The correct method for baptism is repentance and being totally immersed in the WORD of God. To be Baptized in the the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost is being washed in the WORD of GOD.

WE are to be baptized in his name. The WORD of GOD!
Revelation 19:13 (KJV)
[SUP]13 [/SUP]And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
Ephesians 5:26 (KJV)
[SUP]26 [/SUP]That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
John 15:3 (KJV)
[SUP]3 [/SUP]Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

find out what baptise means first. What does it signify?
How is it related to what salvation requires.
What does it have to do with Jesus death, burial and resurection.
and how does that fit in.

The Father, Son, and Holyspirit are all necessary and active in this, and its called
the new birth, or being born again, or saved.

Then.....you will know.

bahamas:

Please let me repost what I did earlier.

To add to this to be baptized is to be washed. We are washed in the WORD of God.

This is the passage you are speaking of.
Matthew 28:19-20 (KJV)
[SUP]19 [/SUP]Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
[SUP]20 [/SUP]Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
They were told to go and teach all nations, washing them in the Name (WORD of GOD) Teaching them what they were commanded by Christ. To know what Christ taught them we have to study that subject specificly.

Yes ok they are titles, but they are also names. Jesus called His Father by name. He called Him Father.

what his the saving name? are u saying that the name jesus christ is not important for baptism.besides in the bible thats how the aposles baptiz. acts 2:38.
Acts 2:38 (KJV)
[SUP]38 [/SUP]Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

John was preaching repentance for the remission of sins. So for Peter to say Repent and be baptized is just that. Repent (turn from your wicked sinful life) and be made clean.
Mark 1:4 (KJV)
[SUP]4 [/SUP]John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.

Luke 3:3 (KJV)
[SUP]3 [/SUP]And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins;

It is through Jesus Christ that we gain this remission of sin through his shed blood.
Matthew 26:28 (KJV)
[SUP]28 [/SUP]For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Example of water baptism doing nothing for the remission of sin or making you clean before God.
Acts 19:1-5 (KJV)
[SUP]1 [/SUP]And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,
[SUP]2 [/SUP]He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.
[SUP]4 [/SUP]Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

Paul asked them "since ye believed" not since you were baptized with water! This is why he asked them "Unto what then were ye baptized?" assuming they were washed in the Word of God "since the believed"

Then when they heard Paul speak those things they were baptized (washed) in the name (Word) of the Lord Jesus.
It was not till they were immersed in the Word of God that they were cleased (baptized).

Yes Jesus did call him Father. What do you call your earthly father? Father, Daddy, Dad, Pappa, Pops, .............. Is that his name? Those are titles.

so what was jesus saying then?cuz he said we should do it like that
what Jesus was saying was "in the name" is what the name represents, who is the Father and what
relationship do we have with Him. "in the name" of the Son, what does that represent and what has He
done in relationship to man, and said to us. Same with the Holyspirit.

"in the name" means all that the name represents.

The Father draws us to salvation.
The Son made the provision for us to be saved.
The Holyspirit brings our new birth to pass and indwells us.

When we believe the gospel we die with Christ we are buried with Him and then
raised to new life......that is baptised in the name of the Father the Son and the Holyspirit.

We see that the LORD referred to himself as I AM! But do we call him I AM? No! Just like you don't call your earthly father by his given name. (Bob, Joe, Mike, Sam, etc. what every it may be)
