There certainly is a high priesthood currently on earth, and it is those with access to the holiest of all. If you are the world...you are still required to give no less than ten percent. The requirement of tithe still applies to those who have inheritance in the land.

God loves a cheerful giver , so just give what you can to help others.
But don't make it a law. No one says 10 percent has to go to your pastor, even the old law says give the percentage "to God". So give it as He leads, to the poor and needy, to a Christian institution, etc.

Lord Jesus gives us another example of this in Matthew 25:31-46, when He separates the sheep from the goats. He tells them because you have done for others, you have done for Me (These get eternal life). Then He tells the goats because they did not do for others, they did not do for Him (These go to eternal punishment).
oh, honey, i think you have that backwards.

we do for others because God in Christ has already given us eternal life.
it's the fruit of righteousness, not the root of it.

you notice the King has already separated His sheep from the goats before He says a word. ♥

Yes but this is a picture at judgment, not what has already transpired.
Matthew 25:31-32 shows this gathering together and then separating the sheep from the goats comes at His return. Those who live life refusing to do for others, is denying the Lord's commandment of love and therefore do not get eternal life. Those who do obey His command of love and help others go on to eternal life.
The words used for belief (believe) and to salvation are the Greek words pisteuo and echo. When used together as they are it means a continuation of belief leading to something, and that you have assurance of receiving eternal life/salvation as right now it is a mental possession in your hand. Not a physical one.......

I'm going to give my input feel free to school me if the Bible contradicts me:

No I do not think we are supposed to tithe by any means. We are not required to do anything but love God and love people in accordance with the truth in the Scriptures. If you feel obligated to tithe for any reason but love, or if you feel anything other than joy about tithing than what is the point? Our motivation for everything, as we become more and more conformed to Christ should be love.

We don't need to worry about keeping the 10 commandments, because if we truly love as God loves, we won't desire to break the 10 commandments. You hear alot of people saying things like "Oh, if you give just 10% in faith, God will open the floodgates of heaven and you will receive 10 fold back". - So basically it's like some pyramid scheme? Where's the love in that?

Give as you feel moved to give out of love. We are called to give, but I'd say don't do it out of a blind sense of duty. That would just make me resentful towards the whole thing.

If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. [SUP]2 [/SUP]If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. [SUP]3 [/SUP]And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body [SUP][a][/SUP]to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing. [SUP]4 [/SUP]Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, [SUP]5 [/SUP]does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, [SUP]6 [/SUP]does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; [SUP]7 [/SUP][SUP][b][/SUP]bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Yes, when you have pity on the poor you lend to the LORD

Prov 19:17 He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.

Whereas it says, that he will pay him again, it says this also when we consider the poor

Psalam 41:1 Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.

Just as it says here...

Duet 15:7
If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother:

Duet 15:8 But thou shalt open thine hand wide unto him, and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wanteth.

This part here...

Duet 15:10
Thou shalt surely give him, and thine heart shall not be grieved when thou givest unto him: because that for this thing the LORD thy God shall bless thee in all thy works, and in all that thou puttest thine hand unto.

So as you posted, God loves a cheerful giver, God says right there, that thine heart shall not be grieved when thou givest unto him, and that for this thing you will be blessed (as its more blessed to give then to receive). But it does say that he that lendeth to the poor does so as to the LORD and that he would repay and even in considering the poor he would deliver them out of a time of trouble.

I think thats just so beaituful really, I love that, that just shows how great God is, how good he is, I just really love that

A Christian who receives absolutely no money at all whatsoever is not not obligated to give out of what he has because any percentage of zero is going to be zero. If you have any income, no matter how great or small, you are to give a percentage of that back to God. The percentage is whatever percent you decide in your heart. Those who sow little will reap little, those who sow much will reap much. You give according to how much you prosper and how often you prosper. I only get paid once a month, so I only give once a month. However I try to put at least a dollar in there during the other weeks.

But if say your mother was in need of medical help, you can't say to her, "Sorry this money is for God." You use it to help her. I forgot where this verse is, but I know it's in there. If my son's car breaks down and he needs help otherwise he will lose his job and his home, I would use the money I would have given in church if I had to. Sometimes you have to make judgment calls. God knows the thoughts and intentions of each soul, and only He is judge.

I have been in the hole and will be until April. I wish I could give more in church, but things are so tight. Does anyone know how I can legitimately make more more at home or online?

Will they be cursed if they don't?

Please provide biblical support for your answer.
I have not figured out how tithing to a religious organization can be considered tithing, the Priest is in the heavens, Yahshua (Jesus) the High Priest after the order of Melchizedek, and any "priests" "pastors" etc, on earth are just pretending, Messiah said we are all brothers and He is the Shepherd. I think giving to those that cant protect them selves is the way to go.

John (Yahchanan) 10:16, "And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to My voice. So there will be one flock, one Shepherd (4166. poimén)."

false teachers (Robert Morris) say things like:

"Don't give the first portion [of your income] to the mortgage company because the mortgage company does not have the power to bless your finances. Only God does. Don't give the first portion to the electric company, the electric company cannot bless your finances, only God can. Would you rather live with 100% of your income and all of it cursed, or 90% of your income and all of it blessed. That's what the Bible says."

the bible doesn't say that. tithing was for levites. christians give offerings for the church to cover overhead (the buildings we meet in), carry out the great commission (bibles/travel etc), and to help the needy in the body of Christ, and the poor of the community and the world.

Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 corintihians-9

Malachi 3
9"You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing Me, the whole nation of you! 10"Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this," says the LORD of hosts, "if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows.

And now, brothers and sisters, we want you to know about the grace that God has given the Macedonian churches. In the midst of a very severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability.
Entirely on their own, they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the Lord’s people. And they exceeded our expectations: They gave themselves first of all to the Lord, and then by the will of God also to us. So we urged Titus, just as he had earlier made a beginning, to bring also to completion this act of grace on your part. But since you excel in everything — in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you — see that you also excel in this grace of giving.

I am not commanding you, but I want to test the sincerity of your love by comparing it with the earnestness of others.
(2 Corinthians 8:1-8)

Would just like to add that this is one area God asks us to test Him as He will open the windows of heaven and pour out a blessing until it overflows.....Just my own personal experience is that when I give to the Lord I have never been able to out give Him. He has always made sure this orphaned - single mother had food in the pantry and bills paid. Was it tight sometimes yes, but God asks us to live by faith and to learn to trust in Him and believe me there have been many times I look at the bills needing to be paid and paying tithe and wondering how it was going to work and by the end of the month the bills were paid and we never went hungry and I was always amazed......God is good and He blesses and loves a cheerful giver.

Who did Jesus point out at the temple giving offerings? Was it the rich giving bags of money? No It was the widow putting in two mites because she gave all she had to the Lord. She was taken care of by God and Jesus gave her notice on her cheerful giving of everything she had.

Most times tithing is used to further God's work and we want to selfishly hold on to His money, because in reality everything we have belongs to God, He just lets us borrow it to see what we will do with it. Then I ask myself this question - Selfish much? Do you have enough money to buy that pretty purse? Then toss a dollar in the collection plate begrudging it because you wanted something else. Possibly a large screen TV to watch a Super Bowl game? But then God doesn't need our money does He? Maybe not...... But that missionary does, that single mom might, that older gentleman trying to buy meds or food might too. Tithes and offerings aren't really the issue here. But selfishness is. Trust God much?
