IM NOT SURE ABOUT WHERE YOU ARE COMING FROM
I MYSELF
AS AN ASSOCIATE PASTOR AND EVANGELIST
NEVER WORRY ABOUT WHAT IT IS GOD WANTS ME TO PREACH ABOUT
MAYBE I AM UNIQUE
BUT I KNOW MANY WHO RECEIVE FROM GOD THE SAME AS I AM ABOUT TO REVEAL UNTO YOU
FOR ONE
I NEVER STRUGGLE ON MONDAY THRU THURSDAY
ABOUT
OH I HAVE TO FIND SOMETHING STIMULATING AND COOL TO READ AND PREACH ABOUT
BUT INSTEAD
I NEVER DOUBT
I WALK IN FAITH
THAT IF EVEN
I DONT HAVE A THING COME SUNDAY
WHEN I STEP ONTO
THE PODIUM
AND I BEGAN TO PRAY WITH THE CHURCH
THAT GOD WILL INDEED COME THRU
SOME OF THE GREATEST MESSAGES I HAVE PREACHED AND RECEIVED FOR MYSELF
ARE THOSE
BY WHICH
I NEVER HAD A CLUE WHAT GOD WAS GOING TO DO OR SAY
JESUS TOLD US
TO NOT BE PRACTICED IN WHAT WE WILL SAY
FOR WHEN WE ARE QUESTIONED
OR
PUT IN FRONT OF OTHERS TO SPEAK
WE ARE TO GO IN CONFIDENCE
THAT THE HOLY GHOST IN US
WHEN GIVEN FULL PERMISSION BY OURSELVES
WILL GIVE US WHAT TO SAY OR ANSWER
I PRAY BROTHER
IF YOU ARE A MINISTER OF GOD
WHICH BY YOU SAYING YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO PREACH ABOUT IN YOUR SERMON
SUGGESTS THAT YOU ARE A PREACHER
THAT
YOU BEGIN WITH TRUSTING IN GOD FIRST
THEN EACH STEP YOU TAKE FORWARD
YOU BELIEVE
HE IS RIGHT THERE ALWAYS
READY
ON YOUR BEHALF
TO GIVE YOU
WHAT IS NEEDED
WHEN YOU COME TO THAT POINT
YOU HAVE NOTHING AT ALL
MAY GOD KEEP AND BLESS YOU
You said some good things in your post. According to the scriptures, anyone that has been called to preach and teach must labor in the word and doctrine and study to show themselves approved as a workman who is not ashamed and rightly divides the word of truth / 1Tim 5:17, 2Tim 2:15. There is merit in the workman that labors diligently in the word and doctrine, hiding it and letting it dwell richly in his heart / Col 3:16. That is the preparation that every teacher and preacher must incorporate in their discipline through the Holy Spirit (not ghost) to make sure that the answer of the tongue is from the Lord / Prov 16:1. This is how we trust in the Lord and lean not on our own understanding or put confidence in the arm of the flesh / Prov 3:5, Jer 17:5. This is not a bunch of crap, it is the word of God through the scriptures and we are to give more earnest heed to what we have heard and been taught, so it does not slip away / Heb 2:1.
I had the privilege to take a homiletics class as a young believer and learn much about the art and science of preaching and teaching. The word science is okay to use because it means an area of knowledge that is the object of study. The students that took the course were given opportunity to preach and teach as part of their practicum. One of the pointers for young preachers was if you got up to preach and did not get anything from God, stop talking, sit down and let someone else speak. It was based on
Eccl 5:2...
'Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.'
It is a good verse for the young and novice in heart. I brought this verse up as a balance (not a rebuke) to the whole topic concerning preaching because a false balance is not good or wise / Prov 20:23.
