The Core of the Christian faith is belief in Jesus Christ as Savior, yet Christians are still divided in the faith by their interpretation of the Word of God. God's Word was written clearly so that those souls who truly want to believe, and will not allow man's preconceived prejudices to block their soul from receiving the true faith, will open their mind and heart and humble themselves to seek guidance like the eunuch

"[SUP]30 [/SUP]So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?”
[SUP]31 [/SUP]And he said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” And he asked Philip to come up and sit with him. Acts 8 30:31 (NJKV)

(This was an Ethiopian man of great authority in charge of all the Queen's treasury, so he was smart and capable yet, still requested guidance to get a clear understanding of what he was reading.)
So in seeking guidance like the Ethiopian they can understand and believe. God's power can work in the confines of man's environment yet still be beyond man's understanding and acceptance of it

[SUP]40 [/SUP]And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.” John 6:40 (NKJV)

Do we see him figuratively in his Word or literally in a real presence where we can see Him each and every day? Perhaps both?

[SUP]19 [/SUP]Go therefore[SUP][c][/SUP] and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,[SUP] 20 [/SUP]teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. Matthew 28:20 (NKJV)

To make disciples they were to baptize and lay hands so that they would receive the Holy Spirit, so why does he say "I am with you always, even to the end of the age"? unless he was speaking of a more physical presence.

54 Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 For My flesh is food indeed,[h] and My blood is drink indeed. 56 He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. 57 As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me. John 6: 54-57 (NKJV)

[SUP]14 [/SUP]Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them, [SUP]15 [/SUP]who, when they had come down, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit. [SUP]16 [/SUP]For as yet He had fallen upon none of them. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. [SUP]17 [/SUP]Then they laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit. Acts 8: 14-17 (NKJV)

Laying of hands is essential to change the physical man into the spiritual man.
A change that is proven (miracles) but not obvious to the common bystander.
If God can change Man using a man. He can change bread and wine using a man. The Priest uses laying of hands to change the bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Christ - a change that is proven* but not obvious to the common bystander

The following article is a testament of the true presence of Jesus in the Eucharist 1 of over 130 Eucharistic miracles that have been recorded:

*Lanciano, Italy 8th Century A.D.

Ancient Anxanum, the city of the Frentanese, has contained for over twelve centuries the first and greatest Eucharistic Miracle of the Catholic Church. This wondrous Event took place in the 8th century A.D. in the little Church of St. Legontian, as a divine response to a Basilian monk's doubt about Jesus' Real Presence in the Eucharist.
During Holy Mass, after the two-fold consecration, the host was changed into live Flesh and the wine was changed into live Blood, which coagulated into five globules, irregular and differing in shape and size.
The Host-Flesh, as can be very distinctly observed today, has the same dimensions as the large host used today in the Latin church; it is light brown and appears rose-colored when lighted from the back.
The Blood is coagulated and has an earthy color resembling the yellow of ochre.
Various ecclesiastical investigation ("Recognitions") were conducted since 1574.
In 1970-'71 and taken up again partly in 1981 there took place a scientific investigation by the most illustrious scientist Prof. Odoardo Linoli, eminent Professor in Anatomy and Pathological Histology and in Chemistry and Clinical Microscopy. He was assisted by Prof. Ruggero Bertelli of the University of Siena.
The analyses were conducted with absolute and unquestionable scientific precision and they were documented with a series of microscopic photographs.
These analyses sustained the following conclusions:

  • The Flesh is real Flesh. The Blood is real Blood.
  • The Flesh and the Blood belong to the human species.
  • The Flesh consists of the muscular tissue of the heart.
  • In the Flesh we see present in section: the myocardium, the endocardium, the vagus nerve and also the left ventricle of the heart for the large thickness of the myocardium.
  • The Flesh is a "HEART" complete in its essential structure.
  • The Flesh and the Blood have the same blood-type: AB (Blood-type identical to that which Prof. Baima Bollone uncovered in the Holy Shroud of Turin).
  • In the Blood there were found proteins in the same normal proportions (percentage-wise) as are found in the sero-proteic make-up of the fresh normal blood.
  • In the Blood there were also found these minerals: chlorides, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, sodium and calcium.
  • The preservation of the Flesh and of the Blood, which were left in their natural state for twelve centuries and exposed to the action of atmospheric and biological agents, remains an extraordinary phenomenon

Real Presence Eucharistic Education and Adoration Association

When two people are together and very much in love, often one will say to the other (and truly mean it) "I wish I could give you a piece of my heart" Only real love can inspire those words, a love that comes from God to imitate his Love, but we don't possess the power to bring about that desire. God does have that power and gives us not a piece, but His whole heart in the Eucharist to be taken into the temple of our body and with our weak faith slowly change us to be more like Him.

".... I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen. Matthew 28:20 (NKJV)

[SUP]40 [/SUP]And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.” John 6:40 (NKJV)

Just about everyone on earth has seen, a picture of a catholic Priest holding up the consecrated Eucharist, watched a Catholic Mass on television or perhaps attended a catholic or orthodox Mass and there before them they See the Son the physical presence of Jesus.

Quite often when receiving the Eucharist, (Jesus whole heart) it breaks in half on the tongue, as we, as sinners, break the heart of Jesus by our sinfulness. We are never perfect, but we must try to be free from sin to receive him. That's why he said to his disciples after the resurrection:

[SUP]21 [/SUP]So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” [SUP]22 [/SUP]And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. [SUP]23 [/SUP]If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.” John 20:21-23 (NKJV)

We are constantly sinning, so Jesus gave us the grace of confession so that we could receive Him worthily, also, at the beginning of Mass we say the Penitential Act to confess that we are sinners for remission of any venial sins (small sins we may have committed between confession and Mass).

[SUP]19 [/SUP]Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? [SUP]20 [/SUP]For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body[SUP][a][/SUP] and in your spirit, which are God’s. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NKJV)

Since we are the temple of the Holy Spirit, shouldn't we have an altar before us

[ Dimensions of the Inner Court and Vestibule ] And he measured the court, one hundred cubits long and one hundred cubits wide, foursquare. The altar was in front of the temple. Ezekiel 40:47 (NKJV)

Throughout the Old Testament God always required a living sacrifice. Not a symbolic sacrifice.

[SUP]16 [/SUP]and the priest shall burn them on the altar as food, an offering made by fire for a sweet aroma; all the fat is the Lord’s. Leviticus 3:16 (NKJV)

[SUP]8 [/SUP]And Moses took the blood, sprinkled it on the people, and said, “This is the blood of the covenant which the Lord has made with you according to all these words.” Exodus 24 8 (NKJV)

[SUP]28 [/SUP]For this is My blood of the new[SUP][c][/SUP] covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. Matthew 26 28 (NKJV)

Jesus provides us with a living sacrifice, so that having confessed our sins to an authority
he provides (A Priest) we can wash ourselves clean by His true blood. Jesus is the perfect sacrifice because, unlike the animal sacrifice, He willingly gives Himself up with no ego or self-interest in His heart and mind. A total self-less giving of pure love that never dies, which the animal could never provide. The animal could only provide a physical nourishment whereas Jesus provides a Spiritual nourishment. Truly the Living Word "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us" John 1:14 (NKJV)

Jesus said to them, Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day."
On hearing it, many of his disciples said, This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?

Jesus said to them, “Does this offend you?"
From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him.
- John 6
Because they understood that Jesus was going to His death. They wanted a living Messiah.

To eat flesh and drink blood was a Hebraism for dying. See 2 Sam 23.16-17; Psalm 27.2; 53.4; Micah 3.3; Zech 9.15.

I've always wondered why it requires a hired Hoy Man to turn that bread and drink into flesh and blood. Wasn't Jesus simply talking to regular guys at that supper?

Apostles, i.e. teachers. Those who would lead His church. He instructed them alone in this matter and not the crowds to "Do this in memory of me".

Then that would mean we have changed it to include the common people sitting in the pews, watching the "professionals'"up front, folding the napkins and polishing the gold.

I guess I will never see this as another ritual Jesus added to the ones the professional priests were already performing to the amazement of the pew sitters.

Nice idea, but it fails the test of logical conclusions. By this, we regular Christians can disregard everything which Jesus said only to His disciples, everything Paul wrote to specific persons or groups, and everything God said to individuals or to Israel in the OT. Rather, we believe that "All Scripture is profitable for teaching... so that the man of God may be fully equipped...."

No. It only means Christ was instructing only those who were present (the apostles) on how to prepare the feast for the flock (crowds/followers/disciples) after he was gone/ascended, until he returns.
It's not that complicated guys.

Hebrews 10:11-18

"And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool. For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified. But the Holy Spirit also witnesses to us; for after He had said before, “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,” then He adds, “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.” Now where there is remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin"
