Rom 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
Rom 6:5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
Rom 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
Col 2:12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
Col 2:13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses.
1Pe 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
1Pe 3:19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
1Pe 3:20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
1Pe 3:21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The Bible says that baptism does save us,not by the washing of the flesh,but a good conscience toward God.
Some people think baptism is not necessary for salvation,but it appears that we have to identify with the man Christ Jesus,which the sins of the world were placed on Him,and He died,was buried,and was resurrected,and we have to do all 3 by repenting of our sins,and being baptized,which is for the remission of sins,and receiving the Holy Spirit.
Mat 3:13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.
Mat 3:14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?
Mat 3:15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.
Mat 3:16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
Mat 3:17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
John knew that Jesus did not need to be baptized unto repentance,for He is sinless,but Jesus said it had to be done to fulfill all righteousness.If Jesus was baptized,who was sinless,and did not need to be baptized,except to fulfill righteousness,then who are we to think we do not need to be baptized,or it is not important,especially when we are sinners,and it is for the washing away of sins.
We have to identify with the man Christ Jesus,by the 3 things He went through,by repenting of our sins,being baptized in water,which we are baptized into His death,when He laid down the sins of the world,and receive the Spirit,resurrect to newness of life.
