The following may not be a spirit of suicide, but what kind spirit or thinking made this happen?
A man in his late 30's, who loved his work and was always on the go was told by his doctor that he had to change his diet and get his bad cholesterol down or he could have a heart attack. Well, he continued his schedule and eating habits (mostly fast foods because of being on the go) and a few months later dropped dead at the front door of his church on a Sunday morning. He died of a deadly heart attack and when they did the autopsy, his bad cholesterol was over (600). He was warned by a doctor, given advice which he obviously ignored, and the deadly heart attack came to past.
Here is my inquiry. I don't think for a moment that he intended to end his life in any way, but when the warning comes and you do not heed that warning with the result being physical death, it is like suicide (the loss of life) through negligence with careless and reckless disregard for your own life. The same risk is involved with those that smoke, those that drink alcoholic beverages, those that abuse their bodies with having sexual relations with multiple partners and those that do illegal drugs and abuse, over the counter pharmaceuticals. We have all said it of some people, 'They are slowly killing themselves' and when it comes to pass we say, 'I knew it was going to happen'. The unfortunate thing is that no one, even through unconditional love, was able to change their mind or heart on the matter. I don't know what some of you would call that but I would lean toward a spirit of pride.
