God has one penalty for sin. It applies to any and all sin. Romanism created the false doctrine of mortal and venial sins to support their teaching regarding purgatory and to make it feasible to sell indulgences.

Gods standard is absolute perfection and any sin no matter how insignificant it seems to us it is an affront to Gods holiness.

No because there is 1 sin that God won't forgive.

Matthew 12:32
And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.
Some people get mad at GOD and might say something bad but a person that has totally rejected GOD In their heart would not care AT all.
So then that's unforgivable because that person has rejected GOD In their heart and not just temporarily.
But the verse doesn't say reject, it says "speak against" the Holy Spirit. I haven't rejected God and the unclean spirits that are temporarily allowed to influence the world would do anything to get me to blaspheme against the Holy Spirit.
GOD Is a SPIRIT and must be worshiped,HIS SPIRIT to our spirit, our spirit to HIS SPIRIT and HE must be worshiped In TRUTH.

The verse says speak against but that's talking about speak against at the heart level, meaning,a person REALLY feels that way.
A person that really feels that way,It wouldn't matter If they were speaking against GOD after hitting their thumb with a hammer or If they were eating Ice cream, they would not care about GOD.

Matthew 12:32
And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.
So what I'm saying Is,the person has made It So that GOD won't forgive them because they had a choice and they chose to reject GOD when even GOD's creation says there Is a GOD,so then they don't have an excuse.GOD Is just.

They rejected GOD ,(I'm talking about at the heart level)so then they have cause their own self to be rejected.

I've often heard it said that all sins are equal in God's eyes. Where does this idea come from?
The quote sounds like it came from Protestantism. The Scripture states that all unrighteous is sin but there is a sin not unto death(1 John 5:16-17). Since that is the case then there is Scriptural justification for what the Catholic Church calls "mortal sin."

Some people jump to the conclusion that John is talking about believers committing certain sins that lead them to spiritual death, but that does not seem to fit the context:

1 John 5:16 - If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin which does not lead to death, he will ask, and He will give him life for those who commit sin not leading to death. There is sin leading to death. I do not say that he should pray about that. 17 All unrighteousness is sin, and there is sin not leading to death. 18 We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him.

11TIM.3:13.
But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

JOHN 5:14.
After-ward Jesus finds him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, you are made whole:
sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.

Matt. 21:14.
Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests,:

he was just there, NOT 'one of the deciples', I cannot believe that a true child of
God, 'being called and actually serving in super-natural ways, to such a great extent,
not to mention, (actually holding hands and hearts with God/Jesus,(do you think that
they would 'forsake' their Only-TRUE-Love)???

But he is saying that there are some sins that should not be considered as deadly. These sins are called "venial sin" by the Catholic Church.

The Holy Spirit is the spirit of Lord Jesus, so too the spirit of truth, and God is love. So I take it to mean someone who blasphemes against love, not only would they be bearing false witness but they would be puffed up and disrespectful to God.

But the verse doesn't say reject, it says "speak against" the Holy Spirit. I haven't rejected God and the unclean spirits that are temporarily allowed to influence the world would do anything to get me to blaspheme against the Holy Spirit.
how do you blaspheme against love? what does that mean?
