I agree. There will be no literal Third Temple. Although it is said that the Jews are building a third temple, I'm not sure exactly how truly accurate that is. Christ is the third Temple. God tore that curtain in the Temple to symbolize that there is no longer a separation between Yahweh God and His sheep for a reason.
remember something, It would not matter if the hebrews built three more temples between now and the end of time. No temple ever forgave sin, or was Gods means of forgiveness. So it really does not matter how many temples are built. The means of Grace has ALWAYS been Christ (on the OT God looked forward to Christ, in the NT he looks back) the temples were just symbols.

Scripture does tell us though that the sacrifices will resume, not for sin but ceremonially.

Spiritually the body is the temple of God as He dwells in us through the Holy Spirit. But the temple in Jerusalem will physically be rebuilt IDK if its before or after the rapture. I do know that they have already made all of the utensils that are used in the temple including the Ephod. IDK about the Urim and the Thummin. As of Right know the do have a red heifer which is rare and is to be sacrificed and it ashes used to clean the utensils and the priest.

I look at it this way....right now we possess eternal life and salvation but it has not yet been fully realized (glorified body).....I would view it the same way....we possess this in Christ right now, but it has not been fully recognized and will come to fruition after the 1000 year reign of Christ.....

This is off the hip so I could be wrong or right......!

3Rd or 4th Temple?
I watch JLTV channel 366 Direct T.V. and I watched a very prominent Jewish leader say the following not a week ago....maybe two.....

1. We will drive the Muslims from the temple mount and send the mosque to where it belongs
2. We will build a temple after the manner of Moses' tabernacle or like Solomon's temple

or we will do what is necessary to facilitate the coming down of the temple as described in Ezekiel...

Having said that, I used to get the Jerusalem post and I have read numerous articles that state...

1. The utensils for sacrifice and worship are ready
2. A pure red heifer has been bred for sacrifice
3. The Cohen Priesthood is trained
4. The material for the temple is prepared without hammer or chisel

etc......

So.....what to make of the arguments for a temple or no temple!

I need some interpretative assistance. Let me bounce an idea off of you all. I need to know the theological implications.

Here we go.

Revelation 21 says...

The LORD God the Almighty and the Lamb are the temple.

Are Christians/believers/what ever word you want to use to describe the saved, are they already in the temple considering the fact that the Lamb and the LORD God the Almighty are the temple in Rev 21?

Christians are already described as being in Christ.

Is it a terrible leap in reason to reach that conclusion?
What are the theological implications?
I believe this is referencing the whole body of Christ, the Church, old and new testament saints. We can enjoy the promises of God now in Jesus Christ, for our salvation is made complete in Him.

Ephesians 1
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, 5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, 6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.

Ephesians 2
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

Ephesians 2
Christ Our Cornerstone

19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God,20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, 21in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord,22 in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

We are the temple of God which is being built still, you don't see a literal building as a temple for Christ and His Church is the temple of God. I believe the Temple in Revelation 21 has already come down is still being built, since Paul makes it clear, that those in Christ make up temple of God. But also there will be a reality or a manifestation of the completed temple at Christ second coming. In which I have in my mind a picture, of the Christ and all the saints who passed on from the old earth coming down to met the believers who live just prior to His coming on earth, who were changed in a twinkle of an eye, and meet Christ and the saints who passed away before the second coming in the air. After they meet, the Whole body of completed body of Christ continues on to a renewed or remade earth in which we'll all enjoy Christ in our midst and His new earth and new heavens.

Steve Gregg has an interesting interpretation of this, I've really enjoy the teaching of Steve:

Onestill I did not read all the posts but I would Love to show you where ALL the saved people are and to what STATUS they are made BEFORE THEY ENTERED.....

When Jesus went into the temple and chased all people out he CLEANED the temple of ALL unrighteousness... And he said... this one will be broken down and I will rebuild it in THREE DAYS.... Wow that made them MAD! But did he REBUILD the temple that CANNOT be fouled up again..... Oh yes HE DID!

Here is how He did it... With this prayer Jesus reveal MANY Scripture.... This temple is also called ... /tower / Name / God / Word / Son / Spirit / Father / Truth / Body / Church and they are all the ONE HOLY PLACE ON EARTH... The Temple as you ask....
John 17... And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.
This my man is how Jesus did rebuild the Temple.... Every person that is sanctified through the Truth is made FREE! This little word sanctified means... To be SET APART (made free) BY GOD FOR GOD AND IN GOD.

Onestill, they are all made PERFECTLY one IN GOD. Now where is that ONE HOLY place here on earth? IN GOD! And in HIM IS NO SIN.... WOW the Holy perfect temple here on earth! I so hope to be in there soon! But then the gatekeeper has to let me in 1stil. Jesus also calls it the penn of the sheep. Where all God's sheep go into and teh gatekeeper let them in... that gatekeeper is your conscience.... Only PURE conscience people can enter. I do not have a clear conscience YET! But all the holy and perfect people do have and they are in that CHURCH... This church... I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
Joh 17:24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.
and this one 1still... That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
1still there is NO SIN IN THIS GLORY...

And who is in the people that are IN HIM?... Eph 4...One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
See Father is IN ALL HIS CHILDREN AND THEY IN HIM... Exactly like Jesus asked in JOhn 17... THE TEMPLE IS IN HIM 100% AND HE IN THEM 100%. That is why it is HOLY AND PERFECT and will ALWAYS be holy and perfect, unlike the one MEN BUILD.... God build this one in THREE DAYS.... And still God add to this church DAILY! WOW!

DERAIL, Sorry Still...I can't help it, but to respond, not that Cobus will ever come to the truth (but by God what appears to be impossible is made possible), but for the sake of the weak and contrite of heart.

John 6:37
37 All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out

Luke 5:32
31 Jesus answered and said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. 32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.

Philippians 3:9
9 and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;

Romans 5:1
5 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have[a] peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

....The Just shall live by FAITH (Romans 1:17)

Romans 4:3 - For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness

Romans 4
23 Now it was not written for his sake alone that it was imputed to him, 24
but also for us. It shall be imputed to us who believe in Him who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead, 25 who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification.

Cobus,
Its our 100% faith in the works of Christ that sanctifies us, not our sanctification that sanctifies us..

Yep and where will you get FAITH if you do not hear the TRUTH? Where wil lyou get FAITH is not by hearing the WORD? So you will have NO FAITH if Jesus did not give you TRUTH.

There is not ONE saint that sins. NOT ONE! Sinners are NOT sanctified. God sanctify sinners by making them saints.... Bookie sinners are BEING sanctified, they are not sanctified YET... Saints are sanctified. Saints do not sin, becasue GOD SET THEM APART.... Righteous men are PERFECTED SAINTS...

Bookie here is the process.. Four steps, Step one was done before the earth was made.... God forknew. The other three steps are done here on earth.... Call, Justify/sanctify and glorification...

God call sinner , justify/sanctify to Saint and glorify to perfection (Born of God) Baptism of HIMSELF!

A temple is no longer needed because the tabernacle of God is now with men. He has chosen to live with them (chapter 21 verse 3)

I think in a sense we are, because we are in Christ, but we are not because Revelation, particularly the final chapters, have in view the final consummation when Christ returns, there is a new creation, the old order of things passes away, and God himself will dwell amongst his people, and we will see him face to face. This is pretty typical of New Testament thought - we are already in possession of all the promises of God, of which the Spirit dwelling in us is the guarantee, but we away the final realisation of those promises in the eschatological future.

My two cents........without regard for theological ideology............WE (our hearts) here on this earth, right now, are the Temple in Which The Holy Spirit resides........

It is NO LONGER an earthy/man built temple.......IT IS a Spiritual Temple.........

The Apostle Paul speaks of this again and again, and Jesus spoke of this as well.........I'm going with them

Here is a thought.

The scripture is talking about the city, new Jerusalem.

In the Old Jerusalem God resided in the temple in the city. thus in the new there is no temple because sin no longer exists to separate God from us in any way. So them being the temple indicates that we can go straight to God physically.

Jesus when he came to the earth showed us the Father. it says of Him:

Joh 1:14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us (and we beheld his glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father), full of grace and truth.

That word dwelt in the greek means tabernacled. the word used for the temple in the wilderness with Moses. Jesus speaking of himself said:

Joh 2:19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
Joh 2:20 The Jews therefore said, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou raise it up in three days?
Joh 2:21 But he spake of the temple of his body.

So Jesus was the temple.

The temple is a place to meet God. To me it would seem that this saying in revelation indicates that we will be able to come physically before God without any veils or temple between us as the people could come to Jesus who would not have been able to go in the temple in Jerusalem.

The main difference being that in heaven we will be able to come to God with no hidden glory not like Jesus who though he was the temple on earth his glory was veiled in flesh.

anyway take it or leave it.

blessings.
