Yeah I know what you mean I use to be addicted to video games when I was young that addiction has passed while I still love video games I play in moderation. I always find time to do other things and spend time with my family thankfully all my addictions have settled down with age.

Actually, no, you're not. You're in a thread where someone asked if there were any bible based video games. You have just hijacked his thread to turn it into a debate thread whereby, as is the norm for you, you have to find something to criticize and turn a non-debate thread into a debate. You seem to gain great pleasure in causing dissension wherever you go, and always in the name of God, ironically.
Actually, it is not off topic. Video games, by their very nature of goals for each game, time spent, addiction potential, are opposed to what God tells us to have as our goals. There isn't, for instance, even a pretense made of bible based video for this reason. The reason some are seeing this as finding something wrong always is that what God suggests is families and people having fun together with love, and in our world other things are promoted instead.

Wait so playing a game of NBA basketball (what a sin that orange ball is) with my little brother is not family having fun together with love? Its so condemnable of me to play with the homeschooled child with no friends and minimal interests with his autism. Surely God will send me to Hell for that.

That is ridiculous! That is looking at the legalism in listening to God. Are you sharing love? Helping develop talents or helping with isolation in a dark room?

Besides, God only sends unrepentant people who refuse to know Him to hell. If a human says something usually leads away from God, that is NOT saying someone is going to hell much less sinfully saying God will send him there.

Can I recommend Roller Coaster Tycoon 3. There is nothing harmful, sinful or anything else which can be condemned in any religious text. In terms of addictive chemicals, has anyone ever looked into the physiological and physchological effects of people singing or speaking together? There are a range of chemicals that are released which cause a feeling of Belonging and uplifting calm.....sound familiar? ;) P.S Whoever posted Portal 1/2 - i thoroughly approve!!! :D

I've been looking into that game for a while but it seems to always be in beta-like testing and there's seldom anything new about it, from the outside looking in anyway. Have you happened to play it personally?
No I have not played it. Looks like it may not reach beta.

i played over 200 hours of Skyrim. i fail to see how it promotes sex.
want to know what i learned playing that time-sucking monstrosity?

inventory management. that is what you spend all your time doing in Skyrim. gathering resources and putting them to use. i was able to have a lot of constructive & meaningful conversations with my son over the game too, from making ethical choices to the wisdom and strategies of struggle. sex never came up.

the Grand Theft Auto series, on the other hand, i think are brilliant games as 'games' go, but make no bones about celebrating & encouraging wickedness & the main storylines don't let the player avoid engaging in prostitution. i'd never let my son play them. you're picking on the wrong game. if anything, Skyrim is full of demonology. it has nothing to do with gratifying the flesh and everything to do with a lust for the illusion of power.

so Skyrim's not a wholesome game by any means, but you're definitely misrepresenting it.

Yeah, I don't think it's a good idea to openly advertise that here. There's people who are truly struggling with addictions to that sort of thing and it'd be wrong of us to lead them astray.

Just editing it out would be a good idea. I'll edit the quote on my post to remove it from mine as well.
EDIT: Click on 'edit post' and scroll up. you'll see a delete button.

You only have 5 minutes to edit/delete a post. After that it's stuck.
These are long standing rules that they have for a purpose, so no point in requesting it change, in case you were thinking that.
