Today, there are many Christian men and women who are showing their nakedness almost on a daily basis - especially during summer - what does the Bible have to say about this?

And thou shalt make them linen breeches to cover their nakedness; from the loins even unto the thighs they shall reach.
Exodus 28:42

Come down, and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon, sit on the ground: there is no throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called tender and delicate.
Take the millstones, and grind meal: uncover thy locks, make bare the leg, uncover the thigh, pass over the rivers.
Thy nakedness shall be uncovered, yea, thy shame shall be seen: I will take vengeance, and I will not meet thee as a man.
Isaiah 47:1-3

Leviticus 18 forbids to show your nakedness to others.

How is it possible that many Christians and even churches ignore these verses? We see many Christians wearing shorts or skirts that are way above knee-length, showing their thigh, which is called nakedness in the Bible. Yet, no one seems to have a problem with the fact that many of them are in 'our' churches. Are we to be compared with this daughter of Babylon who will be judged or are we on God's side? This is a problem that didn't even exist until mid twentieth century, what's going on?!

What are your thoughts on this?

... at that time the LORD spoke through Isaiah son of Amoz. He said to him, "Take off the sackcloth from your body and the sandals from your feet." And he did so, going around stripped and barefoot. Then the LORD said, "Just as my servant Isaiah has gone stripped and barefoot for three years, as a sign and portent against Egypt and Cush, so the king of Assyria will lead away stripped and barefoot the Egyptian captives and Cushite exiles, young and old, with buttocks bared--to Egypt's shame."

Leviticus 18 forbids to show your nakedness to others.
Leviticus 18, Regarding Unlawful Sexual Relations

18 The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘I am the Lord your God. 3 You must not do as they do in Egypt, where you used to live, and you must not do as they do in the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you. Do not follow their practices. 4 You must obey my laws and be careful to follow my decrees. I am the Lord your God. 5 Keep my decrees and laws, for the person who obeys them will live by them. I am the Lord.
6 “‘No one is to approach any close relative to have sexual relations. I am theLord.
7 “‘Do not dishonor your father by having sexual relations with your mother. She is your mother; do not have relations with her.
8 “‘Do not have sexual relations with your father’s wife; that would dishonor your father.
9 “‘Do not have sexual relations with your sister, either your father’s daughter or your mother’s daughter, whether she was born in the same home or elsewhere.
10 “‘Do not have sexual relations with your son’s daughter or your daughter’s daughter; that would dishonor you.
11 “‘Do not have sexual relations with the daughter of your father’s wife, born to your father; she is your sister.
12 “‘Do not have sexual relations with your father’s sister; she is your father’s close relative.
13 “‘Do not have sexual relations with your mother’s sister, because she is your mother’s close relative.
14 “‘Do not dishonor your father’s brother by approaching his wife to have sexual relations; she is your aunt.
15 “‘Do not have sexual relations with your daughter-in-law. She is your son’s wife; do not have relations with her.
16 “‘Do not have sexual relations with your brother’s wife; that would dishonor your brother.
17 “‘Do not have sexual relations with both a woman and her daughter. Do not have sexual relations with either her son’s daughter or her daughter’s daughter; they are her close relatives. That is wickedness.
18 “‘Do not take your wife’s sister as a rival wife and have sexual relations with her while your wife is living.
19 “‘Do not approach a woman to have sexual relations during the uncleannessof her monthly period.
20 “‘Do not have sexual relations with your neighbor’s wife and defile yourself with her.
21 “‘Do not give any of your children to be sacrificed to Molek, for you must not profane the name of your God. I am the Lord.
22 “‘Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable.
23 “‘Do not have sexual relations with an animal and defile yourself with it. A woman must not present herself to an animal to have sexual relations with it; that is a perversion.
24 “‘Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways, because this is how the nations that I am going to drive out before you became defiled. 25 Even the land was defiled; so I punished it for its sin, and the land vomited out its inhabitants. 26 But you must keep my decrees and my laws. The native-born and the foreigners residing among you must not do any of these detestable things, 27 for all these things were done by the people who lived in the land before you, and the land became defiled. 28 And if you defile the land, it will vomit you out as it vomited out the nations that were before you.
29 “‘Everyone who does any of these detestable things—such persons must be cut off from their people. 30 Keep my requirements and do not follow any of the detestable customs that were practiced before you came and do not defile yourselves with them. I am the Lord your God.’”

Indeed when a person is exposed from the loins to the thigh they are naked. Between the loins and the thighs are the buttocks and genitalia which should indeed be covered. You should indeed follow your convictions regarding modesty as in every other area of life.

You should NOT try to impose your convictions on others; because that is the Holy Spirit's role---NOT YOURS!

Nakedness in scripture is symbolic of one having the shame of their sins exposed.

Revelation 3:18
I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

Revelation 16:15
Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.

I always like the law of FIRST MENTION...

Before the Fall....And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed. Gen 2:25

After the Fall....And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. Gen 3:7

Job 31:33
If I covered my transgressions as Adam, by hiding mine iniquity in my bosom:

John 15:22
If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloak for their sin.

but it is Gen 3.7 which is the law of first mention after the Fall. And we live after the Fall. We too should cover ourselves sufficiently so as not to make Jesus ashamed, and not be an undue temptation to others (he who looks on a woman to lust after her, has committed adultery with her already in his heart)..

Many Christians have no problem with nudity in movies. It's old hat I guess.

A youth leader gal one time was boasting from the Grecian pulpit how great the 'Titanic' movie was. I've been told there is nudity and the 'F' word in it. The youth leader was encouraging the young people to go see it. I've lived too long!

The body in and of its self is a work of art created by God....However, in a fallen world this is the problem lust and sin has entered in and we must be careful to be modest, but clothing will not save you.... Jesus Saves..... Holy Spirit convicts our hearts to obey.....so pray and listen to conviction you are given by God's Holy Spirit.

It's sad but lusting is a sign that one has lost that shameness that came with innocency.

Beyond callous. I've heard pastors use their latest trip to the Mall to watch the latest R movies as a seguay to their sermons.

Most of the skin I see exposed around where I live doesn't cause me to lust. Do you have wal-marts?

What I wonder more is why you feel compelled to go all old testament on everyone, when Jesus has destroyed the old covenant.

My thought? If this is the sum total of your reflections on God's word, and the sum total of all that is wrong with the church, you and the church are great shape.

If only that were true.

Things really have changed. My daughter pointed out to me a while ago that an animated series (cannot remember exactly but it may have been Family Guy or The Simpsons) used to be rated with a 14 (TV-14 – This program contains some material that many parents would find unsuitable for children under 14 years of age.) Oh, I just looked both up, and Simpsons is rated for 12 and Family Guy 15 by Common Sense Media. Outlander is rated by the same outfit at a 17, as is Game of Thrones, two of the most graphic shows I have ever seen on prime time television. The Exorcist was restricted way back when, which meant you had to be nineteen (in Canada) at the time. Common Sense Media gives it a 16 now. Roger Ebert, while praising the film, believed the special effects to be so unusually graphic he wrote, "That it received an R rating and not the X is stupefying."

@ Brother J

You're interest in God's commandments and how we should best be serving Him is good. It is written that once you recieve the Holy Spirit, it writes God's law on your heart and mind, and causes you to walk in His ways.

Those who have turned away from seeking God's will are making a grave mistake.

Proverbs 28:9
He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.

Thank you for making this biblical fact known to me.
