Prov 3
[SUP]5 [/SUP]Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.

Really explains the walk of faith to me.

[SUP]3 [/SUP]The sluggard says, “There is a lion outside!
I shall be killed in the streets!”

Always made me chuckle.

I think the point is some will make any excuse not to work.

Sixteenth chapter of proverbs.

Proverbs 16

To humans belong the plans of the heart,
but from the Lord comes the proper answer of the tongue.

2 All a person’s ways seem pure to them,
but motives are weighed by the Lord.

3 Commit to the Lord whatever you do,
and he will establish your plans.

4 The Lord works out everything to its proper end—
even the wicked for a day of disaster.

5 The Lord detests all the proud of heart.
Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished.

6 Through love and faithfulness sin is atoned for;
through the fear of the Lord evil is avoided.

7 When the Lord takes pleasure in anyone’s way,
he causes their enemies to make peace with them.

8 Better a little with righteousness
than much gain with injustice.

9 In their hearts humans plan their course,
but the Lord establishes their steps.

10 The lips of a king speak as an oracle,
and his mouth does not betray justice.

11 Honest scales and balances belong to the Lord;
all the weights in the bag are of his making.

12 Kings detest wrongdoing,
for a throne is established through righteousness.

13 Kings take pleasure in honest lips;
they value the one who speaks what is right.

14 A king’s wrath is a messenger of death,
but the wise will appease it.

15 When a king’s face brightens, it means life;
his favor is like a rain cloud in spring.

16 How much better to get wisdom than gold,
to get insight rather than silver!

17 The highway of the upright avoids evil;
those who guard their ways preserve their lives.

18 Pride goes before destruction,
a haughty spirit before a fall.

19 Better to be lowly in spirit along with the oppressed
than to share plunder with the proud.

20 Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers,[a]
and blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord.

21 The wise in heart are called discerning,
and gracious words promote instruction.

22 Prudence is a fountain of life to the prudent,
but folly brings punishment to fools.

23 The hearts of the wise make their mouths prudent,
and their lips promote instruction.[c]

24 Gracious words are a honeycomb,
sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.

25 There is a way that appears to be right,
but in the end it leads to death.

26 The appetite of laborers works for them;
their hunger drives them on.

27 A scoundrel plots evil,
and on their lips it is like a scorching fire.

28 A perverse person stirs up conflict,
and a gossip separates close friends.

29 A violent person entices their neighbor
and leads them down a path that is not good.

30 Whoever winks with their eye is plotting perversity;
whoever purses their lips is bent on evil.

31 Gray hair is a crown of splendor;
it is attained in the way of righteousness.

32 Better a patient person than a warrior,
one with self-control than one who takes a city.

33 The lot is cast into the lap,
but its every decision is from the Lord

Jimmydiggs listed this but anyways...

By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.
(Pro 16:6)

Proverbs 2:1-5

2 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;

2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;

3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;

4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;

5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.

I like it because it speaks truth :)

Prov. 21:1
The king's heart is like channels of water in the hand of the LORD; He turns it wherever He wishes.

because God's sovereignty is beautiful and comforting.

Prov. 21:23
He who guards his mouth and his tongue,
Guards his soul from troubles.

because I'm me? :eek:

Proverbs 30

5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.
7 Two things have I required of thee; deny me them not before I die:
8 Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me:
9 Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the Lord? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.
10 Accuse not a servant unto his master, lest he curse thee, and thou be found guilty.

You got mine! God wanted me to learn to trust him more so I used to meditate and study this verse. I studied, and meditated on each word, and still God held me to it. Took over 2 year on just this verse before God allowed me to move on.

It just has incredible meaning! I recently interpreted it from the Hebrew and the meaning has been well translated.

Here is another good one:

"Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain,
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised." Prov. 31:30

I read of a once a week family dinner where, every week, the men chanted most of the 31st chapter of proverbs to their wives. I'll bet there were no divorces in that family, and the late night after dinner was really something.

9Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still;
teach the righteous and they will add to their learning.
10The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,

and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

11For through wisdom[SUP]b[/SUP] your days will be many,

and years will be added to your life.

12If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you;

if you are a mocker, you alone will suffer.

There is power in wisdom given to others, and, that power comes from God, and suffering is going to lead to bad fruits of your mocking others. These proverbs in Chapter 9 tell us that we are to fear God, this is the beginning of becoming wise, this TAKES FAITH, as I see it, and, then, the spirit of God, who LIVES in those who've received Him, through FAITH, is understood.

Profound understanding, here, I think. :) Or, not. For me, it is saying a lot of the power of God unto my life, that the Lord is leading me when I use my gifts given from Him to help others understand Him more, yet so, even those who are wise, to help them understand God and be all the wiser in understanding of His blessings for their life through giving Him glory :)

Proverbs8:22-31 The Lord brought me forth as the first of his works,before his deeds of old;23 was formed long ages ago, at the very beginning, when the world came to be.24 When there were no watery depths, I was given birth,when there were no springs overflowing with water;25 before the mountains were settled in place,before the hills, I was given birth,26 before he made the world or its fields or any of the dust of the earth.27 I was there when he set the heavens in place,when he marked out the horizon on the face of the deep,28 when he established the clouds above and fixed securely the fountains of the deep,29 when he gave the sea its boundary so the waters would not overstep his command,and when he marked out the foundations of the earth.30 Then I was constantly at his side.I was filled with delight day after day,rejoicing always in his presence,31 rejoicing in his whole world and delighting in mankind.

Because Jesus Christ is the wisdom of God personified and it is a beautiful metaphor of one of Gods eternal attributes.

Solomon with his hundreds probably had no divorces either...hard to compute.

Prov 16
22 Good sense is a fountain of life to him who has it,
but the instruction of fools is folly.
