Matt26:41 - "watch and pray so that you do not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak."
As I am reading this verse tonight I understand it for the first time. How many timesdo we find ourselves saying tonight or today I am going to do this or that for God, or I am going to spend a ccertain amount of time with Him and when it gets to do that we are like, I want to but I am to tired or....... our body has produced soke kind of excuse for us not to do it. I know I am guilty of that but it got me thinking how many other time does our spirit encourage us to do something for God and instead we listen to our bodies. One day we will stand before God and be accountable for the choices we made. Fight for God and keep your spirit strong overcome the flesh and you will never ever be sorry.

Hello franswa

I agree with your thoughts and how we need to be strong in the Lord. So he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty." Zechariah 4:6

Jesus is in the Garden of Gethsemane and soon will be betrayed, but some of His disciples have fallen asleep. Yes we all need to "watch and pray" Thanks for your thoughtful post.

Blessings!

Someday you will stand before God and be accountable for one thing - have you received Jesus Christ as your Savior and His gift of Righteousness? If you answer yes, then there is no condemnation for those in Christ. Romans 8:1

We are tired people - overworked - and our bodies want to sleep. Or we don't eat right, and we are feeling the results of it. And I do believe our Lord wants us to listen to our bodies for its need to rest. Do the best you can when you can.

Don't try to overachieve. Tell yourself you will discipline yourself for even 5 min. a day - then grow from there as you get used to that. Beginning a habit of spending time with the Lord is difficult at first - but you need to at least start small. The feeling of "should" is enough to turn anyone off. I usually think of the Lord sitting there waiting to spend alone time with me. It helps.
