I believe it was worldwide. For GOD made a promise by making a bow appear for remembrance never to flood the whole earth again. We know today there are many floods upon the earth in many regions but never again the whole earth.

Blessings!!!!!!!

Strictly speaking, God's promise was never to destroy all flesh by a flood. That is a somewhat different promise.

But it won't do you any harm to believe in a worldwide flood, even if there are good grounds Biblically for thinking otherwise.

lets see what the word of God says

Gen 7 - [SUP]8 [/SUP]The waters prevailed and greatly increased on the earth, and the ark moved about on the surface of the waters. [SUP]19 [/SUP]And the waters prevailed exceedingly on the earth, and all the high hills under the whole heaven were covered. [SUP]20 [/SUP]The waters prevailed fifteen cubits upward, and the mountains were covered. [SUP]21 [/SUP]And all flesh died that moved on the earth: birds and cattle and beasts and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, and every man. [SUP]22 [/SUP]All in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit[SUP][a][/SUP] of life, all that was on the dry land, died. [SUP]23 [/SUP]So He destroyed all living things which were on the face of the ground: both man and cattle, creeping thing and bird of the air. They were destroyed from the earth. Only Noah and those who were with him in the ark remained alive. [SUP]24 [/SUP]And the waters prevailed on the earth one hundred and fifty days.

15 cubits above the highest mountain. ALL science points, that for this to be possible. the waters would have to cover the whole earth.

Actually there are no grounds for thinking otherwise.

But if you want to think it is local. no skin off anyones back.

LOL as usual you ignore context. I was replying to a question on God' rainbow covenant with Noah. In that covenant His promise was that He would never again destroy all flesh. That is a different thing from saying there would not be a world wide flood.

It's interesting to note that the tallest mountains were pushed up during the continental drift and soon after. So at this point, in the early days of the Flood, the highest mountains would've been much lower than they were post-Flood. The Flood was global.

The Great Flood. Do you believe it was:

1. Local

2. Worldwide

3. An Allegorical Story

Simply curious. Nothing more.
Don't know wasn't there, could have been a written play that found it's way into the Jewish religious text.

Does anyone see a possibility of TWO worldwide floods in the scriptures?
1 Ark/boat is recorded in Genesis (7?), pertaining to the flood.

1 worldwide flood is recorded... Otherwise everything would have died (unless a second Ark miracle occurred)and Original Sin would have been irradiated

1 rainbow sent by God, as a promise to never duplicate such a downpour, one that covers the Earth.

So, thinking about the whole Earth being flooded... Did the water rise just above Everest level? I know the bible does not say. Just a thought. A bowl and cup have clearly marked boundaries and liquid takes that shape, until it supersaturates. At that point, the "water" flows down the sides and spills... But there is "dry land" eventually. But the earth, how did it hold the highest flood ever? And... Is there a point when the water would freeze, as a mountain-high mass? (I think of ice fishing, where the top layer is ice and the lower levels are water.

disclaimer: not smart in any science... So I could be way off in my logic. :)

The Himalayas etc. were formed by the continental drift during the Great Flood. So the highest mountains wouldn't have formed until the latter parts of the Flood or very early post-Flood. It would've been a traumatic time.

and all the high hills under the whole heaven were covered. [SUP]20 [/SUP]The waters prevailed fifteen cubits upward, and the mountains were covered.

The description is written from the writer's viewpoint, no doubt citing the tradition that had come down. Thus it signifies that as far as Noah could see all that he could see was water. Furthermore the fifteen cubits indicates that the Ark was able to clear the tops of all mountains without grounding.

Whilst it was clearly a huge flood, and reached far enough to destroy all mankind, there is absolutely no reason why it should have been worldwide.
