No more putting Christmas down so I want to wish everyone a very merry Nimrod/Tammuz/ Bacchus/Odin/Jupiter/Osiris/Neptune/Saturn/Thor/Zoroaster /Ninus/Kronos/Cupid/Horus/Typhon/Sheitan/Perseus/Aesculapius/Latinus/ and a thousand others. Break out the eggnog.
Oops!! I forgot to put 'mass' behind the names. Dummy me! Yes my great grand daughter is coming over to open gifts. Don't want to be a grinchscrooge! Just putting forth that the catholic holiday is about 'another Jesus'. But we can celebrate the true Jesus in spite of a world smack full of paganism, licentiousness, and drunkeness. He gets it. We get it. Praise His matchless Name!!

[h=3]1. The beginning of the Biblical year[/h]A. Our modern day calendar starts with January which is the middle of winter. According to history, late March to early April is the first of the year, which is around springtime.

March (month), third month of the Gregorian year, according to the present calendar. March was the first month of the Roman year, named for Mars, the god of war. In England, until the Gregorian calendar was adopted in 1752, March was considered the first month with the legal year beginning on March 25. -MS Bookshelf 98

Months names and definition (according to the American Heritage Dictionary):

This table shows that December (the last month of our modern day calendar) is really the 10th month of the Biblical calendar. This will then make January and February the 2 last months of the year. March will then fall in the place of the first month of the year.

B. According to Biblical times, the first month given to the Children of Israel is called Abib or which is now called Nisan in the Hebrew Calendar. This month is a remembrance to them when God took them out of the land of Egypt and into the Promise Land. This they would have to do every year as the Passover.

Exodus 13:4
This day came ye out in the month Abib.

[h=3]2. Linking the births to the Old Testament[/h]Now having an idea of when the new year begins, throughout the course of time, Christ was born at a certain time of the year. Christ was 6 months younger than John "The Baptist" (his cousin). John was conceived around the time when his father Zacharias completed his term in office as priest.

Luke 1:5
There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.

This chart shows us how King David divided up the priest's office accordingly, starting from the beginning of the year to the end. Zacharias served the 8th term of the year, which was around the time of early July.

3. Christ's age difference to John the Baptist[/h]The angel appeared unto Zacharias during his ministration to let him know his wife will bear him a son.

Luke 1:13
But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.

Elisabeth became pregnant after her husband Zacharias executed his term as priest. In the 6th month the Angel appeared unto Mary to also give her a message …

Matthew 15:9King James Version (KJV)

9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
Here's a summary of all materials mentioned above.

The calendar used in the Bible starts around Spring time which is in the time period of late March to early April.

Knowing when the Biblical year starts, we see how King David divided up the priests office during his time. When Zacharias became priest, he served in the stead or in the same month of Abija (or Abia - which is called in the New Testament). This month was around early July (being the late 4th month of the Bible calendar).

Mary became pregnant 6 months after John was conceived. This will make Jesus 6 months younger than John the Baptist. Six months after John was conceived will be around the time of early January (being the late 10th month in the Bible calendar).

A normal pregnancy will last for 9 months. Nine months after Jesus was conceived will be around the time of early October (being the late 7th month in the Bible calendar).

Our modern day calendar is not accurate because of so many modifications, but it gives us an idea of the time when JESUS was born, which was around October.

ELECT: Please notice the title of this thread. Also please notice the first post. This thread was made for people who DO NOT WANT your anti-Christmas junk. You have plenty of threads in the Bible Discussions forum (13 or 14 since last December alone) to preach against Christmas with your spurious and out-of-context Bible references. Please go away and leave this thread for those who like Christmas.

I mean really, can't we have just ONE thread unsullied? Is that too much to ask?

Yay for eggnog!

And just say Merry ChristmaHannaKwansAgnostic. That gets all the winter celebrations in.

Or if you can't remember that, just say Have a happy non-denominational winter season. And be sure to keep a politically correct half-smile on your face when you say it.

Attention anti-Christmas haters! Go help someone in need. Get a hobby. Get a life! :D

Do something to lift people up in the name of Jesus, amen.

1 John 3:17

"But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him?"

So, as I'm listening to numerous songs proclaiming the Savior's birth (actually using the names Jesus and Christ, which is pretty much illegal nowadays in the media); and seeing all the lights that proclaim the light that has come into the world; and witnessing endless public manger scenes depicting the Savior's birth; and spending quality time with friends and family celebrating the birth of our redeemer... I had only one thought -

Yeah it's time to give up this worthless heathen pagan holiday

NOT!!!

God bless you all! Can't wait till next year when we get to do this alllllll over again!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas, brothers and sisters! Especially to those who believe Christmas is of the Enemy. Jesus Christ loves you too. He came to earth as a God/man and died and rose to bring you a new, abundant life and FREEDOM in Him!

Not freedom to sin, but freedom from sin...which is what His name means:

"And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins." (Matthew 1:21)

I'm not talking about freedom to sin, that's a silly assumption. I'm talking about freedom to live in Christ, to really live?
What is it with you guys always going for exaggeration or the worst case scenario all of the time?
Some people here have questioned our salvation because we celebrate Christ's birth. And then they wonder why we're peeved!

What is it with US?

Perhaps it would be best if you asked that same question of yourself first. I mean, after all, you did recently say:

tintin said:

Now, c'mon...what were YOU implying there by singling out "those who believe Christmas is of the enemy" and by then telling them that "Jesus Christ loves you too", as if they're somehow ignorant of the same, and by continuing on to tell them what Jesus accomplished for them, again, as if they're presently ignorant of the same? You wouldn't consider THAT to be a "worst case scenario", would you? I mean, for crying out loud, you basically implied that they don't know either Christ or the gospel, didn't you?

Anyhow, my "abundant life" in Christ doesn't include the right to sin against the knowledge of Him and His Word which I currently possess (my so-called "silly assumption"). Granted, we're all at different stages and we haven't all necessarily the same amount of knowledge in relation to different topics, but we do all share one commonality, namely this:

We're all called to be obedient to whatever it is that the Lord has revealed unto us.

Look, hopefully (I'm kind of juggling too many things at once right now), some time in the next day or two, I'm going to start a thread which will add another whole dimension to this current debate. Yes, the Lord helping me, I want to address how the church has repeatedly embraced "counterfeits" or "substitutes" throughout her history in relation to "times" and "dates" and how I believe that the same is the work of the spirit of antichrist. IOW, we're constantly being conditioned to accept that which isn't even true and the same could ultimately lead to people receiving the ultimate "counterfeit", the antichrist himself.

Now, granted, seeing how you only have what I just said to go on, I wouldn't blame you, quite frankly, if you thought to yourself, "What the heck is he going on about?". However, at the same time, I honestly believe that if I do manage to start the aforementioned thread and if you read what is contained therein, then what now may seem as a totally off the wall comment will ultimately make a lot of sense to you. Anyhow, just please withhold your judgment until I've had the chance to actually present my case FROM SCRIPTURE. Thanks. In the interim, you'd do your own self well to stop insinuating that those who don't celebrate "Christ Mass" don't even know the Lord.
