Greetings Reformedjason,

I mainly use an old Oxford KJV wide margin at our meetings, but also have a small NASB inside the Bible Cover for reference.
At home on my desk I read from an interlinear KJV / RV and this helps to clarify some of the KJV
On my desk I also have a NKJV and an ESV for occasional reference
My computer is also incorporated in my desk and I run an old version of Libronix (3f), and have purchased a number of packages, which have numerous Bible translations. It is possible to select a verse and compare how that verse is translated in the other versions, highlighting the different phrases used.

In a bookshelf in another room I have numerous translations, as I enjoy visiting 2nd hand bookshops and sales (going to a very large book-sale tomorrow dv). A few could be mentioned
NRSV, RSV, Rotherham, NEB, Young’s Literal, William Barclay’s NT, Jerusalem Bible, New Jerusalem Bible, Companion Bible, NIV Study Bible.

Kind regards
Trevor

Maybe one of you bible collectors will be able to help me. I am looking for a particular study bible that I remember my parents having back in the 1980's. The reason I want to find it now is that it had a wonderful history timeline at the back that I have never been able to track down anywhere else.

Here's what the timeline looked like: It had a vertical line for each major nation (Babylon, Egypt, Israel, Hittites, Greece, Rome, etc.) The lines got bigger or smaller depending on the power of the nation. I remember the colors. Egypt was green, Greece was pink, and Rome was purple. It went on for several pages. It looked a bit like this one but simpler:

I think it might have been an RSV bible but I'm not sure. The bible was a bit old at the time so I'm guessing the publication date was in the 1970's or earlier (60's or 50's even?)

If anyone knows which study bible contains this timeline, I would be so happy!

I know I'm going to miss some in my list, so maybe I'll update at home:

Chronological Bible
3 Bible-in-a-year in different versions, one that is chronological
NIV
Amplified
The Message
NKJV
KJV
Parallel Bible that has NIV, NASB, KJV, and NLT
CEV

That's all I can think of right now. :) I tend to use BibleGateway or YouVersion a great deal, that way I have access to most translations. :)

Typically, new editions will have a (lightly or heavily) revised text, but mainly a new edition adds additional notes, annotations, and textual variations from newly discovered/researched Bible manuscripts that may not have been around a year or two prior.

As for Bible collection, I have a lot, mostly historical, and I typically take a different one to church every week.
