I was replying to your point that the law does not teach. It clearly does and did for those who lived before Jesus came and does for us before we come to Christ.

I agree that Jesus replaces the law on stone for those who believe on Him.

I am not under law but under Grace maybe on this part we just have different ways of wording it.

The law shows sin by showing righteousness.

Psa 119:172 My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments are righteousness.

Rom 7:12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

that word "Just" can be translated right short for righteous.

The law is not sin but rather shows what is right so that sin appears wrong as it is.

Rom 7:13 Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.

The law is righteous and good.

So If we by the grace of God are made good and righteous then we will be by def ult keeping the law. So I agree it was given to show us our need of Christ but it does that by showing what is good and right and thus clearly showing us that we are sinful and wrong.

I like what you said About David and God teaching them I agree with that.

As I said above the letter does show what is righteous, It does not show how to be righteous. Jesus does that as God did for David.

It seems that our disagreement is more in the way we word things than anything. Sounds to me from this last post of yours that we are more in agreement.

blessings.

yes, it sounds like we misunderstood each other.

Why is there a misunderstanding about how we keep the law? When we accept Christ as our Savior we receive the HS, That makes a difference in all parts of our life, our understanding, actions, and what we do as we give ourselves over to this leading. We agree this HS is of God, so of course God's laws would be included in the whole package. What we don't seem to agree on is what can be eliminated from the whole of God. I don't see how some can say that parts of God's word can be eliminated and still follow God?

Even when Christ became the lamb of God, and we were not to use animal blood any more, it was a big change but blood was not eliminated. In spirit and truth, as we are to read scripture as well as see the literal of scripture, nothing is eliminated, only changed. It was still blood. Anyone who reads scripture only literally, knows nothing about what scripture says, but those who read it without including any of the literal also are not reading it correctly. God eliminated nothing He said God is truth and the same always.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

God said that He made human beings in His “image” and “likeness.”
“Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it does not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is

King David also understood this a thousand years earlier when he wrote: “As for me, I will behold Your face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with Your likeness”

[SUP]19 [/SUP]And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. [SUP]20 [/SUP]And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

Do you notice a theme here? Any feedback would be appreciated in explaining "foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests". Because the way I see it is that foxes are in burrows to reproduce, as birds use nests for the same purpose ..to produce a "likeness" of themselves, they don't just hang out there daily, as we tend to do with homes.

He goes on to say He has no place to lay His head...I think He's saying it is not yet time for Him to gather His children. any thoughts would be appreciated.

Point being, My understanding is He forgives the repentant, and then we go on to become more and more like Him. He is the author and finisher, but until that time we breath our last our journey must be transformative, ever changing into His image.

Also consider, has any man made government worked in harmony? There must be cause and effect in the natural, and only the government of God is perfect and everlasting.
opens my eyes?

you need to open yours.

If the schoolmaster as paul said was ONLY to lead us to Christ, and once we came to him, we no longer are in need of a schoolmaster.

Then your whole theory falls on its face.

The schoolmaster takes yuo ny the hand, Guides you and directs you to a point where his job is to bring you, whether that be teaching, guidling or directing.

Once the task of that schoolmaster is complete. Your given to another teacher, or another school, or another tutor..

If you still think your under law. Your still following the schoolmaster. and evidenly have not found Christ.
for as yuo said you think it shows you how to be righteous. That was not its purpose. It was given to show you why Christ had to die for your sin, and why you need to trust him.

As for your proof. The same david understood that sacrifice and burnt offering God did not desire to forgive him his sin, He understood what Abraham and every person before the law understood. It is our heart attitude which sins. Not the letter of the law. The law did not teach them that, It could not. It was the relationship with God which taught them that.

the letter was given to prove we are sinners. Not to show us how to be righteous. If it could teach us to be righteous, then why do we need to be born again and given the power of God to do good? they law would do it for us??

From an Oxyrhynchus papyrus we learn of the custom of committing a boy to the care of a trusted slave who conducted the boy to school and watched over his conduct until he became an adult. This was the paidagwgo/j to which Paul refers in Galatians 3:24. The KJV translates the word as "schoolmaster." However, rather than being the teacher, he was the person who took the boy to the teacher.

Obviously, the "teacher" is Messiah.

I came under conviction and believed upon the Lord when I was 19 years old. Up to that point in time there were issues in my life that concerned me but I never knew just how wicked and deceitful the human heart was until after I got saved. The more light that God shed on my heart the more I became convicted of the wickedness of my heart. When we get saved God never eradicates the heart or the sin nature within. We have it and God deals with it through the cross, through the life of the Spirit and through the light of His word. Keeping the law has absolutely nothing to do with how God works in our life. I have a wicked heart and I am never going to be able to change that by keeping the law. I can not restrain my heart by keeping the law and if I try I only strengthen sin in me. There is only one solution for a wicked heart and it is the cross and being filled with the Spirit. The heart is so deceitful and desperately wicked that we can't even know just how wicked it really is.

The heart is capable of every conceivable wickedness and God knows it. Keeping the law has no effect upon a wicked heart no matter how hard you try to keep it or any of the commandments. Trying to keep the law to compensate for a wicked heart that wanders into sin operates the opposite of what we are striving for. It strengthens sin instead of keeps us from it. Those who strive after the law do it to keep themselves from sin and it has the opposite effect. When sin abounds God does not instruct us through the Spirit to do a better job at keeping the law, He makes grace abound that much more. He does not want us to try harder, he wants us to give up striving after the law or being better and come to Him so that we can find rest from our sin.

Everyone tells us to repent, repent, repent from sin and Christ says come to me all you who are heavy ladened with sin and I will give you rest for your soul. God knows that we have a problem with sin because of our wicked heart and He makes grace abound toward us that we would come to Him. Isn't it better when we are having problems with sin to come to Him instead of going to the law? I think it pleases Him so much when we come to Him with our weaknesses and troubles with sin that He is glorified when we do so. He is not interested with us going to the law but to come to Him and to His throne to obtain mercy and find grace to help in the time of need.

Please, those of you who would come back and respond to this post with the law, don't ruin it for those who humble themselves before the mighty hand of God to receive grace. Let them grow in grace and knowledge of knowing the God of all grace and the Father of all mercies. Let people find grace and have Christ as their head. Let them have a relationship with Christ through grace and truth and not the law. Let them take up a cross so that they can say for them to live is Christ and by faith in the Son who died for them, for Christ is the end of the law to everyone that believes.

I must apologize again, I was wrong on the schoolmaster thing. I used the English translation which Karraster brought up so I looked it up. I was wrong and you were right.

Praise God it is good to find truth.

But doing our best to keep the law has a lot to do with God working in your life. By your own admission, when God came into your heart you let God lead you to the law. The more God led you and took over your heart the more you accepted the law as you lived your life and made it a part of your life.

Christ in our life IS the law in our life. It is part and partial of God, it is freedom, it is abundance, it is love. It is the HS made manifest. Repentance is part of freeing us from the bondage of sin.

That is true. Now we have something better than the law, The lawgiver. The life of Jesus here on earth is a true fulfillment of the law as God intends. If we see the law as only "Thou shalt not" we are looking at it incorrectly. We need to look at the law in the life of Christ.

I am very GLAD to print this post of yours, it is RIGHT ON ! Thanks. Love Hoffco ps I want to make a preaching tour with my wife this next year, or sooner. Much has to happen to make it a reality. But, I would love to meet you and preach in the Churches you go to. May God make it a reality.! This is also true of you others who agree with me, you know who you are.
How I would love to meet you and explore your ministry. What stories you have to tell.

I am self taught, my minister and I love each other, but we do not agree. I had to go to bed because of my leg, so all my time was spent listening and reading in God's word and the history of the people God used to tell of His word.

You all are missing a key truth of God's holy WORD, His LAW. It was given to cleanse a sinner of his evil ways. Please be more careful.! Psa.119:1-16 verses 9-10 "How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your words. With my whole heart I have sought You; oh, let me not wander from Your commandments!" We are to do the same today, We are to order our lives according to all the New Testament. Rom. 7 teach us that Paul loved the WORD of God, laws of God and keep the commands of Jesus with his whole heart.

What say you about Peter walking on water? (Matt. 14:22-33). When Jesus (the rabbi/teacher) walked on water, Peter (the talmid/student) wanted to be like him. Do you think Peter had walked on water before or have even imagined doing so. However, if the teacher, who chose me because he believed I could be like him, can do it so must I, and he did! It was a miracle that he walked on water like the rabbi! And then...he doubted. Doubted what I wonder? Traditionally we have seen he doubted Jesus' power. Possibly, but Jesus was still standing on the water. Did Peter doubted himself, or maybe better his capacity to be empowered by Jesus? Does Jesus response "why did you doubt?" (14:31) mean "why did you doubt I could empower you to be like me?" I think so.
That is a crucial message for the talmid/student/follower of today. We must believe that Jesus calls us to be disciples because he knows he can so instruct, empower, and fill us with his Spirit that we can be like him (at least in our actions). We must believe in ourselves! Otherwise we will doubt that he can use us and as a result we will not be like him. This my friend, is Faith. Now why in the world would we hide this under a bushel?

Yeshua is the Gate of the enemies of Israel. The Good Shepherd gathered His other flock (Gentiles) to be with the original flock (Jews cum Israel). If Gentiles enter through the Gate they become one with those witing, Israel. If we be that other flock, we are brought together with the original flock, Jew. No, we need not call ourselves anything other than of the faith of Abraham having come to Yeshua, however we are the same people of Yahweh, God, because of having associated ourselves with them in the faith of Abraham. Gentiles are no longer Gentiles. This rings true in the law, the writings, the prophets and the New Testament.

To Red Tent, I don't think a Gentile ever became a Jew. They became a "GOD fearing person" or a proselyte to Judaism. By faith in Christ we are the "seed"of Abraham. I enjoyed your "story" and I learn from them, thanks. . Love to all, Hoffco

The law is Holy holy holy holy.

Let me try this again

The
law
is
holy
the
law
is
holy
righteous
and
good
righteous
and
good
righteous
and
good. so then the law is Good [COLOR=#0000FF !important]Romans[/COLOR] 7:12 So then, the Law is holy, and the commandment is holy and righteous and good.

It was Jesus who said he was not under any law,,, not you not i but Jesus said this.
Jesus said this, not you not i, "Jesus". Jesus could say this as he is above the law not you not i but Jesus.
Jesus is above the law and Jesus is God. and we are still under Gods law.
1 Corinthians 9:21 though not being without the law of God but under the law of Christ.

So then what are thees laws of Jesus Christ what is holy about the law, what is righteous and good ? one thing that is good is the law of jesus (God) still stands today yes holy holy holy,
