If the methods are good....none of this spiritual warfare councelling junk.
But loving help and group support i think its absolutely wonderful.

We are to support each other and bear each others burdens.
I went through group councelling once for a year....im soooo
thankful i did.

I remember tho the first maybe 6 months i thought the leader
was a twitt...but later i realized who was the twitt.

But anyway if its a good group with godly procedure im all for it.
Some things we cant do alone. And the Lord never expected us to.
In some things if we want His help we must receive it in the way He
ordained it. And He did ordain the church with gifts and leads them
to work together in building and strengthening its members.

If it is Christ centered.
Many addiction programs rely on nothing more than controlling that fire(addiction), by therapy.
The higher power must be Jesus.
But it IS necessary to confess your faults(addiction), to others.
In this, they do well.
But the falling back rate is high for 'self help' through humanistic terms.

Anytime one is honest enough with themself to seek help, their action is pleasing to God. Knowing that help was needed and not seeking it makes one "less" of a Christian ....for lack of a better term and for the sake of answering this question.. My answer is yes. One can be in rehab and still be a Christian. God bless :)

There is no difference between being under the power (addicted to) of a drug and being under the power of money/false security/physical comforts and luxury's/covetousness/etc.

This is why we (the everlasting priesthood) do not judge eternal judgement, because we're still checking to see if we might be under the power of something we haven't been made aware of yet. I'm trying to say that even if I'm not under the power of anything but God, I will not stop looking for potential thorns in the flesh until God tells me I can stop or heals me of it permanently (which I believe is when I get the new earthen vessel which goes perfectly with the new earth and heaven.

I do believe that not many, if any, would say that they're sure they're not under the power of any other than God at all times. We do judge the right and wrong in a specific situation as I'm sure y'all agree, but I will never tell anyone their eternal fate except to say to them that they shouldn't take any chances and should just be willing to do whatever possible to encourage and practice unlimited fruitfulness.

I love you all.

King James Version 1 Corinthians 6:12 12 All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

Sometimes I tell people that part of repentance is getting out from under the power of any by the power of God, and then continuing to do what God showed you to do to be brought out from under the power of any but God alone at all times.

Yes, I agree with everything you said.
But physical addictions can be dealt with in the material plain.(With Jesus' help and discipline over the body)
Whereas spiritual sins such as lust for: money, power, upper most places in the religious feasts, etc. ;
must be dealt with in the spirit,(again, with the Holy Spirit and spiritual discipline)

Of course. Many of us went through self-help groups after becoming Christians. It's very common for God to deliver people from their addictions. I haven't smoked a cigarette in 26 years nor even felt a desire to after two brothers prayed with me when I was very desperate to stop smoking a couple of months after beginning to follow Christ and that broke that addiction forever in my life.

Alcohol worked differently; however. I went through a Christian 12 step self-help group in which a couple of weeks in they put me into the middle of the room and everyone prayed for God to break the addiction. It worked. BUT, I was shaky for about 90 days and to maintain my sobriety had to go to for about three years to meetings to really grow in my sobriety and understand what it was all about.

I went to Celebrate Recovery meetings but also AA meetings. The AA people don't want to hear about Jesus Christ. They worship the God of their imagination. Still much of the material was good for sobriety and I benefitted from it. Also, there are a lot of them and so on nights when I felt a pang or was bored (Fridays and Saturdays) I would go to the meetings. Eventually, I grew so strong in my sobriety that I simply stopped going to them and have been fine for many years. BUT, again, I maintain my spiritual health and relationships and that's key.

Being a man, I still struggle with my thought life but I stay celibate.

I'm 26 years in and doing well. I'm a long way from that crazy person I once was. He's dead... only this old sober celibate Christian guy remains.

There's not a thing wrong with rehab, addicts need all the help they can get, especially if it is a phsically addictive substance. Just be aware of some of the lies in advance. Mental health professionals will tell you that you will be an addict foir life=this is not true. Some spiritual warfare Christians will tell you that you are possessed by a demon, this usually not the case. There is thing called demon opression, where one could say we are being tempted to do these things by a demon. That would be more acceptable. You wouldn't be functioning if you were possessed. Fact is that you can beat this any path you choose to rehab like other commenters suggested & showed.God Bless you dear! Never give up the fight. never. you will win in Jesus' name.
