In the beginning God created everything in six days but He didn't stop there, He continued on to created a seventh day in which He blessed, sanctified and called holy. These words have meaning to God and automatically instill a sense of value and reverence to the day.
When a child of God encounters something holy there WILL be an automatic sense of reverence and honor. When the holy things of God go unnoticed or are viewed as a common thing God loses His High and Lofty position in His creation.
God is Creator of all things but He is also our Father. The Majesty and Holiness of God is unapproachable by sinful man. His relationship with His creation is motivated by one of two things Law and punishment or Love. God desires our relationship with Him to based on love but He's forced, by the wickedness of man, to base it on Law.
The Law protects the Holy and Sacred things of God against wicked and vile men.
The Law causes fear of punishment thus puts people in bondage to even the tiniest violation of the Law.
In Christ we are free from the Law and its fear of punishment. A great exchange takes place when we become a son/daughter of the Most High. We are taken out from under confines of the Law and are given a new spirit and a new heart ready and willing to value and honor the holy things of God.
To a child of the Most High the seventh day becomes special. It becomes a day we look forward to, not a day that we dread and fear.
The Law to the wicked or unregenerate is empowered by their lack of reverence and honor for the holy things of God but to the child of God there is no Law governing Sabbath behavior accept the law of love for God and man.
To the child of God, who loves God and are part of His family it is lawful to good, even if it appears to be a violation to those who are unregenerate. Why is that? Because to a child of God the Sabbath is set apart as special in their heart first. A child of God can't violate the seventh day Sabbath by working because they are not under the Law that governs behavior on the Sabbath.
The child of God longs for that sweet Sabbath fellowship with his eternal family every Sabbath. God has surly anointed that day with special blessing for all who lay aside their own activities to focus on making the Sabbath special for God and His family.
Isaiah 58:13-14 “Keep the Sabbath day holy. Don’t pursue your own interests on that day, but enjoy the Sabbath and speak of it with delight as the Lord’s holy day. Honor the Sabbath in everything you do on that day, and don’t follow your own desires or talk idly. Then the Lord will be your delight. I will give you great honor and satisfy you with the inheritance I promised to your ancestor Jacob. I, the Lord, have spoken!
