So I was reading about Noah and the flood, and I start seeing it in ways I hadn't seen it before. After the flood is complete, God says that no more will the earth be cursed collectively for man's sake. I started thinking, what did he mean by that? And he told me, that this was the first baptism of the earth, the baptism of water. I go back to when Noah is sending out the birds to see if the waters have abated, and the image that's in my head when I'm reading this is of a person slowly emerging from out of the water while the waters recede from him. So for all those who are part of the kingdom of God, God gives provision of the earth, which has been baptized in water. However, the baptism of water is the first baptism. After all, Jesus says concerning the last days, in those days will I send out my spirit upon all flesh. So, there is a second baptism of the earth coming, the baptism of the Holy Ghost, which is the baptism by fire.

This is part of the ancient understanding. We hardly ever talk about this anymore, though.
