It has to be asked now that two other threads are thriving with all sorts of self-righteous baloney.

Anyone want to dare get on the Arminian bandwagon? (How many people even know who Arminians are? And yet on and on they go with all sorts of baloney about other beliefs.)

Arminianism is based on theological ideas of the Dutch Reformed theologian Jacobus Arminius (1560–1609) and his historic supporters known as the Remonstrants. :p

Oh then for sure they're going to heaven.
But then as a finishing touch God created the Dutch.

Arminian has been dead for 400 some years.. Are there any true arminians even alive today?

I doubt that a man who has been dead for 400 years will have any affect on whether someone gets to heaven..

I thought women were God's crowning creation?

And then, so I've heard, if you ain't Dutch, you ain't much. :)

Well, Luther might have affected a few. And according to some around here, everyone's eternal state depends on King Jimmy. :p

was king jimmy calvanist, or Arminian? or was he Lutheran? Catholic? Listen to some around here, he had to be one of the above, for there is nothing else to chose from.

My maternal grandparents came from Amsterdam back in the very early 20th century. :)

yep.

I rest my case..

No one will go to heaven based on what calvin said..
Soooo... will people who believe along the lines of Arminius or Calvin be part of God's peeps in heaven?

(And, I have to say, at least Calvin's name is easier to spell. Would Arminius have changed his name if he knew there would be a country that sounds like his followers, and yet doesn't spell it the same? Got to say, the other name for those who believe like him is easier to spell.)

I do not know of any actual people who follow word for word what these two men said.

I must ask though. Why do we follow men. and not the bible? Are there no people today who teach the word we can follow? Why do we have to be delegated to men dead for centuries. I never did understand this, and I think this is the cause of much confusion and division in the church.

Frankly, I am, by man's designation, a Calvinist because I understand the purpose and history of the doctrines. The real doctrines vs. the whole should women be deacons, or is tongues for today, or is there an age of accountability (although that last one is easily dismissed by doctrine.) They are God's words and prove through his word.

And today? Today everyone is busy reinventing the wheel instead of sticking with the wheel.

So, yeah, I get why follow a man. Otherwise we're stuck thinking we are The Man!

I think we need to do what Paul said.

[SUP]10 [/SUP]Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. [SUP]11 [/SUP]For it has been declared to me concerning you, my brethren, by those of Chloe’s household, that there are contentions among you. [SUP]12 [/SUP]Now I say this, that each of you says, “I am of Paul,” or “I am of Apollos,” or “I am of Cephas,” or “I am of Christ.”

we can insert the names Arminius, calvin, luther and anyone elses name in the text. it would be applicable.

I agree with a lot of calvins doctrines, But many are actually quite sickening, I agree with some of Armenians points. But others may lead people to hell.

I think it is better to stick with the word. and not men.. We would have less arguments. and less finger pointing, or people saying, I know what you believe, when in reality, they have no Idea
