere feelings") doesn't mean worship in truth and spirit. On the contrary, the stupid emotions and the cheesy religious imaginary is idolatry (mental gods).

Very good article (great website) "Just as they will be in eternity, our lives now are to be lives of total worship of God. When we eat, sleep, work, serve, and live from sunup to sundown, all that we do is to be in a spirit of worship of God."

Worship is the one doctrine we will carry over to eternity, we won't be debating scripture, preaching, teaching, or healing.

And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
(Mar 12:30)

that pretty much covers it.

I agree, physical worship without the spirit is nothing, but God sees what works we do, also. Our work reflect either God or flesh.

1Co_10:31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for God's glory.

So what we do physically to worship God, if it is the result of our inner worship of God, does count.

No. What counts isn't that we do it. He clearly said He needs nothing from us seeing as He made us and everything else. What counts is why we do it.

So you think that your thoughts without any action to back up those thoughts are going to be sufficient? Faith includes actions to prove faith. The very Hebrew picture of faith is nailing onto a wall, hanging our knowledge of God on a solid wall.

Jas_2:26 For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.

Wow, I always understood that worship was something "spiritual", is it not written: worship Him is Spirit because He is Spirit? Why oh why, do we have such problems with the nuts and bolts of Christianity. The simple things of crying "Abba Father", we seem to forget that we are "spiritual" creatures, our connection to God is Spiritual not physical. This "physical" will be replaced with something "new" and exciting. And in this "something new" we will see our Lord of Lords and King of Kings, not in this body though, not "clean enough? And about worship anyhow, why do we make such a thing (not bad) about something that seems so difficult to do? Meaning this: We worship though prayer, singing or psalms, dancing, or just praising Him, I do think that God is looking at the heart of things, heart of our worship and again in what Spirit did we do it? It is more attitude than anything else and above all, it is Spiritual! Be blessed all you Blood-Bought and why not?

red, you poor woman. You have such a lack of understanding of scripture. What you do is a result of your inner being. You read the scriptures that have been put up. Why do you resist the Holy Ghost so?
Tell me, what physical act is used in worshipping God in spirit and in truth? What did Paul mean when he said what he did in Acts 17:25? Don't argue with me, simply tell me what those scriptures mean?

Everything we do outwardly is for people. We are to set an example for others. It is unbelievable that at your age you are still on milk, still trying to please God by your works. That is vanity, red, vanity. Empty. Nothing there for God. In vain do you worship Him......

1 Samuel 16:7 "But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart."

Which is why I spoke of the need to be "sanctified."

New believers.............are surely saved...........BUT there is a NEED to be "sanctified." If not, then that new believer will remain supping on milk.............regardless of how long they live...........Paul spoke of this in his writings concerning "carnal" believers vs. "spiritual" believers............

"Sanctified" believers (who have the indwelling presence of the Holy Ghost) are able to feast on the meat of His Word. Sanctified believers are able to understand the "spiritual" state of Christianity............

We see a LOT of this here on CC, and in the world............believers who simply do not understand the "spiritual" aspect of Christianity, for they are chained to the "carnal" aspect of Christianity.

(my thoughts)

Matthew 15:9
They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.’” ( The people were taught to worship is to express it in a physical manner so that God can see you and on a time schedule. But God look at the heart)
John 4:23
Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.

John 4:24
God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
( Since God is unseen, we must worship Him in that way. We are suppose to worship Him from our hearts and only when salvation has came upon us spontaneous, not on a schedule time.)
