yes bro it is true. what Christ taught during His earthly ministry, doesn't fall under the new testament. see this, a testament is only valid after the death of the testator. so can you see that pls? by the way Jesus Christ during His earthly ministry was the minister of the circumcision that is the Jews ( Rom 15:8)
The Gospels are in the New Testament in my Bible and I intend to keep them there!!! :)

So the disciples who had heard only Christ's words and had not yet heard Paul's words were at "best good Jews" - and not saved yet! ????? Just kidding . . . but this really does not make any sense at all - to put the words of Paul as a foundation over the words of Jesus . . .
At the risk of just repeating the same thing over again I'll just refer you back to the Lewis quote.

Me too - at the risk of just repeating the same thing over again I'll just refer you to the words of Jesus in John14:6: (which I think is bubbling over with good doctrine!):

[SUP]"[/SUP]Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

Grace 777x77 - I don't always agree with you, but I do respect your attitudes and approach . . .

Are you saying that
(1) You don't know if Joseph Prince said this - to not take doctrine from the Gospels
(2) If he did say it, that you and others who believe in "hyper grace" would disagree
We can all agree to disagree on points too which is not a bad thing at all...:)

....as I say I expect and pray that I won't agree with all I believe now in 5 years as I learn more about the beauty and grace of our Lord Jesus.

1) I have never heard that statement before from Prince personally but I haven't listen much to him in the last year or so...the first I heard of this was from heard the heretic hunters say that about "not taking doctrine from the gospels."

2) I would say that I would have to look at the "context" of what was said at the time in order to what doctrine is trying to be made.

For example : Jesus told the rich ruler to sell all he had and to follow Him - if someone came out with a doctrine that said "See, Jesus Himself said to sell everything - so, we must sell all out things now" These are the words of Jesus so we must "follow" Him or we are not obeying the word of God.

The above "doctrine" from the gospels I would say is not applicable to the New Covenant believer - even though they were the words of Jesus.

I saw a person one time try to tell us that Prince said that grace was our Mother God when in fact when you look at what was said in context - he was just making an allegory about Mount Sinai ( where the Law came in ) and Mt Zion ( where grace comes to us )

So, I have seen these heretic hunters "twist" what is really being said so much to make it "appear" they are saying something else that it is just lies and slander and mostly malice because they may disagree on some points.

I always encourage people to hear it from the horse's mouth and not what some one "says they said". There is very often a huge difference.

can you bring on here the particular teaching of Joseph prince in question; so that we can all listen to as well? i really hate this "i hear say" attitude that is going on among Christians. sometime we behave worse than the world. we are suppose to love respect each other; especially men of God irrespective of their doctrines. if i say something for instance on here concerning a man of God, i am ready to proof it. but if i cannot, then i just stay quiet.. i have never listened to Joseph prince but i will not condemn him just bc you said so. i am looking forward to listening to that teaching. and if you cannot bring it forward, then stop disrespecting ministers of God plse. Thanks

I believe what she was saying is that the New Covenant didn't actually start until Christ was crucified and He rose again and was ascended to the Father.

The New Testament as far as the New Covenant goes doesn't start when Jesus was born but when He finished His work of redemption for us all. Till then He lived under the Law to redeem those that were under the Law and to reveal the kingdom of God to us.

Jesus aid "I have many things to tell you but you can't bear it yet." We need the Holy Spirit within us to reveal the things of Christ to us.

For sure the gospels are in what we call the "New Testament" and that certainly was the start to complete the New Covenant but without the epistles of Paul we would have no idea what happened at the cross and resurrection of Christ - nor what happened to us believers in Christ and that we are not in fact new creations in Christ - united as one spirit in the Lord with Him and the Father - by the Holy Spirit.

Anyway - that is the way I view the New Covenant.

Thanks! I understand how heretic hunters can take something and twist it all upside down inside out. I agree completely about your example of the rich young ruler.

So I think that probably Joseph Prince theology is a bit heavy on Paul and light on Jesus' words. But then he would probably say mine is heavy on Jesus' words and light on Paul.

Woe is me if the heretic hunters begin pulling apart my words!!

oh yes, any Jew who heard only the words of Jesus before the cross, was not saved. (for one to be saved , there must be a cross) but if he( the Jew) happened to be around when the apostles were spreading the Good news and happened to hear it, then he would be saved. There is no salvation before the cross, not even from Christ earthly teachings!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL..that was funny.....if you are in the limelight - you will get it for your "heresies" for sure...

A heretic hunter that disagreed with your belief that Jesus' words are "not doctrine" about the rich young ruler - would rake your name over the coals for not agreeing that you should give all your money away. You are not a "follower" of Christ now and are against the word of God....

Actually one of the things about Prince is that he lifts up the Lord Jesus Christ in all his teachings. He can find Jesus in every part of the Old Testament. Listen to a couple of his full sermons on youtube and see if he doesn't lift up Jesus and make Him bigger in our hearts.

( That is your assignment if you choose to accept it - the secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions if you get caught viewing one of his sermons by a heretic hunter )....:)

See my post #22 where I ask about the quote from Derek Prince in the original post #1 - I was asking if this was an actual quote that he said? From the responses I am getting I am wondering if it is more a misrepresentation of what he has said? I don't know? Can anyone come forward with an actual sermon where he says - "we can't take doctrine from the gospels"?

OK! Yes, I understand that! . . .

but my point is that someone reading John 3 today (Jesus' words' to Nicodemus) can be born again and saved - there is a lot of good doctrine in that chapter . . . And I also understand that of course they need to know the later events of the cross and the resurrection . . .

Well . . . I have watched a few clips from his sermons . . . Ah - I see - but you said listen to a "full" sermon!

I suppose I could give you an "assignment" as well from some ministers I like - but another day . . .

Suffice it to say - if the heretic hunters around me got wind of me watching and approving of your assignment - well
"woe would be to me!" - :)

(but I might anyway . . . if you listen to a full-length sermon by . . . . . :)

This forum needs more of such brash honesty coupled with rash humility!

No problem - I saw that you missed what I was trying to say - easy to do!

sorry , no!!! just reading JN 3 one cannot be born again, because for one to be born again he must believer that God raised Jesus from the death " if that if thou shall confess with they mouth the Lord Jesus and shall believe in thine heart that God raised him from the death, thou shall be saved!(Roms 10 :9) someone reading just Jn 3 without the knowledge of the resurrection cannot be born again!!!

You sound like a MAD follower. But the Testator (Jesus Christ) had to Testify FIRST=giving a testimony, before he died.

So the testimony of Jesus Christ is the New Testament which Jesus gave before He died, and then the apostles preached later.

Hebrews 9:16
For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.

Wrong, Abraham is the father of the faith and he heard the gospel of Jesus Christ and was saved as was all the OT saints that believed the Word of God=Christ and had His seed and Spirit in them.

Galatians 3:8
And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed."

This verse also tears down the false doctrine of MAD that only Paul was privy to the "mystery" gospel of Jesus Christ, of how salvation would also come to the Gentiles. Abraham and the OT prophets knew of it wayyyyy before Paul. :)

Just do an online search, I have found a couple of sites that say Prince said the same thing, and they are supposed to be "christian" sites so I don't see why they would make it up? But I just posted what they quoted.

bro you don't seem to get something here, during the early ministry of the lord, his testimony was about messianic ship; to full fill what what promised to the fore fathers. if you like just study the earthly ministry of the Lord; He did not heal any gentile except two and the two had to have great faith!!! he couldn't preach about his salvific work bc they would never have understood. in fact he tried with his own disciples but they couldn't until after the events took place. brief, the testimony of Jesus during his earthly ministry was him announcing that he is He( the messiah)and not that He is the Savior of the world even though He is. but he couldn't testify to that then!!!
