It has been our experience when speaking to Atheists, that at one time they were exposed to Jesus Christ, the Bible and the church as a whole. Sadly and this is a true statement most Atheists know the Bible better than some self proclaimed Christians.

We also have encountered Atheists that became that way, because they rejected God due to hurt and offense. I also have encountered many that turned from God due to theistic evolutionists getting inside their head.

Most of the Atheists we have encountered are good, decent and very moral people, but that will not get you to Jesus.

The Atheists we see that are very militant are usually also very strong secular humanists, like Richard Dawkins, the Late Christopher Hitchens, not agnostic secular humanists like Sam Harris.

Militant Atheists like Dawkins also do not believe in the powers of darkness or Satan. That is usually the first way to discern a true Atheist...They do not believe in any spiritual form of authority...and that is the next point. Virtually all Atheists reject authority over their life and by doing so make themselves a god unto themselves.

As CS1 already stated Romans 1 tells us we are all have no excuse because God has made himself known to everyone....

Interesting information. In this case, my friend do not believe in Satan, also.

Hi, dear brethren.

I´ve been thinking about one particular subject, recently. I have friends that define themselves as atheists. They say they don´t believe in God, some even say it´s a nonsense. However, some of them have several values that certainly please God: kindness, humility, desire to help those who need, loyalty, etc.

Every time I can, I share the gospel with them. Some react well, others not so well. I´d love to see them saved!

My questions:
- Does God dwell, somehow, in them, also?
- Could they be potential christians, due to their values?

God bless you!
Anyone can be a Christian, if they choose to be.

Most of the most pleasant, kindest, most giving (and most interesting) people I have known throughout my life have been atheists or agnostics. Doesn't seem right for me to point any finger at them for their views because every time I point a finger at someone, there are three more fingers curled around pointed right back at me.

*shrug*

I can't speak for all atheists, but I personally have no ill will or hatred towards religion or Christianity. I think it does a lot of good and helps a lot of people. I fault no one for believing in it of God. I just don't think its real, believe if you do, pursue yours faith. i encourage it.

When we walk with the Lord, he solves all our problems for us. Sooner or later you would appreciate that.

Well, sin and selfishness are the same thing. The Lord taught us what selfishness is. For example, he taught us that adultery is selfishness.

Right I understand how you perceive them both, and how by your belief they go hand in hand. I just don't think there is such a thing as sin. I think devinley provided guidelines and rules are fake/man made

We all experience many big problems in our lives. Those of us who follow Jesus have someone to solve all our problems for us.

And I think that is great that you and many others have found peace, comfort, community, and confidence in that belief. I encourage you and others who believe the same to pursue that. Those of us who don't believe in God just get that from other aspects of our lives

Life's temptations get people into a lot of trouble. Since you don't believe in sin, you will be blind to that.

Hi, dear brethren.

Thank you for bringing up an excellent point! I've read a lot of posts where people seem to think all atheists are rude, sexually immoral, and evil people. Yes, it's impossible to be righteous without God, but most people who aren't Christian aren't out to constantly harass Christians or hurt others. It's important to remember that anything we do that's not for God is a sin ("...whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." 1 Corinthians 10:31)For the unbeliever, everything is not done for God, so even the best act isn't good. That being said, I think it's a lot worse to steal than to give to charity for the wrong reasons (and the Bible's clear not all sin is equal, even if it's all sin).

God doesn't dwell in those who aren't Christians and those who deny His existence can't be Christians. I'm not sure of any Bible verses that deal with how those who don't know God can behave in good ways, but the best reasoning I have is that the Bible says that God created us in His image and that His invisible attributes are clearly represented in nature. Because we are made in His image (and this is what I think, I'm not sure of any Bible verse that puts in in these words), we are hardwired to imitate Him. This...programming has been hacked by sin, but enough of it exists to keep the world from falling into chaos. Likewise, everyone, even those who deny God's existence sees God's work and attributes; they see His goodness and some part of them wants to imitate their creator. Regardless of whether or not my opinion is correct, the Bible does say no good deed can be done except by what God prepares for us to do. That's talking about Christians, who have Jesus living in them. If a Christian can't do good on one's own, an unbeliever certainly can't. So it's God preventing the world from devolving into complete chaos and preventing believers and unbelievers from becoming the worst possible humans.
